Surgery Complete
Hey y'all!! I'm on my way to recovery!! I had my robotic assisted partial nephrectomy on my right kidney on Tuesday. Everything went well and my doctor's were very pleased with the surgery. He said the tumor was actually a little smaller than what was thought according to my scans so that was great. He used a small grape…

I am on medication to help control the panic attacks but eventually I want to get off all the meds and go back to living my normal life. So I am giving accupuncture a try. I love it so far. It’s…

Proper Care of Your Caregiver
Warning: This is going to get pretty dark. Don't read beyond this point if you don't want a "downer". Many of you know my history. I visited the doctor after many years of not visiting the doctor and was eventually found to have stage 4 RCC. As my disease has quickly progressed, I've suffered spinal cord compression, hip…

Don't get kidney stone
So Oct 2017, had little lower back pain, and felt dizzy when picking something up. Went to doctor, after CT scan, they said I had kidney stone. Couple days of using the screen to catch it, my urologist said it was to large to pass. He order surgery to remove it, after looking twice in my kidney, he could not find it, he…

Newbie here. Diagnosed incidentally first week of November 2017 (3.5cm in size and hilar location). First urologist said laproscopic radical was the way to go. Went for 2nd opinion. They did chest x-ray (clear) and biopsy (papillary renal cell carcinoma, type 1) and suggested partial open. Going with partial open. Meeting…

THE SIX MILLION DOLLAR MAN
I'M SURE THERE ARE THOSE HERE WHO ARE CHRONOLOGICALLY ADVANCED THAT WILL GET THE SUBJECT REFERENCE. LOL I'll give you a run down on how I gave myself that nickname, so here goes: 1] My heart in 2003 decided it wanted to be a racehorse, but w/o me having to do any running. It would go from my usual of 65 BPM to 250 BPM at…

First scan after surgery
I was due for my first post op scan February 5th, but I got it moved up to January 22nd. Just yesterday I got a sudden uncomfortable feeling under my rib cage by my left kidney the only one left. I called the Dr today. It doesn’t hurt just uncomfortable feeling. My anxiety and stress are already through the roof. Every…

Catheter Question
I've had surgeries, but never needed a catheter. Are they put in under sedation? After I'm knocked out for surgery? Before with drugs? Or before without? Just curious as to how this works. Thanks!!

Endurance? Or lack there of
So 4 weeks out partial nephrectomy. I’m in no way someone who is in tip top shape. However, I always have been able to just go and go. I wake up I’m good and by mid day I’m running on empty. I shoveled snow yesterday twice; usually a little invigorating. I was ready to go to bed for the rest of the day. Is this how you all…

Pre-Op visit today
Cleared for Right Robotic partial surgery next Wednesday. NO colon cleanse! Yeah! No special diet, BUT strongly recommended that I do a soft diet Monday and Tuesday. Current medicine directive given. General anesthesia with a nerve block before recovery! SO excited about that too.

NED
Wanted to share my good news. I had NED yesterday for my scans. It's been 3 years since my adrenal tumor. I thought ya'll might be interested in my doc's prognosis. When I had the metastasis to my adrenal 3 years ago, doctor said I had a 66% chance of it coming back somewhere. I got another opinion and the other oncologist…

Craving??
This is getting ridiculous now lol!! I have had the strongest craving for chocolate for around 4 days now. I have eaten it yet the craving will not go away. It is not a typical sugar craving like I want anything (cookies, icecream). It is specifically chocolate. I have craved veggies too and eat those every day. Just…

Missing y’all
I’ve been remiss in making time to come here regularly. The promotion I got while recovering has kept me super busy. We are nearing the end of a big Win 10 upgrade project so soon my world will slow a little and I can get back to normal things. I think of all you wonderful people often and pray for you Daily. I hope…

Second surgery complete - pathology back
Next up - robotic partial left nephrectomy on 1/22/18. Had abdominal and pelvis CT last week...NED. Blood work and urine both normal...good stuff right there. The mass on the left kidney is still not enhancing fully with IV contrast. It's measuring just under 2cm and there's a chance that it's not cancer. Doc said if I was…

Path report on husband’s new tumor and adrenal gland: Miracles do happen.
I posted about the 4 cm ish small bowel tumor they found when my husband went for his 4 year follow up scans for his chromophobe kidney cancer diagnosis. The tumor appeared out of nowhere and was not on his CT scan from 9 months ago. We were told to expect ladenocarcinoma or another cancer, metastatic disease was less…

Being paranoid
So I'm sure I am just being hypersensitive... I hope. I am having a dull deep pain in my right leg (thigh) and wonder if I should be concerned. I had a bone scan the day before my surgery (12/5/17) and it came back clear. Am I being paranoid? Could something spring up that fast?

low grade pain in loin area
Hi all, I don't know if I am having a psychosomatic pain, but for the last 2 days I have been having a low grade pain/discomfort in my left loin area. Is my tumor potentially growing? On the scan it was bulging out of the lower portion of the kidney. I am worried that it may envelope the fascia or grow through it. Is this…

Urologist or Oncologist, or both?
Curious at to how many people with low grade RCC only see their urologist. Is it safe? I keep reading that RCC is so tricky and needs to be watched and treated by a specialist. My urology doctor assured me that he "got it all" and declared me NED after surgery in September. I was healing and doing great, feeling better,…

my recent obsevations/thoughts
As sick as I get on occaision, it's incredible what I can tolerate. I'm still here despite some serious hits. I have gotten pretty damn good at identifying variances from my new normal and making adjustments so things do not get acutely out of control. Every day I need to adjust BP meds. I bottom out often but go off the…
