Rough day today
I am about 2 months post op after a radical nephrectomy to remove my left kidney and the nearly 14cm tumor. At the time there were no signs of metastasis, clear margins, lymph nodes clear, etc. The pathology came back as an agressive type of uRCC but the surgeon and urology team was pretty confident they caught it in time.…

And the circus is still in town!
So after a long anticipated wait for what is supposed to be a "simple procedure" has yet again been put on hold due to the fact that whatever a******* are in scheduling screwed up and after a almost 4 hr drive bloodwork and an unnecessary MRI the machine to do the cyroablation is unavailable to do a procedure that has been…

Oncologist or Not
I received my pathology report back this week. Grade 2 stage pT1a. I meet with my family practice dr Thursday morning and my urologist next Thursday morning. My question do I ask for an oncologist or just let the two Drs I see now continue to monitor me. I totally understand that my situation is better than a lot of others…

Most of my valued friends and saved messages are missing from my csn email. It saddens me.Particularly lost messages from those that have passed. Anyone else having this issue? Treasured correspondence is just gone. Some going back many years. Perhaps a moderator can be of some assistance.

Anemia after surgery
Hi everyone. My dad had a radical nephrectomy on 3/28. Prior to surgery he was very anemic, which is what led them to discover the tumor. He had a blood transfusion before surgery, but they did not transfuse during or after. They try to hold off on transfusions if possible. After surgery his hemoglobin started to climb, he…

Complex appearing irregularly margined cyst mid pole
Hello Everyone, I was just referred for a CT scan after an ultrasound (for an unrelated issue) showed a "complex appearing irregular margined cyst mid pole of the left kidney measuring 2.1 x 1.9 x 2.3 cm". I realize that the CT scan will likely tell me more but, as you well know, the waiting is so scary. I wasn't worried…

Complex Kidney Cyst
Hi everyone, I found out yesterday that the simple cyst on my right kidney is now complex. I have had it for a few years. It did get bigger which is why the ultrasound tech recommended the CT Scan. My doctor called and said I have to see a urologist because there is a 5 percent chance its cancer. I know this seems like a…

During my reading on kidney cancer medical documents (for my dad condition) I have gained a good insight into the illness and its treatment but there is one thing that is not fully clear to me. So My CT Scan
says the left mass is unchanged BUT says I have 'Anteriorly within the midpole of the right kidney, there is an enhancing renal mass measuring 1.4 cm." That's the kidney I JUST had surgery on! The report didn't say "complex" or "solid" so I'm not sure if there is another cancer they missed? Any thoughts?

Chromophobe RPLND Surgery
Two years ago I underwent a very successful surgery called RPLND surgery, this surgery is the reason I am alive today. Two days from now I will be attending my youngest daughters high school graduation. The sole driver for me to turn down targeted therapy, and instead pursue surgery, was a thought CSN post July 2012 from…

Interesting Observations
Good morning! Some things pop in to my mind and they are quite interesting. Since having my kidney and cancer removed, I have noticed the following... Night sweats are gone. I am not freezing cold all the time. I mean the kind of cold where you sit in a hot bath and your inner core still feels freezing. My hair seems to be…

Plan of Care
I have been spending a bunch of time at the bedside of a friend of mine who's been quite ill and in the hospital. Nope, the admitting diagnosis wasn't RCC, but the "Plan of Care" I saw written on my friend's in-room white board the other day is definitely applicable for us RCC folks. Plan of Care * Wake up * Nutrition *…
