Question on break in chemo at the very end of treatment.....
Good morning everyone! I haven’t posted in a while but I do come and read almost everyday and keep all of you in my prayers. I had a reoccurrence in May in the plurel area of the lungs, so I have done 10 rounds of Folfori with Avastin. In September my scan came back clear and my last CEA number came in at 3.8 from 29.8.…

So I watch the C word, kind of doesn't fit in life as I know it, but... hey it's the only cancer show. But tonight WOW, her hubby said it all when she told him her death sentence... He said "Does your doctor by any chance wear a long black robe, and have no face, and carrying a scythe? Apparently yours uses it to pokes…

Going to Disney
Kim and I are packing up the kids and heading for Disney World tomorrow. I've always been a stick in the mud about Disney; so this is the first time we've been. Kids are 11, 8 and 4. They're pretty excited. Kim loves Disney. I just hope Mr. Dribbles behaves himself. I have to thank Brooks for helping me see how awesome a…

Good News on Scan
Just got back from the oncologist today. I hadn't seen her for 3 months and I went in for scan results. She told me I just crossed the 21 month NED line since my liver resection. My CEA is tracking at 2.3, down from my high of 300 (before surgery). I have been off chemo for exactly one year. She said that a clean scan at…

One Week Post 1st Chemo Adventure
Yes! I survived a whole week. Today, Monday, is not quite as good as yesterday but, that’s because I think I overdid it yesterday. I woke this morning with a terrible headache that doesn’t seem to want to go away. Plus I actually ate “real” food yesterday so I’m dealing with my hernia not being as happy with solid food as…

My 22-Year-Old Son Has Just been Diagnosed with Stage 4 Colon Cancer
Our lives have been turned upside down, as I'm sure all of you on this board understand... In early October, my son, David, had a colonoscopy because of abdominal pains and some bleeding. The GI thought it was IBS, or at the worst, Crohn's Disease. WRONG. The cancer has metastasized -- three small lesions on his liver and…

Tomorrow I start a new full time job. Back to the land of suits, train passes, commuting, corporate world. After not working for almost two years. How do those of you that are in chemo continue to work? Amazing. This time last year I was recovering from yet an other hospitilization....a bowel obstruction I believe. They…

4 years ago today...
It was 4 years ago today that I first heard those 3 little words, "You have cancer". Stage III cancer, at that! What a scary thing to happen to a person without symptoms on Halloween! (Routine screening colonoscopy.) "But how could this be?" I thought. I take care of myself, eat right, don't smoke, exercise, no family…

Been a LONG time.
Hi All, Haven't checked in for a long time. I'm having my four year checkup November 15th. Diagnosed with stage III rectal cancer September 2006. Did chemo/radiation, surgery, then FOLFOX and Avastin for 8 rounds. With the exception of some depression, weight gain, and a divorce I have been good. My Aunt Paula was…
