Heavy Heart.
My heart is so very heavy as I write this message among all my tears. I watched as my dear, sweet brother took his last breath last night 8 hours after being removed from the ventilator. He passed away at 7:40pm 9/20/12 surrounded by love. It was very difficult for both his wife Isabel and me. There is no way to ever…

Pins and needles - results
Well the biopsy came back positive positive in the lymph nodes in the neck. I'm devastated obviously. I had an appointment already scheduled next week for my oncologist and he will order a PET scan then so I will have a better idea how extensive this has invaded the lymph system. But what are my chances that chemo will get…

On pins and needles
I was dignosed with stage 3 EC in March 2012, went through treatments and had THE surgery in June. I was in to my surgeon for a scheduled throat stretch today I had asked him to check a couple lumps I had found up by the collar bone. He has done a fine needle aspiration to check for a cause. There was a look of concern on…

Is anyone in touch with William and Sherry?
I was curious if anyone was in contact with them off the boards and how they are doing. I haven't been on the board that long and was just getting to know people. What a shame we have lost such dedicated and knowledgeable people.

The End.
It look's like the end has come for my dear brother. He is currently in the hospital on a ventilator after what was suppose to be a small surgery 9/11/12 to relieve fluid from around his heart. The surgery went well, but coming out of the recovery room he started to have problems. He could not breathe, so he was placed on…

Taking a break.
I think I'm going to take a break for a while. We are preparing to leave the country for a bit, returning first week in Nov. Then hubby of 40 years is going in for back surgery (scary). I will continue to keep all of you in my thoughts and prayers. My email is ginnybender@gmail.com for anyone who wants to keep in touch.

To those newbies who find themselves here...
I just want to offer you a word of encouragement. I was in your exact same shoes in mid-June of this year. My boyfriend of 6 years was diagnosed with Stage III EC, a result of long term acid reflux that was not treated properly. (i.e. watched over time for Barrett's and endoscopies ordered to track). Of course that is all…

Near the end? I need advice.
Hi everyone, I haven't posted anything for months. My dad was diagnosed with Stage 4 Esophageal Cancer in Feb (7 months ago). He's done treatment after treatment with different cocktails of chemo. He has a kidney stone the size of a large olive and gall stones now. The chemo is working - it fixed the esophagus, but his…

Posted this on the FB site, thought I should post it here also for those not on FB.
It's not over until God says it's over! I just had to say that. You see my brother has fought this disease for over 2 years now, 25 months to be exact. How many times I thought, 'this is it,' but he never stops amazing me. Jr. has been off of chemo since the end of June and when I saw him yesterday I was truly amazed.…

Hello again
I just wanted to put a post up today saying that I hope that I did not offend anyone with my last two postings. Everyone has a right to pick their own treatment plan and options dealing with this cancer and I was just speaking from my own point of view. Eddie was given pallative treatment only right from the beginning…

"Another thought I would like to share"
Asides from all my feelings, I would like to add this: This is just my opinion but I would like to share it to all the stage four's. Ed went through six months of chemo, which really did not do much and all along, right from the start, I asked his doctor to do a brains can because I believe he had brain mets right from the…

It has been a rough two years
Hello to my old friends and to all the new members on here: As some of you remember me, I lost my beloved husband Eddie, age 56, to stage four ec cancer back on September 15, 2010, then a week later, I lost my beloved Mom on September 24, 2010. I would like to say first, that I am very saddened to see that Loretta and Bill…

A dumb question
Several EC fighters have reported that following treatment, later tumors developed oftentimes leading to a staging level of Stage IV. Are all tumors that form following EC treatment a form of esophageal cancer? I read where it seems as soon as this happens, it's EC again, no matter where located, and it's off to chemo. And…

So quiet here now...
If you're new here and need help... please PM me. If you're lurking... don't be afraid. We can't help you if we don't know you're here. Time is of the essence with EC! I know... my Dad was diagnosed Stage IV.

Too Bad
Too bad this site is falling apart. It is chock full of information that we find nowhere else. True people, true experiences, true caring. What a shame. No one ever agrees on everything and THAT is what makes the world go round. We are given free will and we are free to make our choices of faith, friends, our actions, and…

Alternative Esophageal Cancer Sites
Hi, friends. I guess posting about alternative sites for information is not within the purview of acceptable postings. It is even possible that those who advocate such postings are no longer permitted to post. As we are all family here, there is nothing worse than a family disagreement. This site is invaluable. The other…
