medical menopause
My 4th and/or 5th round of chemo started me into medical menopause. Just finished 6th and last round of CEF and the FSH test determined for sure that I am in menopause. When a woman is early in menopause like I am, the ovaries are not totally shutdown, right? Doesn't that happen after she's been in it a while--it's not…

Was wondering if any of you went through chemotherapy without a port and how treatment went for you. I will probably have a port put in next week and right now am just not looking forward to more surgery. Doctor says treatment usually goes better with a port. What do you think?

Chemo/radiation menu
Does anyone know the thought process behind the order in which you get chemo and radiation? Some people seem to get one first then move on to the other. I am on a course of 4 CMF treatments, then 6 weeks of radiation, the back to 4 more CMFs. Any ideas?

looking for a cause
I'm trying to find out the name of the drug that was used for pregnant women in the late 70's who chose not to breastfeed. It was an injection in the arm just after giving birth and it dried up your milk. Seems to me many women, including myself, who have been diagnosed with breast cancer recently had that shot. I'm just…

What is going on with the swelling!
OK I finished a 12 week round of tazotere 2 weeks ago. I had some swelling in my left (surgery/no nodes) that I figured was the start of lymphadema so I got my oncologist to set me up with a physical therapist. Cool - No, that all happened over the last 2 days. Now, today I come home from work and my ankles are HUGE! What…

Rogaine??
My hair is growing back in pretty rapidly but I have a few places where there doesn't seem to be any hair at all! YIKES! Has anyone ever tried Rogaine after chemo to speed up hair regrowth? Or at least to fill in the empty spots? After all I've been through it feels pretty silly to be so vain but I really want to quit…

Radiation soon--more blood tests?
In a couple weeks I'll be doing the radiation portion of my breast cancer treatment. Since the beginning of November, I've had to have my blood drawn every single Monday...either for A/C or Taxotere chemo and before and after mastectomy surgery. For anyone who went through radiation therapy...do you have to get blood drawn…

How long does the fatigue last?
I finished my last round (4 in all) of AC Chemotherapy 3 weeks ago. I'll start Tamoxifen in July. I'm wondering how long it takes before I'll really have all my strength back? I'm still very fatigued. Still dealing with side effects of the chemo (dry eyes, especially). I get worn out so easily, and seem to have no…

Arimedex
Hi all! I'm on Arimedex instead of Tamoxifen(spelling). I don't hear much from you all about this. Anyone else out there on it? My oncologist chose it because I have a family history of Uterine cancer and the tomoxifen increases this risk. The Arimedex is new but so far does not seem to increas the risk of overian or…

Will this ever end
I was diagnosed on Dec. 16th, had two mastectomies over the next few weeks and began a/c chemo in February. I began taxotere on May 15th and have had a terrible time of it over the past week. From extreme fatigue to intense body pain which has been followed by a very tender mouth, extremely sore feet and now tender fingers…

my mom is gone......
My mother passed away from bc mets. I sat vigil with her for 18 hours until she left us. I was begging the lord to take her- it was so hard to see her suffering. After she died my aunt told me that she was ready to go a couple of weeks ago, but she didn't want to die before or on my birthday- May 18th. She died the next…

Fatigue after chemo
I had my first chemo last week. Had it on Friday so I could go back to work on Monday. I have a couple of co-workers that did just that and it worked out just fine. The nausea was nothing worse than being pregnant, but I was not prepared for the extreme fatigue. I didn't make it in at all on Monday, only lasted 1 1/2 hrs…

Chemo thru but still feeling yucky?
How long after you finish Chemo do you begin to see changes for the better? Nails not so sore and bruised, food not tasting like cardboard, tiredness not a constant, eyes stop flooding and nauseau not a problem? Scared to Death
I just found out today that I have breast cancer. I had a surgical biopsy on Monday and got the results today. The mass that was removed was about 2.5 cm, but there is a bit more left. The doctor has asked me to think about what I'd like to have done. I'm leaning toward mastectomy with reconstruction surgery along with it.…

First Chemo/Summer Vacation
I will be starting chemotherapy in June(either 4 cycles of AC or 6 of CMF). I was very nervous about chemo a month ago when I first posted to this board! New to all of this
I had my masctectomy last week and just met with my oncologist yesterday. Although I had heard the side effects of nausea and hair loss, I hadn't considered the possibility of chemo shutting my ovaries down for life. While my life is of course most important now, up until about four weeks ago my biggest nightmare was not…

Newjersey25 deserves congratulations!!!
Hi! I am Fawn's sister-in-law - I actually told her about this site, so every now and then I read the posts. (I do this not to be nosy, but mostly to learn!) Anyway, I don't think Fawn told you all - she recently participated in a Breast Cancer walk. With the help of her Aunt Donna and many others, she raised over $2,000…
