I am Stage 4, G9, locally advanced (no bones metastasis thank goodness)...Cancer in all 12 cores, outside the prostate and in a few surrounding lymphs nodes....That was the…

Advice, support, anything you would like to add
New to the site, I have read some of the diagnosis that other men on the forum have had and have read how they are handling their issues. My PSA results have been creeping higher in the last few years. My original test in 2011 was 3.9 so during my yearly check up this year my GP was not going to do a PSA but I asked to…

Bone Density after long use of Casodex
Bone Density after long prostrate cancer control. I had a radical prostatectomy in 1993 and everything was fine until 2000 when my PSA jumped to 50-60. The PSA has been controlled with Leuprolide & for the last 4 years with casodex and my PSA is still only 0.4 or so. However, after being on Leuprolide & casodex for so…

Celebrating 10 Year Anniversary
Well it has been 10 years (Feb/2008) since we got the news about PC from our general doctor. It was dialed in at GL 9 with a PSA of 32 with MRI indications that the cancer was outside the gland. After two rounds of radiation treatment (IMRT and PB) and a round of cryoablation treatment in between, the last PSA results…

First holiday season with cancer.
First holiday season with cancer. Today I am at peace and grateful for the many gifts in my life. While I am not grateful to have cancer, I am very grateful for the people I have met, the wonderful medical professionals who go out of their way to help me. I am also extremely grateful I live in a country where quality…

Fiance referred to urologist over psa
Hi all. So my fiance went to dr for a check up and they checked his PSA while there. He is a 45 year old male. His results show only a 4.04. What I have read is that this isn't really high at all so I am not sure why the dr wants him to see a urologist over this. He does have a family history of prostate cancer. His father…

Dry then not dry
It has been 8 months since my combined prostatectomy/diverticulotomy, and I'm still dealing with the unpredictable incontinence. I can go several days without much of an issue, then it flares up again. I'm to the point where I should always wear a diaper just in case. Is that a normal feeling to have? I can deal with it,…

Preop RO meeting
Had a great preop meeting with RO. I will be doing two fractions of HDR-BT, 13.5 gy, two weeks apart. The procedure entails basically three steps. Under propofol, they will use a transrectal ultrasound to insert catheters, I think 20, into the prostate. They also will insert a urinary catheter for the procedure. I then…

Multiparametric MRI Raidologist within a few hours of Tampa Bay
There is a debate on-line at the 2016 American Urological Association meeting which gives the for and against arguments for having a multiparametric mri done with a fusion biopsy instead of having the standard biopsy of the prostate. I think I would like to have the mri and fusion biopsy. However, it is only the better…

How to decide on treatment, facts, and prejudices.
Today I was reading a few new guys posts and the wonderful feedback they were receiving. I reflected on my journey to date and was struck by the difficulty I had and time it took to get to a decision. What factors affected my decision? First my decision path was not linear, not rational at times, and certainly influenced…

Rash with Flomax
I have been taking Flomax for about 2 months. At some point during the past month, I have developed an itchy rash on my back and trunk. My wife has made no changes in laundry products and I'm wearing essentially the same stuff I have been wearing for several months. I mentioned this condition in a phone call with my Mom,…

Husband Newly Diagnosed
My husband was told last week that he has prostate cancer. He had an abnormal DRE and his PSA was >30. We have no further information but I’ll go with him on Wednesday December 20th to see the urologist. One of the most crazy-making facts thus far is that he had a PSA of 9 in the Summer of 2016 but his primary doctor…

I'm 46 and was just diagnosed last week with prostate cancer. Today I was told that my Gleason score is an 8 and my Doctor said that he would like to meet with a team next Thursday to get a few other opinions on how to proceed. His first though is to have me start hormone shots to slow down my testosterone which in return…

signs leaking will stop
No doubt this topic has been addressed elsewhere and I would appreciate direction to find these forums. I'm in need of information on the urinary leaking I'm experiencing since my prostectomy's catheter was removed 10 days. I am desparate to talk to someone to know what "normal" is right now. I don't leak overnight, but…

What Now ?
PSA has been at zero for 2.5 yrs, in Sept. it had risen to .84. Urologist said it could be an unknown spike but will recheck in 3 mos. Yesterday I retested and it came back at 4.95, I'm definitely in trouble here. Get a bone scan on Monday and hormone shot on Tues and then my urologist is handing me off to the doc in…

Father's cancer has spread to bones (again). In a panic!
Hello, I'm hoping a few of you can shed some light. About 3 years ago my father had an elevated PSA to later find out he had prostate cancer. He went through hormone treatment and was in remission. It then spread to his spine and had radiation which took care of it. About two weeks ago when talking to him on the phone he…

Hello, I was just diagnosed with prostate cancer. Biopsy results indicate: 12 cores taken, 6 are positive for cancer. Right apex - 10% occupied Right base - 30% occupied Left base - 10% occupied The report did not indicate a T score, the urologist did indicate that it was contained so based on this, I place it as a T1c We…

Conflicting Messages?
Hi everyone, My father was diagnosed with stage IV prostate cancer (metastatis to bone) two months ago. He's just finished his second round of chemo. He did a lot of the initial doctor visits "in secret" - i.e. we didn't even consider that he might have cancer - so I missed the majority of his initial consultations. He…

Hypofractionated radiation
Gentlemen, Anyone have thoughts about salvage radiation reducing the number (27 vs 39) of sessions of radiation? Each session radiation is increased but delivered over a shorter period of time. Recovery from side effects actually quicker?
