life is good
I get so confused re: time. Literally living from appointment to appointment. October is tomorrow. So I have to take a moment to look back to the start of this year. It has been busy. Don't be surprised if I make mistakes about treatments, met growth and response to treatments. At 5 and a half years it is becomming a…

My other history includes Gout, Dry mouth (negative for Sjorgens disease) , Rhinitis, Gerd, Reflux and…

3 week post op - question about incisional hematoma
It’s been almost three weeks since my laparascopic radical nephrectomy. The first few days, and even the first week at home were certainly “challenging” in terms of pain, mobility, general discomfort, etc, but there’s been slow but steady progress since, About a week ago (the two week mark), I just happened to look down,…

I'm still alive
hi...don't know how many of you will recognize me anymore, but wanted to let you know I'm still alive and kicking. Two weeks ago tomorrow, I underwent surgery to have the upper lobe of my left lung removed, along with a new primary cancer (adenocarcinoma of the lung) at Moffitt Cancer Center in Tampa, FL. I finally ditched…

CT or ultrasound
There was a discussion recently if ultrasounds are good enough for follow up. My husband is getting ultrasounds every 6 months. But after his latest NED the doc performing ultrasounds suggested to have a CT once in a while (like, once in 2-3 years or so). Just in case... Or better MRI for younger people to avoid radiation.…

3 years is coming up: Trepidation of moving to annual scans
Hi everyone, I've been reading carefully all the posts, I just have trouble on my phone these days so can't post much. In an effort to work less at home and spend more time with the family (I'm a teacher so we work a lot at home) I leave my laptop at work. Sooo, long story short while I read everything, I'm not posting…

Well, this is my short story. I was diagnosed 25 months ago, 10 cm confined to kidney tumor. Had follow ups and am considered to be NED. My hubby and I were thinking of having our first baby before the diagnosis but the diagnosis, surgery, follow ups, depression, stress, hopelessness made me make the decision of not wanting…

1st meeting with Urogolist
Hello all, I met with my Urologist yesterday. He told me the tumor was 6cm, a little bigger than my Oncologist said. Still, it is what it is. He also told me my tumor is on the top of the Kidney in a bad place, and he recommends taking it out. He believes it may be Stage one, maybe two; but as I learned on this site, they…

MRI Results
Hi Everyone, I have received my MRI results for my brain tumors, the cyber knife radiation did help reduce the size (3 tumors in brain) but did not make them go away. I will see the Drs. on Monday to discuss other options and also get my results for my CT scan of the chest, stomach and pelvic area. I will let you know what…

Worried Newbie
Just found this discussion board and hope to share some of my worries. It all started with a back pain and was scheduled for US in June and found a 3cm mass and CT with contrast in Aug and mass was 3.8cm with measurement 2.6x3.2x3.4cm at right kidney upper pole. Wondering why the difference in measurement between US and…

A (Boring) Update for You All
Been awhile but i've been thinking about you all just the same. Had my baseline CT with/without contrast in August, 7 mos after right partial (open) nephrectomy involving 4cm RCC tumor, T1a N0 M0, Furhman grade 3. My jack of all trades urologist said 'no worrisome results' which i'm going to claim as a visit from Uncle NED…

Another CT Scan?
Hi All, I haven't been around for a while. Got some wonderful support here at the time of my radical nephrectomy. Have been back a few times, in part to try and "give back" a little, but I confess life has gotten busy with other things and I haven't been back as much as I intended to. I'm looking for some advice. I had a…

Question: Re Breathing
A little history first. Left Kidney and Adrenal Gland have been removed. Right Adrenal Gland does not work. Have several small nodlues on right lung and have a sub cutaneous knot on my sternum. Lympnodes in region are also involved with spread of cancer. Cancer has spread to other areas of the body but not mentioning it…

New guy Just dianosed
Hello All, I just found this site after a long day and am glad I found it. The stories and information here have given me a little hope after seeing my Oncologist. Scanxiety
I'm feeling a little guilty that I haven't popped in for awhile and now it's scan time so my cancer is really on my mind (even though I don't want it to be). I had my scans on Wednesday. Funny. They've changed the procedure on the CT scans. They used to do 3 scans: one for chest, one for abdomen, and one for pelvis. It…

Learning to deal with tests
At this point, you almost hesitate to say much. There is a bit of survivor's guilt when one comes on here and says everything is OK. But then you think, "what the H..., I've earned it." For all of you who haven't always had great results, are on meds, more tests, etc., I can truthfully say, "I've been there." Earning my…

Second opinion stuff...
I'm ready to get the second opinion, I think. Tomorrow morning is another CT, then a review with my primary physician, then... Another specialist (yup, RCC kinda specialist). Don't know the time frame yet, except it'll be soon that I follow up with my primary. In the meantime, I'm repacking my scanxiety survival kit -- *…

Where to start???
I haven't been around much. We ended not ever making it to MDA because, being self-employed, we were too busy to even consider leaving the area. Which is the strangest thing because we haven't been busy around that time of year for about 15 years. It's just a slow time every year in the business. So we ended up with a…

Cyst
I just had my (4) year scan; diagnosed & surgery July '12 RCC 5.5, Stage 1, Grade 1 - right full neph done. I've had a very small cyst that has been about the same size. In the past year it grew a very small amount ( I think 2-3mm to 18x15 ) so they've ordered an ultrasound to make sure. The report said, 'still consisitent…

Diagnosed Complex Kidney Cyst Stage II
Yesterday I saw my doctor for the results of my recent CTScan. He said I have a cyst in each kidney. They are both under 2cm. and both are calcified a small degree. About 10 months ago, I had nothing on either kidney. My doctor wants me to wait 6 months to do another CTScan. He says when it gets worse, they will do…

Sticking my neck out, and saying hello...
Been a turtle for awhile up here on the Oregon Coast.... figured I better check in, and catch up on everyone on the board. I just finished my 15th infusion of Nivo, and scan results from August are in.... No evidence of cancer in my brain MRI... my oncologist did not say disease.. he said cancer... so does that mean I am…

Scan Results
I got the test results back today the IL2 did not work as suspected and the cancer has spread into more areas. Doctors are recommending a new drug therapy to slow the roll of the cancer but at this point there is no longer a cure the IL2 was the only drug that could possibly, although improbable, stop or slow growth. The…
