swimsuits
Hi all I was wondering if anyone ordered swimsuits from Lands End. They are having a great sale for three days. I was thinking of ordering the one piece Carmela and the one piece Grecian. And what kind of breast form do you have to use? Angie

Ticked Off
I belong to breastcancer.org too. I was searching for an old post for someone else and found a respnse to me on my DCIS. I had thought I had had her blocked, but for some reason she was unblocked and saw a post she had responded to me about. I had DCIS and a double mastectomy. Very very rarely it seems that women would…

OT - Last Survivor of the Bataan Death March died.
The last survivor of the Bataan Death March (1942) died at 105. After Dr. Albert Brown was freed in i945, he was told that he probably wouldn't live to 50 - he showed them. For the younger ones, in 1942 the Bataan Death March happened. It was a 65 mile forced march of prisioner by the Japanese. During the march 10,000…

Wow didn't see this coming......proof of how uniformed people can be.....
Ok if you have followed me at all I have been a big whiner about going on short term disability. It's been humbling to realize I can't work full time this school year and that I really do need to take some time off to just deal with my life, family and resting. I worked a half day today and had five people stop me to tell…

Is There a Best Time of Day for Radiation?
I am having my radiation simulation on Friday, and I figure they will want to set my radiation schedule. I go to work every day so I would like schedule it for early in the morning or late in the afternoon. Assuming I have a choice, is one time better than another? Thanks. Mary

After being free of cancer for a year it has now metastisized
I found out yesterday that the breast cancer has metastisized to the lumbar portion of my spine so I see the radiation oncologist next week to see what the next step is. As for the lung biopsy it turns out (and I knew when they were doing it) they biopsied the wrong section and now I'll have to go through another…

Good morning lovely ladies: I received this email from a co-worker who is a chemical engineer. Thought it might interest you. Friends and Colleagues, This message has nothing to do with any of the things about which we usually communicate. Every once in a while people come across things that they feel obligated to share…

Has anyone heard of this/?
I was checking back at old posts here on BC for info on raising wbc. Has anyone heard of taking BOVINE COLOSTRUM? It's the first milk of mammels, it's a natural immune booster. I will ask my onc. but I thought some of my pinksisters have heard of this booster or someone has taken it? The sister that posted it (2001) said…

Dex Scan?
I am new here. I am a fairly new survivor too, less than year. I am taking the med. "anastrozole"(been on it for the past 5 mos) - which makes me feel nauseous, extremely tired, aching feet &/or extremely hungry-- weird eh? Got a appt. card from my oncologist, that I have a Dex scan scheduled. Can anyone tell me why I…

Have you ever asked your Dr. to prescribe...
Have you ever asked your Dr. to prescribe diet pills so you can lose some of the weight gained from their 'treatment' it SEEMS like a no brainer. So, I'm thinking of doing just that. I have zero experience with weight loss. All my (adult) life, up until I began being treated for breast cancer I've always weighed 103lbs.…

OT - ever just want to kick your car?!! :)
No, really...so I go out to the car. I get in despite the 100+ degrees it is inside, put the key in the ignition and then...nothing. The key no longer turns the ignition. Now, NOW, I find that it's a somewhat common feature with these cars! It's not like I can go to the dealer or anything...can you guess what kind of car I…

Gallstones
Hey, Re and others - this was on the uterine cancer board: from CancerWatch "The effects of chemotherapy greatly weaken the liver's detoxification abilities. For example, chemotherapy and radiotherapy kill cells. Some cancer cells, some normal cells. And the dead cells pass to the liver, which has to work hard to break…

Today's Annual Mammo Leads to a Biopsy...
... already scheduled for one week from today, next Monday morning, the 22nd. Pathology results a few days later. Described as "tiny" and "very suspicious" - the other breast, up 'til now the "good" one. Admit that I'm simultaneously frightened and very angry (sorry, dear Chen). Am hoping my pink sisters and Kindred…

Stage 1 - invasive ductual carcinoma
I was told my sister has stage 1 carcinoma. Can anyone tell me if a lumpectomy worked instead of having the breast removed with this type of cancer? Thanks for your input.

I went for my 6 month follow up with my breast specialist who oversees the cancer and reconstruction of it all. She was unaware they took me off the tamoxifen and put me on anastrozole (believe its a generic form of arimidex). I told her they switched me cuz i was allergic to the tamoxifen. She kinda freaked over this...in…

OT-Cold Tuna Noodle Salad/Casserole
Sorry for the way off topic post but as disgusting as I may think it is, my wonderful partner has put in a request for a cold tuna noodle casserole/salad for when we go camping next week. I remember it having tuna (of course), maybe mayo/salad dressing, peas, medium shell noodles and peas. I don't have a recipe and am not…

Remind me....this is a good thing.....
I am trying to work some this week to get things ready for my students but starting next week I am taking short term disability. I only worked half day because I was so tired this morning I just couldn't even work on schedules or lesson plans. I came home and took a nap but woke up feeling sad. It's so humbling that I can…

So upset!
Please help me. I just called for my blood test results and I was hoping and praying that my WBC and nutraphils went up. Well they DID NOT! I am so dissappointed I could cry. I have been taking all the right vitamins. I always eat healthy and I was sure it was going to be OK. She told me the WBC is still 2.9 and nutriphils…

Update..Low platelets and WBC's any suggestions?
Hello warriors, I'm still here, still waiting for my counts to come up. I had labs done today and my WBC is still very low and my platelets have dropped even more :( Doc is going to check again on Thursday to see if they come up. I'm praying they come up soon...my mind is running away with me on the "no chemo" business, as…

I'm done...
with chemo!! Woooohooo :) I met with my oncologist after 4 rounds of TC and he gave me the word. After flipping back and forth between the original plan of 4 and a later discussion of 6, we decided on 4. I'm having a couple slight toxicity issues and he feels really confident with 4 being aggressive enough for my…
