Update on Cypress Cynthia from sister Patsy on 12/11/2014
"We've had a miracle today. Eileen woke up, was able to use her phone, and started discussing her medical treatment. I don't know what to think except either the chemo is starting to work or she starved her cancer. She has been off narcotics which is not the direction that end of life cancer patients go- they are usually…

A Post from Cypress Cynthia's Sister 12/10/14
I had a smile on my face and tears running down my cheeks when I read this from Eileen's sister today. This morning feeling very sad about my sister and notice a missed call from her on my phone-thought it must be a mistake. I called her husband and Eileen got on the phone and I managed to put my sister Wendy on as well…

Oncotyping rating
Does anyone know what the number is for the oncotyping rating when doctors are looking at possible chemo? I thought my oncologist said it had to be over 30% for chemo to be recommended. I'm just wondering if there is a recommended number I should focus on. I meet with the oncologist tomorrow and I'm already building up…

Update from Cypress Cynthia's Sister 12/9/14
"I was thinking about Eileen today and know how many of you have sent your thoughts and prayers over the last 18 months. It really did have a positive impact on her and I am sad that she can no longer read your comments. She is quiet now, not speaking much and mostly sleeping. Danny remains at her side and has been an…

Grade and KI67 ratings
I'm curious....how much value do oncologists place on the grade and KI67 score when deciding treatmwnt? My grade was considered 3+ and my Ki67 was 38% and "unfavorable." I was told as soon as the stage is known (mine is 2A) that that is what doctors really rely on. What does the "unfavorable" mean on the Ki67 rating? I…

Christmas *Joke* ....
Ten worst gifts to buy a woman 1. Never give a woman any kind of household appliance or something that is going to make "housework" easier. For instance, a blender, a toaster, a new vacuum, one of those mops they advertise on tv that does everything but suck the life out of you, anything in a informercial. One allowed…

IDC and High-grade/extensive DCIS, both left breast, ER+, PR+, HER2-, Stage 2A, Grade 3+, Waiting on
I was diagnosed in October with invasive ductal carcinoma and high-grade extensive DCIS, Grade 3+, Stage 2A, "unfavorable" Ki67. I chose a lumpectomy and had the surgery on 11/14/14. Originally, the treatment plan was going to be radiation (30 rounds) and Tamoxifen (Hormone therapy) for the first five years, then a…

Cypress Cynthia Updated 12/5/14 (New update 12/6/14)
Following is what Eileen's daughter, Katherine, posted yesterday. Let's continue to keep them in our thoughts and prayers. Mom had a rough night, but a pretty good day. She ate a little egg and some popsicle. She even put in jeans and walked to the end of the driveway twice. First time I have seen her in real clothes in at…

Breast forms and garment recommendation while healing fr bilateral mastectomy
I will be having a bilateral mastectomy around the middle of January. I am doing chemo before surgery and will be finished December 15. I will be having radiation on one side only following surgery. I have decided not to have immediate reconstruction. I was just curious what some of you in this situation might have done…

Chemo choices, personal experience wanted!
I saw the oncologist today and received the final pathology report, they did find a few (<10) cancerous cells in one of my lymph nodes, which is still technically considered node negative due to such a small number and the type of cells. This doesn't really change anything since I already knew I had to do chemo since my…

Bone pain
I'm new to this forum and new to bone mets. Anyone have any suggestions for bone pain (mainly in sacrum area). It's not bad pain, just an achyness that gets worse as the day goes on. Haven't started chemo yet, so hoping that will help shrink the area ( the met is about 1.4 cm), but don't know if I can expect that or not.

Survivorship Clinic
My infusion center sponsors a Survivorship Clinic, which I attended today. I was surprised when they'd allotted 3 hours for the clinic, but it really did last that long. They had about 4 of us each in our own private exam room, and they had a rotation schedule all written up so that by the end we had all seen who we…
