Artificial Sphincters
I posted yesterday about being newly diagnosed and received some very useful information. It would seem the most often encountered side effect of the da Vinci operation is incontinence. I am a sports official umpiring baseball and softball in High School through College. I umpire 200+ games a year. An average game behind…

Is there any pc surgery survivor who has an erection as good as pre-surgery? Or in other words, a sex life as good? As a survivor with a diminished erection, I have heard many others say there's is half as good, or 3/4, etc. Can anyone truly say its as good as before surgery??? George

Age 70 -- and it's decision time
Wow, could I use some advice and words of wisdom. I'm 70, diagnosed two weeks ago with prostate cancer. The basic stats are PSA 7.8, Gleason 3+4=7, stage T2a, with (ouch!) perineural invasion. So it looks like the cancer probably has gotten outside the prostate. I'm in good health and very active. Probably good for another…

Advanced PC and disability
Has anyone had any luck with applying for disability and being approved? It is getting harder and harder for my husband to work. His doctors and other people have told him to apply for disability. But we have heard that it is very hard to get approved, and we can't afford to take the chance and get denied. His cancer has…

Using Ditropan, Vesicare, Detrol LA--Incontinence
My Doctor recently has been treating me for a contracting bladder. After URO testing it was evident that my sphincter was still functioning but my bladder was way overactive. So as I climb the staircase of treatment, he prescribed Ditropan to see if this would help my bladder. It's been 4 weeks and it just doesn't seem to…

Choosing a Treatment Procedure
I had prostate cancer in 2003 - psa 4.7 - gleason score 6 prior to surgery and gleason score 7 after surgery - positive margins. After doing my own research and speaking to doctors - I chose radical prostatectomy (open - not robotic) - as robotic surgery was very new in my area and my doctor did not perform them at the…

PSA
My boy friend had his second biobsy. It was negative again, but his PSA is 12.3 The Dr did not say anything exept they did not find any cancer. What would the next step be? he goes to the VA clinic, he has no privat insurance, so he is at the mercy of the VA. His prostate is not enlarged either.
