getting a wig
Hi all. I will be starting my chemotherapy in a couple of weeks and I will be losing my hair. People have suggested that I look into getting a wig made. Does anyone have any information about places that make wigs?

Long Time No Post
Hello Pink Warriors. Its been a while since I last posted. I have not had such good luck. I don't even remember if I posted that I had an aortic valve replacement and spent a month in Johns Hopkins, then 3 weeks in a nursing home rehab facility, only to have kidney failure. I am now on dialysis three times a week and am…

First Post OP Mammo
on Wednesday ... I am scared because I can feel 2 kinda sorta lumps above my right breast. Not sure if a mammo will get a look at them. This is nerve racking! The lumps don't feel like the one I had when I was diagnosed. They feel hard and lumpy and not quite as big as the original one. Please pray I have nothing to worry…

One year ago today...
I had to tell my family I have breast cancer. My birthday is tomorrow. On the 21st of last July I had a complete mastectomy of my left breast. I am not going to celebrate an anniversary that was so hard on my family....but I AM going to celebrate that I am still alive!!! I hope all of you are doing well, and thank you for…

Lets cut out the argumentive jargon on here,
In the last week, the jabs, lack of respect for one another, and plain old arguing has gotten out of hand. It is causing riff's and almost forcing people to take sides. If you don't agree with someone, there are ways of expressing your opinion without the rude comments. It is not in anyone's place to force their views on…

Chat Rooms?
Did a little more exploring on this site today. The couple of times I have been to the chat rooms there was no one there. Finally ran into one other person today. Have you ever used them? Anybody interested in setting up a BC chat, either as just a one time thing or maybe a regular weekly thing?

Please share your favorite quote or your personal "mantra"
My "mantra"... Life is about what is. It is not about what if? or why me? It is about what surrounds me in this moment. From Chenheart..."we do what we have to do, so we can do what we want to."

CHEMO-INDUCED PHERIPHERAL NEUROPATHY
I definitely have this from everything I've experienced and read. I know it seems like nothing when living or dying is the only thing that matters, but I have dealt with this for ten years and am told that everything should be normal now. I need a diagnosis now because it is interfering with my job. The doctors just don’t…

TRAM HERNIA
I chose the Tram Flap procedure for my surgery since I would get a tummy tuck with the deal. My tummy was flat for about two weeks. Then I herniated on that one side, and it is huge. I can tell where the muscle is fine on one side and gone on the other. I am probably among the few though. I was probably too fat to begin…

Has anyone ever had a DNA test to see if you can take a certain chemo?
A friend of ours oncologist had him take a DNA test to see if he could have the chemo Erbitux. His onco said it was to see if it was compatible for him. I've never heard of this and just wondered if any sister here had one before. Thanks! Leeza

nipple tattoos
Can anyone recommend a nipple tattoo place in the ny-nj area? I had mine done 10 years ago (this is my 10th anniversary of being cancer free!!!) My plastic surgeon did the original, but it faded quite a bit - it's been like this for quite some time, but I decided to retattoo as an anniversary present to myself! I think I…

Cancer Nutrition
Has anyone done any reading on cancer nutrition? Seem keeping blood sugar down would help a lot. http://escapetheherdblog.blogspot.com/2012/06/cancer-minus-glucose-equals-dead-cancer.html http://escapetheherdblog.blogspot.com/2011/09/cancer-post.html

brain MRI today - no sign of cancer
Big relief. I had really gotten myself worked up over mets. No brain mets however I have chronic ischemia disease (dead cells/lack of oxygen to brain) which is localised. The follow ups will be scheduled next week. Also have a sinus infection with a cyst in one of the nasal passages. Wow! This explains the rapid decline in…

Blood Pressure Cuffs - FYI - Important - There are 2 Sizes
Found out yesterday when my blood pressure was taken that there are two different size cuffs. Because my arms are larger, the nurse put the larger cuff on my arm. My blood pressure was 116/78. I told her that was the lowest reading for the past few years. She then told me that if you have a larger arm and a normal sized…

Reminder! Get a baseline ultrasound of uterus if you are taking Tamoxifen, Armidex, Anastrozole, or
REMINDER! If you are or have been on Tamoxifen, Armidex, Anastrozole, or Femara, it is important that you get a baseline ultrasound of your uterus and then follow up with a second ultrasound two years later. Before I started these drugs, my first ultrasound (2 years ago) showed my uterus to be in perfect condition.…

Chest Pains
I think I saw a passing mention of this on another thread, but now I can't find it again. Has anybody else ever gotten chest pains while on radiation treatments? I don't mean chest pains as in a heart attack, but more like muscle cramps. I've had this for a few minutes several times in the last week or so. I only have one…

Symptom question
I am having some pain on right side of right breast (not quiet in armpit, but on edge toward it.) I don't feel a lump, but I had a breast reduction 6 years ago so it's hard to tell what's scar tissue and etc. I guess my question is, did anyone have pain when they were diagnosed? Thanks in advance for your help.

A little something extra for the 4th of July
In addition to the usual things we celebrate on Independence Day, I also celebrated independence from hats/scarves/wigs. July 4 was the first time I went out in public without a head covering since I had it shaved back last December. Feels great to have hair again (albeit very short still)!

sunburn and a way to keep it cool
Hi guys, I took my daughter and her friend swimming. I had my daughter spray my head with sunscreen, but she missed a large spot just above my forehead. So of course I have a sunburn there. Anyway, I found a really cool (forgive the pun) way to keep my scalp cool. My daughter's dance teacher gave all the backstage mom's a…

Pain Meds
The aching from the chemo has been very hard to deal with. Do any of you use pain meds other than Tylenol or advil, etc. (these really do nothing for me). Everytime I mention this I feel like the P.A. and Dr. just blow me off. I take TCH and will have the 4th of 6 on July 16th. Any input would be greatly appreciated.

Hope it is OK to post here
My name is Tina, I am 37 years old. I found lumps months ago. Finally made an appointment last Monday with GP. He said he felt them too. Said I would need a mammo in 2 weeks. 2 DAYS later, the hospital phones and says I am getting an ultrasound instead. Tech was a cow. Before she scanned me, she scolded me for being there,…

Tongue-tied?
Okay, not sure if I can blame this on Chemo brain or perhaps Menopausal brain fog but I feel like I get my words mixed up and they come out sounding like I'm tongue-tied. I can carry on a conversation but it just seems like I've noticed it getting to be a little more often that I "mix" words. I feel okay, and I know what…
