Xeliri infusion one
I survived my first infusion ever with no immediate adverse reaction. They gave me steroids, anti-nausea, and anti-diahrreal meds too. I took a wee nap, and feel my appetite waning tonight. But other than that, not sure what to expect next. I also spent infusion time reading half of a new book called Everything Happens For…

Pomegranate
From the “it probably can’t hurt department”: I am not much of a juice drinker, but I have recently added pomegranate juice to my regime after reading some preliminary studies about its anti-cancer effect. The evidence is not overwhelming and is based mostly on test tube and rat studies, but hey, I figure a glass a day…

Rectal Cancer Summary
Hi. This is my first interaction with any support forums/chats since my Rectal Cancer diagnosis in early October 2017. I'm sure i'll post more history, but right now, i have a couple of major concerns i'm hoping someone else has some experience with and/or considerations to share. I had 80% of my rectum removed on June 23,…

I have some pretty good news, finally
I wish it was "I'm NED" but it's not. I went to my onc today and we've decided that I'm going to wait until the CT scan is done before I go back on the chemo. So not until June. Yay, because my skin is really giving me grief still and I haven't been on it for three weeks. My CEA before just the two treatments was 52. Now…

My husband is having his stent
Removed tomorrow, in preparation for his big surgery Tuesday. It’s been in way too long but they didn’t want to touch it while he was on Avastin. They think it might have caused his infection by harboring bacteria, plus the tumor has shrunk enough to not need it. Also they are ablatiing what’s left of it on Tuesday. I am…

50 polyp's last year and 75 this year. Surgery?
I am 58 male and had 50 polyps removed last year. This year it's 75. None were cancerous. They were only in the very lower portion of my colon and the doctor suggests I get that part of my colon removed. Yet there was no cancer or polyps that looked suspicious. My brother, 13 months older had 1 polyp last year. My dad had…

Diagnostic path - feeling at sea
Hi all, I feel at sea in choosing a diagnostic path forward without clearer advice from my GP. I’m posted overseas for work in a country where it’s evidently routine and easy to add all sorts of different blood tests at will to your blood panel. But the GP seems simply to shrug and say that sometimes the tests may be…

Is this normal?
My mother is currently battling Stage IV cancer. It has spread extensively to her liver which has been determined as inoperable. She is currently doing FOLFOX every other week and has a pump for 2 days. On the weeks in between she goes for Erbitux. She’s been doing this about 2 months. She is nearly bedridden. Can not do…

Chemopreventive potential of Singulair (montelukast sodium)
Singulair is a popular drug to treat asthma and allergies, which was very effective for me, but which I discontinued on my cancer diagnosis because I thought it inhibited my immune system, which I wanted to be at its best to fight cancer. However, Spring winds and pollen really effected me this year and out of despair, I…

First Surgery to Colon
As some of you know I am fighting stage 4 CRC only for a month. I had my two rounds of Folfox, but due to some complications I will have to go for surgery to remove the main tumor from colon. The main tumor is not that big, it is 20 cm inside of the colon and they will remove around 8-10 cm of the large intestine. Probably…

Radiology report language ... I don't understand
Hi all, I recently had my follow-up scans, done now every 4 months, and the radiologist has noted a 13 mm nodular density at the suture line of the surgical anastomosis which requires further investigation. I am confused by the language that has been used ... can anyone tell me where the location of this density is based…

Celebrating FOUR years NED
How blessed I feel! I thank Dr. Rembetski, my bowel surgeon. Dr. Singh, my Oncologist. Dr. Kos, my Radiation Oncologist and Dr. Galanopoulos, my liver surgeon. And of course, I am thankful for my family, my friends, and all who have prayed and sent good vibes my way. I also thank myself. Yeah, I'm a work in progress. I am…

Been waiting months for this day....
Today is round 12 of my chemo. Been waiting for a long time for this to be over, at least for now. Hoping for a good scan in the next week or so. That will give me a chemo holiday for a while, and a chance to feel good again. It's very frustrating to feel like crap for 7-10 days, then start to feel better, then get infused…

Surgery 2 years ago today
2 years ago today I spent the day in surgery after being diagnosed with a recurrence in March. I was not in a good place emotionally. A 3rd surgery, this one just months after aggressive chemo and the loss of one friend to cancer and one of my dearest friends to ALS just a few days prior. To be honest I had just about…

Johnson and Johnson discontinuing HAI pump
Just found out Johnson and Johnson is discontinuing the manufacture of the HAI pump used by Dr. Kemeny/MSKCC for treatment of metastatic spread to the liver. I found this out from Colontown. There are a few individuals there organizing a formal petition to get Johnson and Johnson to reconsider. In the interim, it appears…

Lots of Blood
Hi everyone, I want to ask your opinion about something unpleasant. I am having the second chemo, my regimen is Folfox, and they are giving also Avastin in this round. I'm staying at hospital since the chemo takes more than 48 hours. As you know these drugs worsen the diarrhea, and I went for toilet before falling asleep…

Husbands recent scans not good
Last week we had DH's PET/CT scan at MD Anderson. Two places are of concern. Liver and lungs were said to be clear, so that was a blessing. After we met with the dr, they had us meet with the surgeon to discuss what may need to happen if the places come back positive. They said one place was in the wall of the colon and…

Starting Xeliri + Avastin
I'm still maintaining and even adding to my natural protocol; but with my cancer being so aggressive I'm going to add some chemo. I've worked out a schedule of Xeloda one week on, one week off, Irinotecan and Avastin infusions every 2 weeks. My Oncologist believes this is a strong combo, so we'll know if I respond from my…

Seeding?
My father has a needle biopsy on his lung, following a CT scan that showed a new suspicious spot on his lung. I have been researching and found some information on something called "seeding." Are needle biopsies common and should the fear of seeding cause some to opt out?

Blood Clots
My husband's face has been swelling up and turning a deep dark red color with a lot of pressure. Now his arms are swelling up like a ballon. Dr. ordered ultersound and sure enough he has at least 12 blood clots from neck, arms and armpits. Dr. also believes he has Superior vena cava obstruction (SVCO) and is ordering a…

Stage 2A- Chemo or no chemo after surgery??
Hi Everyone I am new to this board and to posting online. On March 14 I had surgery to remove a T3 size tumor and colon resection. 33 Lymph nodes were removed with ovaries and tubes and all were clear. Did not Metasisize. The tumor had gone to the bowel wall so Dr is recommeding chemo. but observation is an option as well.…

One to go....
Just fiished up on Thursday with round 11...one more to go!!! Wasn't sure I would make it through. I feel like it is doing it's job, and the CEA score has dropped 25% or more every week. Of course, after round 12, we will taking pictures to really see how things are coming along. I want nothing more than to be off the…

Bone cancer ?
I'm just wondering if anyone had any testing or results that indicated their CR cancer spread to the bones and what symptoms were there?
