My Alaskan Mother... She is with the Lord now
Hello I was on here briefly in the last couple months asking questions concerning my mothers needs and health issues and some of you were wonderfully supportive in your responses. I felt to at least let you all know that my Mom passed away on Sept 7th. We are going to be celebrating her new life with the Lord as a Family…

Questions regarding Sloan or Vanderbilt
Hello. I was diagnosed with stage IV cancer in January of 2007 (at the age of 34). Over the last 2 1/2 years, I have been on a number of different chemo regimens and have had two liver resections (actually, the surgeon just removed two small segments each time). Our family has certainly gone through a trmendous amount of…

What?
Since my husband was diagnosed in 2006, his hearing has deteriorated significantly. He did have chemotherapy (Xeloda, Camptosar and Avastin) but did not have radiation. Has this happened to anyone else? Perhaps his hearing problem is simply the result of growing older, but I wonder about the coincidence of this…

A few months before I found out I had cancer I did a few strange things. Well for me they were strange. I started buying Angel and Cherub pictures and I redecorated my livingroom. It hadn't been long since I had organized all the kids pictures and family photos and few musical instrument pictures on the walls. I started…

Finding it hard to be hopeful
I have been reading the new board for a few weeks and you have all inspired me and given me hope. You all handle your disease with such grace and dignity. My dad is 72 years old. He was diagnosed with Colon cancer 3 years ago. It runs in the family, his sister had it; his mother had it and probably his uncle (died 40 years…

Xeloda - pain possibly from Xeloda?
Hello All: I'm on night 6 of my first week of Xeloda (2000mg 2 X day). Today, especially this evening, I have had a bad stomach ache, like a burning pain in the pit of my stomach. Not having any nausea - I've been really lucky - throughout all the different chemotherapies I've been on, I never had a lot of nausea, just…

A Cancer Journal
Oldtimers here will remember me from a couple of years ago during which time I was dealing with a rogue liver met. At that time I started an online journal of cancer stories, personal updates, reflections, humour, and videos. I stopped posting in October '07 when I was NED and back to work. Now that I'm off work again and…

Radiation Starts Tomorrow
Tomorrow I begin a program of radiation to knock back a recurrent tumour that started on the outside of the rectum and has grown into the sacrum. Ouch! I'm scheduled for 15 daily treatments from now until mid-October. This is all part of dealing with what is a very discouraging development in my 5-year journey with stage 4…

A week in hell.
I’m on my fourth week of chemotherapy treatment with 5-FU and Leucovorin, but not the Oxaliplatin, which I’ve been told is really nasty. I was also told that the side effects of just the 5-FU and Leucovorin are very mild and I probably wouldn’t even have any. After spending the last four days in bed with constant stomach…

Not cancer related but....
Okay, this isn't cancer related but I wanted to share. I live in Villa Rica, Ga. My home is in a corner of the county where several counties merge. Carroll and Douglas Counties are two of the worst hit by the 100 year flood you've seen on the news the past few days. Two days ago, three 2 year olds died within hours of each…
