Attitude changes once you have a recurrence about how you use your precious TIME
Since I've been up all night with the steroids from my chemo yesterday, I may as well post something I've been thinking about that may help some of you one day. I remember when I was doing my 1st 6 rounds of adjuvent carbo/taxol followed by radiation back in late 2008/early 2009, and how I counted down the days until…

Words of encouragement
Hello Ladies, It has been one month since my hysterectomy and I am feeling almost back to normal. I had been telling everyone that I am emotionally doing fine, but knew that deep down inside I was not. I saw a therapist this past friday and I think that talking honestly about cancer and the feelings of loss due to not…

Abdominal Ascites
Has anyone had abdominal ascites (excess fluid) during treatment for endometrial cancer? My mother has Stage 4b UPSC and has completed 3/6 scheduled rounds of weekly carboplatin/paclitaxel. Despite having a couple early setbacks (kidney failure treated with ureteral stents, and a deep vein thrombosis in her leg) she was…

One More Three Month Appointment - Then it's every six months... Wahoo
I had a new Oncol this appointment. He looked at my charts and said "oooo, you had that type of cancer". Being very thorough he thought he saw a lesion in the v... did a biopsy, awwwwwwwwww, but then felt it was just scaring from the radiation. Thanks Doc! Will know results in 10 days but not worried. My CA125 has come…

My Good News continued
Saw my gyn-onc finally for his thoughts on test results - essentially a clean CT and ca125 of 15 -- re continuing chemo or not. His words were 'phenomenal response to chemo' and 'complete remission'. For how long? could be forever ;-), just noted with this type of cancer (UPSC) the caveat that it does tend to recur.…

Cheap drug shields kidneys from CT dye damage: study
I was searching the internet for something else when this page came up. I think it is worth to read since we are doing so many ct scans. "The use of contrast agents has brought enormous medical benefits, especially in angioplastic surgery, but has also heralded a steep rise in kidney failure, by far the most common and…

When Dr.'s say radiation and surgery are no longer an option
My mom was diagnosed with uterine cancer about 2 years ago. She got a round of chemo. Then, about 5 months after that, the cancer had apparently metastasized into her lower abdomen. She got very sick so she got another set of 6 chemo sessions with taxol and carbo. During her chemo she was doing pretty well. She even gained…

judge in california just overturned proposition 8--the anti same sex marriage amendment!!
sisters, while this decision certainly will be appealed, this is a great day for the u.s., and anti-discrimination in general. thought i'd share the news--not that all lesbians and gays want to get married, or join the military for that matter, just that gays and lesbians can have the right to choose, like all other u.s.…

Lost My Mother
My mother passed away on July 25th after battling Stage 3 UPSC for two years. Although she was very sick, we were able to enjoy her last month together, looking at pictures, holding hands and telling each other "I love you" as much as possible. My dad was an incredible caregiver through it all. She was able to stay at home…
