Hello everyone!! My husband's story started last August when he had, what looked like, a small canker sore under his tongue. We saw his first ENT in September, by then, the tumor had grown to about an inch in size. It had become very painful for him to eat anything but very soft food. The ENT did a biopsy which came back…

Sad News
I saw on Facebook a couple of days ago that Joe Cortney (jcortney on here)passed away. I sent a message to his wife...she said he passed the end of January. He was a rock for me when I had the recurrence last year....a positive and very humorous guy. P

NPC treatment oversea
Has anyone have oversea treatment for NPC? I'm just curious and exploring all options. Since we are Asians and this type of cancer is more commomn in China, maybe getting treatment in China might be best. Unfortunately, moving & getting treatment in China is not an option for my cousin as she is the breadwinner & also have…

Update on clinical trial
I had HPV+ SCC in my left tonsil and soft palate in 2012, which never returned after chemo-radiation. I ended up with lung cancer in 2015, though, also HPV+ SCC, and I was again treated with chemo-radiation. At the 6-month PET scan, the cancer was blooming again in my right pleura, several lymph nodes, and even just…

Saliva mysteries - what does this mean
I'm nine weeks post 35/7 rad & chemo treatment. I can be painfully bone dry, put in a piece of sugarfree gum, and be well moistened in under a minute. Does this mean my glands are still mostly functional, just taking their time to recover? Xylimelts have no effect, the sprays help for a while, but a piece of gum and I'm…

Feeding tube /Pathology report
Well continuing on my road to recovery I am due for my first post op appointment on March 8th to see how it is healing. I had tonsillar cancer that also had started to go onto the base of my tongue. So consuming calories has become my full time job to hopefully avoid a feeding tube. Anything that has dairy in it produces…

Late side effects after H&N chemoradiation (eating, mucous, etc)
Hullo There First up, to address the elephant in the room - I'm clearly not American, but an intruder from overseas (I mention, as I've found some good info in these forums and for the most part the community seems to be State-side - GO USA!) We have an Aussie cancer support site, but the community involves three people…

Just saying thanks!
I don't always comment in here but I do read quite a bit. For me it's reassuring to see a group of people who are dealing with issues like I have. I've yet to meet anyone in "real life" who has had the type of cancer that I had so coming to read these boards makes me feel less alone in this struggle and the aftermath. Some…

No Saliva? - No Problem - The Answer: okra water
Your new best friend: Okra. You are going to make okra water. Simmer cut okra in a covered pot of water for approx. 10 minutes. 2 cups of okra to 4-5 cups of water. Your end result is ‘okra water’. Drain the okra and place in a container. Fill that container with more water, cover, and pop in fridge to sit. This will yield…

Nasopharyngeal cancer
Hey folks, I was searching for forums and support groups as I got diagnosed recently with nasopharyngeal cancer (squamous cell carcinomA). They say it's advanced local and I'm not entire sure what that means in terms of prognosis but it has spread to both sides of the lymph nodes on my neck. No distance metastasis. Will be…

Next month April 24th will be my 4 year anniversary of completing treatment for Stage IVa Head and Neck cancer. As of today, I'm NED! (no evidence of disease). Bleeding after Surgery
On day 8 post op I have some bleeding and when I clear the mucous I have fresh blood and clots. They mentioned when I left the hospital there might be some but if it was substantial go to the hospital. What is substantial.
