Frustrated...
I didn't get chemo again today. My platelets were normal this time, but the WBC had dropped to 2.1. He said they were not at a dangerous level if I were to acquire an infection right now. However, if he were to give me chemo, they would drop to a dangerous level and that it just wasn't safe. Also, my RBC dropped a little…

After the full abdominal radiation
Kris Ann, it does seem like your mom has been suffering awhile but I do remember it taking some time for my body to feel normal (It never feels like it did pre-cancer, but it is fine). Before the whole abdominal radiation my doctor spent a great deal of time telling me all the possible side effects- there were quite a lot…

Extra special gentle hugs today for ((((Mary Ann / Daisey)))), ((((Kris Ann & Judy)))), and ((((Barb
Reading the Roll Call posts, I can see what a powerful gathering of strong brave women we have here. I have such a wonderful support system with my family and friends, but I still don't know how I'd cope with how HUGE this whole cancer journey is, without you all who are walking it with me. Thank you. Special prayers and…

Alternative and complementary care
Is anyone here using alternative or complementary care for your cancer? Do you know of any cases of people who have? Have you researched info about other modalities, such as Traditional Chinese Medicine (acupuncture), hormones, nutrition, exercise, biofeedback, etc., and have information or references you can share with…

treatment guidelines
I was told by my onc nurse today that my doctor uses the "National Comprehensive Cancer Network (NCCN) Guidelines". I looked it up and it is very interesting. It has decision trees for each stage of cancer. Search endometrial and you will find "Uterine Neoplasms" including UPSC. Check out-…

Can we do a ROLL CALL with everyone posting their name, cancer diagnosis, & where they are in treatm
We have so many wonderful new people posting and I have been so busy with treatments and trying to keep my head above water at work. I am afraid I haven't really welcomed everyone (I APOLOGIZE; you can't possibly KNOW how glad I am that you all have found us!), and I am having trouble keeping everyone straight in my poor…

Help from a nurse, please
I have previously posted with my history under "I am feeling lost". I have come across some questions that maybe could be answered by some of the nurses on here. Can a D&C be performed after an endometrial ablation? What can a hysterosonogram show that a transvaginal ultrasound doesn't?

Linda; How did it go.. did it go??

LAST CHEMO TODAY AT LAST!!! (at 80% strength & Neulasta tomorrow & close monitoring now)
I FINALLY got my last chemo round today, at 80% strength because my blood count numbers were still pretty bad and the oncologist said we ‘pushing the envelope’ giving me chemo today. (i.e. my platelets were 84 instead of the 100 cut-off number; and absolute segs at 1.01 which is the subset of white blood counts that…

I am feeling lost!
I am 34 years old. My last son was born in may 2003, after which I immediatly began having the heaviest periods ever. My periods were heavy enough to make me anemic, so my gyn at the time did some testing which revealed nothing abnormal. No fibroids, polyps, nothing. I was given the choice of a hysterectomy or endometrial…

Hi Everyone, I have been reading your messages and I wish I had as much information as you. I think I was in such shock when I heard cancer that I didn't even know what to ask. I just wanted the cancer out. The complete hysterectomy was completed March 19, 2009. I am now waiting for the pathology report The original biopsy…

Denied my chemo AGAIN! Platelets too low even after an extra week & a transfusion
I just want to get this LAST ROUND in me and move on! (sigh). Last Monday when I went in for my scheduled chemo, my platelets were 27. My red blood cells were also too low, so I had a blood transfusion and was told to come back today. Today all of my other blood work was really good, but my platelets were 64. 100 is…

I was interviewed and quoted about Online Support Groups for Uterine Cancer Survivors
A couple of months ago I received a call from the people who administer this website, asking if I would be willing to talk to a writer for an online Health magazine about online Discussion Boards as a support option for uterine cancer survivors. I said I was willing and I spoke with the writer on the phone. I just came…

my fear
I had a total hysterectomy and my cervic was also removed. I'm almost 74 so other than wishing I didn't have to have any kind of surgery I didn't care about the removal of all that stuff. I certainly don't need it anymore. The gynecologic oncologist told me that the cancer was contained inside the uterus and there was no…

sleeping problems
Hi everyone, happy spring to us all. I don't know if this has been discussed but I need to ask anyway. Is anyone else having problems with sleeping unless they take a sleeping aide? I go to bed but I just lay there, I don't drink caffeine before going so that's not it. I don't nap during the day either. It's just a hour…

Remission
I just felt I needed to express my feelings on this word. I don't like it! To me it says that they believe the cancer will come back for sure, it's just taking a break for now. I would rather the doctors tell me I'm "Cancer Free". Sounds much more positive, it allows you not to worry as much. So let's refer to ourselves as…

No chemo today for me. Blood transfusion instead. :(
My platelets were down to 27 (need to be 100 to get chemo) when I went in early this morning for blood worrk with the hopes of getting my last round of chemo in me. So, no go. But I need to head back there in a few minutes for 2 units of blood which should almost guarantee (I hope I'm not jinxing myself here!) that I will…

Last treatment for me
I just got back from my last treatment and of course I feel great(steroids). I will have my ct scan in 3 weeks to see what has happened. The nurses at the infusion room handed me a angel coin when I left and I wore a tiara for the time I was there. Now, it's time to try and relax and work on getting my hair, eyebrows, and…

Moving up a new post on 'functional profiling' posted on the LONG long long 'UPSC' post that loads s
The original UPSC super-long thread is so lengthy that it takes FOREVER to load. And although I think it is EXTREMELY valuable for anyone newly-diagnosed with UPSC to read, new posts can get lost in that crazy-long thread. S000000, I am 'moving up' a recent post there to this new thread. Daisy366 posted such an interesting…

UPSC is second primary cancer
Hi everyone, My mom was just diagnosed with UPSC this past December. She is a stage IV breast cancer patient that presented with post menapausal bleeding so her onc. ordered an internal ultra sound, and found a polyp and thickening of endometrial lining. He sent us to the obgyn/onc who due to the damage from all of the…

PET scans???
Hi All, I am a new member. I have (I assume) stage 4 UPSC - originally it was 3a but first PET after surgery showed distant mets in lymph system in the neck, thoracic cavity, and abdomen. Dr. never told me stage 4 but I assumed based on what I've read. I guess I should ask him to be sure - but I guess it didn't seem…

Endometrial Cancer Research
I won't pretend to completely understand this, but I came across this new research on UPSC on the Cancer Society Institute and wanted to share it, especially the hormone therapy for California_Artist: Tumor Suppressor Genes. National cancer Institute is also supporting efforts to isolate a novel tumor suppressor gene that…
