Do Not Want to Take Aromatase Inhibitors
Hi, I had a lumpectomy and am in the middle of radiation treatments. When radiation is complete it is recommended that I take aromatase inhibitors. Stage 1 invasive no lymph nodes. The Oncotype Dx test put me in the low risk category, but there is a percentage of reoccurance that is there. The AI's are suppose to cut that…

Ovarian cyst post breast cancer
I found out I have an ovarian cyst and I am feeling quite nervous. I finished treatment for breast cancer in May of 2015. The dr. Wants to watch it and recheck it in 3 months. Since I have had breast cancer and I am post menopausal (thank you chemo), I feel like it would be a good idea to remove it. Has anyone had a…

Latent fears
I'm an RN, have been thru SN Bx, bilateral mastectomy with reconstruction underway. (expanders being filled) When I first heard my dx., treatment plan, it was all surreal, but in my "nursing trained" mind, I was "handling" everything well. I had always felt that is I ever diagnosed with Breast Cancer, I would go for…

Lumpectomy with "cage"
Hello everyone, I am new to this group. Just came across it on a search. Wish I would have seen it last year. I went through breast cancer in 2015. Chemo followed by lumpectomy then radiation. During my lumpectomy surgery last August my surgeon put in something she called a "cage" in place of where the tumor was. She told…

Cancer Fighting Alternative Treatments?
Since I'm newly diagnosed, a number of people are now telling me of all these wholistic or alternative medicines. One in particular is Essiac tea, another is guanabana. Does anyone have any first hand experience with alternative treatments? I know just because something is natural, or non-prescriptive, it doesn't…

Happy Cancer Survivors Day!
I went to a celebration for cancer survivors today and had a ball! I laughed and cried and left feeling awed and renewed. They said your survivorship starts the day you're diagnosed, so Happy Survivors Day to you all! Much love!

Pet Scan and Sentinel node biopsy
I will be having a sentinel node biopsy in 6 weeks. I'm kind of nervous about it and don't really know what to expect. I know it's a day procedure with anesthesia. Is it the type of anesthesia you have with a colonoscopy or the type I will have when I have my mastectomy. Any other advice? thanks!

Pleased to meetcha!
I've been lurking and posting here and there, but haven't yet shared my breast cancer story. I was diagnosed in July 2015 after my annual mammogram. They said it was a small tumor, the size of a pea, and I was Stage 1. I opted for the lumpectomy and lo, I went in a Stage 1, and came out a Stage 3. There were 2 tumors, the…

5/31 Port Installation
Thumbs up! Yesterday 5/31: had the Port installed near my right shoulder. As ever, i kinda spazzed over having to get the IV inserted -- they wanted to put it in my hand and i just broke down and cried. I know it's not rational, but i just am seriously bothered by needles. So they were very accomodating, and when i got…
