Bloody nose
Is it one of the reactions from folfox to experience nose bleed? Is there of you had this experience while on folfox? I had it and having headache too. So scared now. The bleeding isn't constantly but off & on. On headache, I took Tylenol 500mg. It helps the headache go away for a few hours or so. I still have 4 infusions…

How Long?
Everyone: I realize that there is not a "correct" answer to this question, so ballpark estimates are welcome. My wife and I had to terminate a social outing/visit this evening due to my level of discomfort. That was disappointing to both of us. During the one hour drive home she asked me how long it is suppose to take…

Watery, Blurry Eyes
I have noticed over the past three treatments that I am beginning to experience a constant watery eye problem. The problem also seems to be getting worse as the treatments go along. It is also causing me to have a blurry and itchy right eye. Has anyone had this issue with treatments and if so was there anything that you…

How much protein supplement do you take?
I was just trying to research this but the information is confusing and I'm terrible at researching things on line so I'm hoping some of you have ideas. I bought some protein powder and am trying to supplement my food intake with it. My understanding is that if I don't need it it's not a problem but if I do it would be…

Middle of the road
Well, I am at the middle of the road with my FOLFOX 5FU treatment. Went yesterday for the port hook up and now I'm home with a pump until Friday afternoon. I was hoping that those of you in front of me can share your thoughts about the side effects. I am now starting to feel a bit of neuropathy in my fingers, along with…

Newbie Waiting on results
Howdy!! I found these forums while researching colon cancer. My father had colon cancer and I started having symptoms about 3 1/2 yrs ago. My symptoms got worse in the last 18mo, with increased blood in my stool, mucus, and stomach pains almost every day and at least 2-3 times a day. I am going to be 49 next week and had…

Science and angels
Last night I posted a study I found interesting under the title, “New study on meat intake and colorectal cancer.” https://csn.cancer.org/node/311421 Not that I need to explain my rationale, but I found it interesting for two reasons. First, oncologists generally tell you to run away from beef, but at least for women, this…

Painful bowel movements
Hello all - Has anyone had extremely painful bowel movements? I have been using Anusol HC but do not find that it is effective enough. Also taking daily baths to help. I actually had open, bleeding skin due to diarrhea after my last chemo, so I need advice for the skin and probably have an internal fissure as well. I have…

Fretting caregiver
My mom was diagnosed with Stage III Colon Cancer this year. She is undergoing chemo - Capox and it is really taking a toll on her. She is one of the most loving, kind and positive people ever - and while she continues to joke and laugh, it kills me to see her emaciated and not eating. And while in my heart I know she is…

New study on meat intake and colorectal cancer
Once again, from the "for what its worth" department, here is a study with mixed and interesting results about meat intake and colorectal cancer: http://www.tandfonline.com/doi/full/10.1080/16546628.2017.1341810 In the present study, high intake of pork was associated with increased risk of CRC, and especially with colon…

Port Removal
I saw my oncologist last month and although white and red cell counts are low, he casually mentioned that it's been over a year since my surgery and the start of my original chemo and that I could get my port removed any time. I'm scheduled for next week. I can hardly believe it. This time last year I was feeling pretty…

Mexico clinics
I know this topic was widely discussed many years ago, but wondering if recently anyone has considered going to a clinic in Mexico for alternative treatment? While the rationale side of me says there isn't strong evidence to support it, the emotional side still has to consider it. Being faced with potentially taken off…

Increased sense of smell on chemo?
So I'm on Vectibix and I've noticed that my sense of smell is ridiculous. I can smell things other people barely can smell or can't smell at all. With the neausea it's pretty unpleasant. Has anyone else experienced this? It seems to me that I had it on one of the previous chemos, too, but I'm not positive. Jan

Question About Adjuvant Treatment
Hi all, I am new to the forum. My wife was diagnosed with rectal cancer on March 23rd of this year. We have already gone through new-adjuvant treatment as well as LAR surgery a few weeks ago. The final staging, according to the pathology report, was T2N0M0 or Stage I. We have a follow up appointment in a few weeks with the…

Allergic Reaction to Oxaliplatin
I completed my third round of Folfox yesterday but even with the onc reducing the oxy dose prior to treatment, as soon as I began the oxy drip, I started having an allergic reaction. Severe burning and itching on the bottom of my feet and hands and a visible blister rash on my wrist. My vitals seemed to be okay but they…

Vectibix- my latest treatments
Many of you know what happened with the Vectibix the last time I tried it in February. My body overreacted and I became what my onc described as toxic. I had a terrible rash and inflamed nerve endings which made it burn. I bled on my sheets and would have to brush scabs out of my bed every morning. My ears were almost…

Skin Cancer Energized by Rectal Cancer?
Everyone: I mentioned before that I am a prostate cancer survivor (2009) and now am dealing with stage 2 rectal cancer. However, I did not mention that I have had skin cancer (basal and squamous) on my head and face since 2012. Treatment for those lesions has included freezing, burning and excising. In addition to the…

Are we vulnerable to viruses while on chemo?
I know our immune systenm is low but I'm not sure it's the same with all chemos? Maybe some are worse than others for that? I'm on Vectibix and when I see my onc she always stresses that I'm sun sensitive and to be careful but hasn't said anything about low immunity issues. My husband has been battling a stomach bug that…
