I am learning as I go along with all of this. One day I went in for a mammogram and the next like normal I am being called back for an ultrasound, then biopsy, sure enough the very beginning stages of ductal carcenoma. My Gyno set up an appt. with a surgeon where he sent me to a plastic surgeon. Had an MRI for the…

OT-But just had to share!
Yesterday I was walking around on my back porch & my movement scared a bird out of my old duck pen & it flew off into a tree just outside of the fence. It was chirping and it sounded odd, yet familiar.(I hadn't seen it yet) I then noticed 2 Blue Jays hovering over this bird like they were about to strike at it. It was a…

Nerve block?
I am suffering chronic pain from lymph node removal under the left arm. There seem to be 2 types - one a burning sensation, like someone lit a blow torch under my armpit, and another pain radiating down the truck and towards the left. Surgery was May 2010. I saw a pain management guy who increased my dosage of Gabapentin…

Anxiety Level After Surgery: Lumpectomy vs. Mastectomy
Good morning beautiful ladies! I've been thinking and would like to learn more about this treatment option, mastectomy. I know the basics: it decreases chances of new cancers from happening by 95%, but not the one you already have as lumpectomy and radiation are the same as mastectomy, for the diagnosed cancer. It also…

I'm a newbie here to this forum and to having Breast Cancer. Your posts have made me laugh and cry, given me hope, encouragement and a feeling of special kinship with this pink sisterhood. Arimidex
I have been on Arimidex since Dec 2010. Doc said side effects should get better after 6 months. I am getting very impatient! The stiffness I have is aweful. Anyone have any words of wisdom? Oncologist this week said, stick with it. Hard to do! But I don't want the cancer to come back so I guess I'm stuck. Chris

Silly ...... "brain squeezers"
So, in a few of my ornery moments I had been telling family and friends that I needed some wide headbands with huge flowers on them to wear so that I could ditch my wigs. I said that if infant girls can do it "big" girs should be able to also. Just a headband with a big flower and big funky earrings. Okay...be careful…

Hi my Beautiful ladies! I hope you are having a great time during this holiday weekend. I wanted to share my current situation. I know I am not going crazy. I feel with each treatment, and week that passes, I get different pains (throbbing) and feelings. However, I feel them more prominent on the side I had surgery, and…

Radiation graduate !!!
Woohoo... I just finished my final treatment about an hour ago and I got the diploma to prove it. It was kind of a bittersweet moment, Paula said to me before leaving the room for the final dosage "last one Lorrie". I laid there on that table trying to hold back my emotions. Six and a half weeks led to this last 30 second…

One year ago today
Was my hysterectomy for endometrial cancer. May 11 was my 1 year anniversay for my breast cancer surgery. So, by my definition, the hysterectomy removed the last of any nasty cancer cells that I'd been growing and I've been cancer free for a year! That's my story and I'm sticking to it. Yahoo! Suzanne
