I don't quite know how to deal with this
A friend from my cancer support group passed away last week. I went to her memorial service on Saturday. She was a sweet soul and I loved her. She joined the group at about the same time I did. When we joined, she was just finishing chemo and on to rads and I was just finished with rads, so I was a little farther along…

Lost power for 5 days but had "angel wings" removed
We lost power on Sunday morning at 9:20am. I was scheduled for surgery on Wednesday. By Tuesday night we had to go stay with my sister-in-law in another town. We stayed there until Friday. Had to throw away all food in fridge and freezer. Now about my surgery.... I think my surgeon (who I really like) and I were not on the…

Should I stop chemo?
Hello everyone! I haven't posted in a while, been going through chemo. That's the problem. I have had a horrible time with it. I'm taking Taxotere/Cytoxin and have had 2 out of 4 treatments. I'm on my 3rd onc and they all suck. They dont listen to my concerns or side effects till something goes wrong and then they dont…

Do you have cancer????
How do you guys handle people that you don't even know personally asking you if you have cancer? I work at a clinic discharging patients, scheduling appointments, answering the phones etc. an average of 60 people come to the clinic every day. For the most part they just stare at with my scarf and then leave. Today I had 2…

Thanks
You ladies are awesome, thank you for the advice on my upcoming mastectomy! It's comforting to be able to discuss this with people that have 'been there, done that', as opposed to people that haven't. Thanks so much!!

Here I am at MD Anderson
Arrived promptly at the Mays Cancer Center (a small part of MD Anderson but huger than most hospitals) at 7 AM. My first impressions: very, very huge place with very futuristic look; many bubbly zen-like fountains and scuptures; many saltwater aquariums; everything pristine. That is my photo in front of one of the bubbly…

Flying and lymphedema
Planning my first trip in 2 years! Flight time is approx. 2-1/2 hrs. Should I worry about lymphedema? I think I had some slight swelling, gone now, doctors say they saw nothing. 18 Lymph nodes removed. Should I wear a compression garment, just in case? Thanks, Marlene

thoughts about pain pills
Hi all, I just wanted to get some thoughts from you as to how you manage pain. I was on femara for 6 months but switched to tamoxifen due to terrible side effects, joint pain, etc... It's not much better on tamoxifen, but I manage due to the help of one 5-500 hydrocodone with acetaminophen. I take this only at night to…

Upcoming mastectomy
Hi, I'm having a double mastectomy on 9-15 and it seems the closer the surgery date the more anxious I get, having trouble sleeping, grouchy with everyone, having a hard time keeping everything on an even keel for the kids (6 & 9); guess I'm just not ready to say goodbye to my girls yet. I know most of you have already…

Flu bug?
I am not sure what I had this past weekend but it wasn't fun. Friday I had the chills, a 101 degree temperature and muscle aches.
