One bumpy year
As some of you may know I was diagnosed with kidney cancer in May. I had my left kidney removed 4 weeks ago and need to go in and have a partial on my right kidney in a few weeks. This makes for a busy summer. I went in for an upper GI last week to find out I now have esophageal cancer not related to the kidney cancer.…

Please take heart and listen to those who know
There are some wonderful people on this site who know what they are talking about regarding EC and its treatment. I am so fearful that some newbies may listen to the advise of unqualified people who are telling them what to do and what not to do. EC is a vicious monster that shows no mercy. I can attest to that with all…

Hello everyone, I just wanted to update you on how Dave and I fared at Hopkins yesterday, and what we have decided. They truly are some of the countries' brightest and best, and we feel blessed to literally have…

Chat
Does anyone here frequent the Chat Rooms? I've been in there twice now and it's really convenient to have my questions answered immediately. Just curious if anyone has used them from the EC Forum. I would like to chat more often and even get my dad to chat with other survivors about any questions or concerns he may have. I…

Feeding Tube Formula
We have just learned that our insurance company will not pay for the formula we are using for the J tube. And I just learned that we are being charged $315.00 per case of 24 – 250 ml cans of the stuff. Calculates to somewhere around $2000 a month and we’ve been told to expect to need it through at least mid Sept. The…

Why so adamant about surgery?
I don't understand why everyone here is so adamant about esophageal surgery being the only answer. I had three surgical opinions (yes, at reputable EC cancer centers) and all three surgeons told me that surgery is horrifically disfiguring and will change my quality of life forever. Also stated was the fact that surgery…
