I am scheduled to talk to a radiation oncologist on friday. Could those of you who opted for radiation versus removal let me know how it went and was it the right choice?

After surgery report
Made it through with flying colors - I was pale, then pink now a little more colorful. The surgery went well and Dr. was happy with the removal and very happy with the new connection for the bladder (hopefully that means good for incontinence recovery). This is day 5 after surgery (Tuesday) and each day is so much better…

Five years after IMRT
In 2005 I had a PSA level of 4.0. In 2006 I had the same and a biopsy was recommended. I had this done, 1 out of 12 samples showed cancer. I choose 8 weeks of IMRT theropy, nothing else. About 6 to 8 months after the original treatment, my PSA decreased to about .90 or maybe less. A year ago my PSA was 1.9 and on this past…

More Evidence Supporting AS for Low Risk PCa
This paper was published in Urology Today at www.urotoday.com. As other recent posts have suggested, it offers strong support of active surviellance as a viable treatment course for low risk prostate cancer in men. I found it interesting that 30 percent of the men in this study had urinary issues and that nearly 50%…

Very upset, Father's prostate cancer, can anyone help?
In 2001, my father was diagnosed with prostate cancer and was treated with hormone therapy and radiation -- this brought his PSA to zero. Considered in remission with never a mention of watching for a reoccurrence. In 2008, his PSA spiked to .2. He was treated with hormone therapy again for 6 months which brought his PSA…

Post surgery PSA: 0.1 or <0.1 the target?
My post surgery PSA was 0.1. My doctor, who wants me to have follow up radiation, says the magic number is <0.1, that 0.1 says there is something there to measure. I've read other places that >0.1 says there is possibly something there. I'm having another PSA soon but wonder if 0.1 is something to worry about. Because I…

I think Kongo should write a book or....
...perhaps a story for Reader's Digest outlining what prostate cancer patients go through from their initial diagnosis all the way through treatment. I'm serious. He has consistently provide a wealth of information that should be shared from a patients point of view. Can I get an Amen here?
