** A Christmas Ha Ha **
Did Santa Give You That Present? On Christmas morning a cop on horseback is sitting at a traffic light, and next to him is a kid on his shiny new bike. The cop says to the kid, "Nice bike you got there. Did Santa bring that to you?" The kid says, "Yeah." The cop says, "Well, next year tell Santa to put a tail-light on that…

Please make sure you are in control of your body!
I started having Mammograms and yearly check-ups when I was forty, just like I was suppose to. When I discovered my tumor it was already over 2cm. ( I was 50 yrs old) I didn’t really think it could be anything because I always did what I was suppose to right? I was scheduled for a monogram on the day I discovered the…

Just diagnosed 2 hours ago.........
I am 18 months out from a Papillary Thyroid Cancer DX. Had a total thyroidectomy with Radioactive Iodine Treatment. I had some positive nodes that were removed, as well. At my 6 month checkup, they discovered another positive node (and a few more "iffy" ones) and hoped to get that with the one year tracer dose of RAI. It…

March 26, 2010.. about a 1/2 hour after I got home from biopsy, police raided the townhouse next door. Here's what became of it. http://www.syracuse.com/news/index.ssf/2011/12/clay_man_gets_20_years_for_mas.html I had no idea this was going on. It made me sick to hear. And I had felt bad for thinking he looked like the…

Oncotype DX score & my decision...
Hi Ladies, I had my appointment with the MO yesterday and my onco scores were 11 and 18. I have decided not to have chemo with those scores, the 11 being so low and the 18 right at the beginning of the "gray" area. My cancer was stage 2, ER/PR +, HER2- with no node involvement. I will start Armidex soonish, as soon as I…

Secret Santa
How about some clues here as to the identity of my Secret Santa??? The only thing I know is that she is from Kansas and works in Missouri. I'd like to thank her for the box of goodies that included a snowflake trimmed with pink sparkles, and a dangling glitzy pink ornament. Then, you are not going to believe this, but it…

What do you do for scar tissue?
I have some scar tissue from my lumpectomy and rads and my oncologist said he could set me up with a PT to massage it and it would really help. I massage it myself every now and then, but, it is still there. Anyone else go to a PT for this and did it help? Thanks, Leeza

I will be seeing my oncologist soon to discuss whether to stay on aromasin (exemestane) after 5 years of it and 2 years before that of tamoxifen. Does anyone know of any research or have personal experience with how long one should stay on it? This is my first day as a "member" of this site. Is there spellcheck? :o )

lots to consider...
First, the update...as you may remember, my onc recently changed my chemo since the xeloda wasn't working. The onc was recommending taxol. After a tip from our dear friend Phoenix Rising, I did some research and asked my onc about abraxane instead. Both taxol and abraxane are really paclitaxel, but the binding agent is…

Preventing Mouth Sores
Chemo can give mouth sores and my oncologist told me not to brush with my regular toothpaste. So my husband went to our local pharmacy and bought me Arm and Hammer Advanced White Baking Soda & Peroxide toothpaste. I never got one mouth sore. I can't guarantee it will work for you, but it did the trick for me.

Scar tissue
My body loves to make scar tissue after surgeries. I had a bilateral mastectomy that my doctor botched on June 8, 2011. 9 weeks later a plastic surgeon had to clean up his mess and remove breast tissue left behind. I am not cut from the middle of my chest back to my spine on both sides. The scar tissue is so thick that it…

Vision: Has anyone had their vision deteriorate?
Shortly after receiving chemo (which ended in this May) I noticed the vision in my "right" eye has deteriorated to the point where everything is pretty much a blurr. I used to have good vision in both eyes. My left eye wasn't effected. I intend to go to an eye doctor in January (after my radiation treatments end). I am…

"The Pink Bus" History, sort of...
The “Pink Bus” is used by many online breast cancer support groups to help those who need buoying up in a virtual sense on their journey. I “google” the words “breast cancer “pink bus” and could not find any history. There were many busses painted pink for awareness. There are many groups I am certain that will claim the…

what if chemo and radiation doesn't get it all?
Some history. My mother was first diagnosed with breast cancer in 1988 at the age of 47. She had a lumpectomy, chemo and radiation. She was diagnosed the second time in 2004 (age 63). It was not a recurrence but a "new" cancer in the same breast as before. Treatment was a mastectomy only. It was caught early. Fast forward…
