Bad news - tumour skull bone
Hi all - I am supposed to be on a chemo break to recoup after about 13 mos of chemo, which I really needed. Had brain scan due to ear plugged and feeling bit dizzy. CT showed a large tumour in the skull bone near my ear. Now I have had a zillion tests, x-rays, MRI's for Oncologist to learn more and to try to determine…

Anxiety around liver resection
Is it normal to worry about what if my lesions on liver don't shrink enough to remove, the surgery itself, the recovery time, the hospital stay (was in the hospital for 19 days for diagnosis, colon resection, and recovery), how my cats will worry, what I can do to get my body ready, etc? My surgeon is confident. My…

82 condolences, so far
My friend of 35 years has just passed away. He too had CRC. The family have just posted the announement of his death on Facebook and he has 82 wonderful replies do far, saying what a wonderful man he was, and that is tremendous. It did make me wonder though, why can't we, as a people, get into the habit of telling our…

I was never a fan of getting a port and I have one. Lately when I go they have trouble getting to draw blood from it and I don't want chemo done in my viens by iv. Is this something that is common? I am told is does happen, but there really is nothing I can do to prevent it. I just like to know if others have it happen to…

Advice to self of yesteryears!
I was diagnosed with Stage IV colon cancer in April 2012. If the person I am now could speak to who I was then, what would I say? It is an interesting question to contemplate. What advice could I give to me, to help make coping easier? What wisdom could I share that would guide and comfort me through the tougher days? When…

Advice on food ideas for husband please!
I am struggling with what to do for nutrition for my husband. I normally cook pretty regularly as we are a family of 5. My dh just had his second FOLFOX with Avastin added today. Since his last treatment he has lost 4lbs. Might not seem like much, but he is already very skinny. He's down to 159lbs and is 6ft tall. He is…

Is anyone able to work during chemotherapy
I am just wondering if anyone works during chemotherapy. Granted, I am still recovering from my first surgery, but I am only two infusions in, and even just taking a shower exhausts me.

Follow up appointment more confusing than anything
originally she told us 4 treatments, scan, surgery, the rest of treatments. Then it became 6 treatments, scan, surgery, the remaining 6. Now it's well it shrunk so much let's do 4 more treatments scan again, then consider surgery, but maybe finish all 12 treatments surgery, then done. Can I say how much not having an exact…

Good news--touching base
Hi friends: I have been off the board for a few months, but thought I would visit with some good news. For those of you who do not know me, I had a colectomy in March 2017, 3b, and tried chemo, rejected oxilaplatin after one treatment, but did capecitabine (Xeloda) until it caused heart-attack like symptoms. I had a CT…

Results and a blood clot
i only have the results because they called about the blood clot. I guess he has a clot in the catheter? I am guessing port, since thats the only thing he has in his body? Has anyone ever had this? His tumor shrank from 3.8 to 2.5 cm so now we see if he can have surgery. I will know more in the morning, blood thinners…

Scan today results tomorrow
I was not overly worried until his latest CEA result came into his chart. He started chemo at 14.7, one month in was 8.2 and today one month later is 8.7. I know .5 is not horrible I know this in my rational thinking mind, but in my crazy go off the rails with worry wife mode I am certain the scan will show no change and…

Black Stool
I had a positive cologuard test almost 2 weeks ago. I'm still waiting for my colonoscopy. Here's my issue. Over the past 4 days my stool has gone from brown to solid black. I have looked everywhere for what that means and can't find anything except Black Tarry stool, like tar. I am not having that and cannot find any…

Tastes Change
I was in the hospital for 19 days while they cleared my abscess, found the tumor, removed the tumor. Most of the time I was nothing by mouth, with a couple of clear liquids only days. I have not had the desire for sweets or been able to eat sweets since. I tried an oreo when I came out of sedation for my chemo port, and it…

Anyone that had Oxaliplatin that didn't have Neuropathy or had a mild case?
There's a thread with it being a problem and I was wondering if there are people that went through it that had no or minimal symptoms with neuropathy. Going to see the oncologist in about 30 minutes to get set up.

First day Chemo Radiation - Could feel in treatment and now feel burn
I thought it was all in my head. I tried to think it was in my head, I really did. But it wasn't. I could feel the beam on my skin during treatment. When I walked to the changing room, I felt a sunburn. When I looked at my **** in the mirror it was terribly red and creased looking. The redness went away, but the burn is…

Hunkered Down

So tired after first infusion
Is it normal to be so tired. I am still recovering from my bowel surgery too. The first few days during the infusion at hospital and take home infusion, I seemed to have energy. I attributed this to the iron drip I got before treatment. But after, and continuing through the second week, I have about 3 hours a day that I…

Not diagnosed but worried
I am new to this forum and have not been diagnosed with cancer, but am very concerned with my current symptoms: I have been having some pretty significant gastro problems for several months, and have also had a tubular adenoma removed from my colon two years ago. My GI refuses to do another colonoscopy stating "standards…
