Chemo Sux
After 11 years battling this mess, you would think that my body would be accustomed to the chemo by now but nope. It seems like each new episode with chemo is affecting my body more and more. I wonder how long it will be before I cannot tolerate it at all. I had almost forgot how crappy this stuff makes me feel but…

Constipation
Hi there, know some of you might suffer from constipation after rectal surgery and I think I have found what helps for me: 1 large tablespoonful of olive oil mixed with one teaspoonful of lemon juice before you eat in the morning. I used to have this again about 3.30 in the afternoon but don't find it necessary now. I also…

Rolled a 3
I got the official word today. The endoscopic ultrasound was done and it's stage 3 and sits right at the border of the rectum and colon. 30 mm long and 23mm wide. The doctor said since it penetrated a level of tissue in the colon that it got upgraded (As though it's a good thing). Pictures were included, as if I really…

I Had Neuropathy Improvement out of Nowhere Two Years Later :)
During chemo I had all the things, but pretty much minor for a couple of days - hiccups two days once and done for entire treatment, etc. The only ones that were more was losing hair (all over my body pretty much), cold sensitivity and the fun with that when touching things or eating and neuropathy. The hands are probably…

Alpha Mangostin or Mangosteen
Does anyone have any thoughts or experience with alpha mangostin or mangosteen as a dietary supplement? It is supposed to help make 5FU more effective, at least in test-tube experiments. https://www.ncbi.nlm.nih.gov/pmc/articles/PMC5083978/ Thanks.

Clear colonoscopy but still have blood and mucus in stool - very concerned.
Hi all I am 44 and have some concerning symptoms. Last year I had blood when I wiped but didn't think too much of it because I had a clear colonoscopy in 2011 for pelvic pain. Well now for the past few months I noticed blood and mucus in the stool. So then I became a bit freaked out . I had a colonoscopy in May but nothing…

T2 rectal tumor
I've gone through many tests in the last 30 days, and now am waiting for surgery, my surgeon uses the DaVinci Robotic machine to aid in surgery. I have a lot of anxiety, no lymph node involvement, one more test to make sure all is still a confirmed T2 and not a T1, but same outcome is surgery since the tumor is considered…

Appreciative of Angels
I'm sure we've had our days when random, little, encouraging things that people say could get us teary-eyed. I'm reminded of Jan's story about the old guy in the elevator who told her she's gonna be alright. These people might not know the impact of these short messages they say, but it sure does give me an impact. Once, I…

No Chemo For Me
Hi - I'm new to this site. I had emergency surgery Christmas Eve 2016 - desending colon resection - 3mm tumor - Stage II T4A N0 M0 with high grade cells. It happened so fast that I never got my head around the fact that I had cancer and probably had it for years since colon tumors are slow growers. I was stupid because I…

Hello All
I'm Patty. I posted some replies on the existing threads but thought I'd drop by a hello to formally introduce myself. Do you get port draw/flush on your infusion day?
I don't understand why do I get port draw/flush on my infusion day? Why it has to be on the port every time now? I thought port draw is done every month not twice a month? I know I should make a list of questions for my onc. She might have all the answers. She seems nice and understandable and kind doctor. She's from…

Last Week was Hell
I'm sharing this in case there's something in here that's of some help to someone. I've just had the crappiest week. Warning, I'm crabby and upset and probably not going to type in as nice of a way as I susually do, but more like how I really talk. Last Saturday I got up and was so sick. Stomach cramps, noises like the…

And back on the topic of Neuropathy...
I've never fully recovered, and now know I won't (chemo ended 9 years ago.) However, the part that is bothering me more now is that my heels feel as if there is absolutely no padding. Thus everything I do without properly padded/insoled shoes is quite painful. When I get out of bed in the morning, I'm unsteady because my…

Chemo but no radiation?
For Stage 4, does Chemo and radiation go hand in hand? Reading some of the posts it seems like chemo is used regularly for treatment but not too many mentions of radiation. Is Chemo without radiation an option some oncologists go with? Obviously it depends on the person but just trying to get any overall idea. Thanks!
