My biopsy results are NED!!!
My doctor called today and told me that my biopsy results show no signs of cancer!! I was at work and cried like a baby. Hats off to a clever coworker who knew I was waiting on the results and thought to ask me "Is it good?". At that moment all I could do beyond crying was shake my head YES!! She yelled for me..then the…

Planned CSN outage
Hello everyone, Between 3:00 and 4:00 Eastern Time this morning, CSN will be taken offline for about 2 hours. Exhaustive efforts were made to find a way to restore all private messaages. I'm not qualified to provide technical details but the bottom line is that all private messages that you sent from September 2009 forward…

marking a milestone - anyone else?
I'm going back to work today! I'll be half-time for a while but it's so good to know that I can do this. I'm excited and apprehensive. I've been away from work for seven months and now it's over. Thinking about my milestone - last day of treatment, hearing that my tumor is gone, getting my straggly short hair cut and…

repost of groove question
I've had this groove in my poop since prior to diagnosis and assume that it was the tumor. But I still have it. I feel confident that the tumor was "killed" and that my cancer is cured and will have biopsies when the time is right just to satisfy my gastroenterologist's curiosity (but not a PET scan because the…

Tumor pain after radiation
I completed my radiation treatment 3 weeks ago and am still having pain at the tumor site. Burns are healing quite nicely. Has anyone else experienced pain at the tumor site post radiation?

skin issues
I was wondering if anyone else has had perineum skin issues months after treatment has ended? First my inner labia grew together after I had long stopped use of silvadine and had moved to acquafor(sp?). After wearing underpants 3 weeks ago, my skin developed infected blisters and swollen red kind of chapped looking skin.…

a groove
So, I've had this poop groove since prior to Dx and assume that it was the tumor. But I still have it. First, let me say that I feel confident that the tumor was "killed" and that my cancer is cured. I'm not even worried about it and will have biopsies when the time is right just to satisfy my gastroenterologist's…

2 years
Well, i just realized that yesterday was the 2 year anniversary of my last day of treatment for this cancer! In many ways it seems like another lifetime ago, in some ways, yesterday. Still, it is something to celebrate. At least there is no evidence of this cancer. Because I still have another cancer, it doesn't feel like…

Newbie
I am 42 years old and was diagnosed Feb. 20, 2013. Luckily, I am stage 1. I would love any input on what to expect. When did you start feeling really bad? I will start chemo and radiation March 4 for 6 weeks. Were you able to continue to work through week 3? I'm frightened but so so hopeful because of the stage and it's…

the weirdest side effect ...
I don't know if this is from the chemo or the radiation but my guess is the chemo... My skin has changed... I used to have really rough, bumpy skin, on butt, on legs, on arms.... the skin is now as smooth as a baby's... I mean smooth. Soft. It's neither good nor bad but just something that I noticed. Has anyone else…

1 Week Done
It was so good to have the pump removed today. Little scare with very low b/p and oxygen. Had leg ultrasound and chest ct, both were negative-port is a little inflamed. I already have mouth sores which is disappointing, I have been religious about the MuGard. I am looking forward to a weekend of no doctors and two weeks of…

same problem, different day
Well, first off, I feel almost guilty for compaining about what I'm about to complain about, in light of the much, much more serious issues that others are dealing with. In light of that, I'll simply mention it and won't dwell too long on it. I'm tired. I mean really, really tired. I assume that it's acute radiation…

Clinical trials
Curious if any of you ladies have participated in a clinical trial with the vaccine ADXS11-001. I am from the gynboards with metastatic cervical cancer which is almost always HPV induced the same as with anal cancer. This vaccine targets the E6 or E7 protein displayed on HPV viral induced tumors. They are in phase II…

myelodysplastic syndromes
I had my semi-annual checkup with oncologist this week. It seems that my white blood cell count has been dropping. Six months ago it was 3.8 - now it is 3.5. From what I've read, normal is 4.5 to 10. My anal cancer was diagnosed in April 2009 and I completed treatment in June of that year. I'm a bit concerned because one…

Vaginal Dialator
No one in the radiologists office has mentioned using one of these so I am going to broach the subject tomorrow. I know many of you have used them, is it something you have purchased/educated yourselves with or more a part of your medical treatment plan and provided/educated as such? Thanks in advance

I'M VERY ANAL
I Hope and feel I've finally found a forum for my personal experience, and hopefully, as I go through this process, I'll he able to help others.... This Thursday (Feb 21) I will at last have the doctors' meeting to discuss my diagnosed (recurrent) anal cancer. I already know they will be advising chemoradiation therapy,…

Alternative Treatments.
So I am a recent diagnosis of Rectal Cancer. I did 6 weeks of chemo/radiation. The radiation was really horrible as some of you probably know, unfortanately. I am currently feeling the best I've felt since I was dianosed though. I had a tumor blocking almost 60% of my colon at the time I went to the emergency room. The…

1 Down, 31 To Go!
Finally got started yesterday, sounds strange to say you are so happy to start chemo and radiation but I am sure everyone here understands that. Chemo went fine, port was plugged but that was easily fixed. Hooked up to the bag, 1st shower this morning was akward but easily do-able. Radiation was also fine, more tattoos. I…

Fatigue
I thought I would start a new thread on this because I still have unpredictable fatigue almost 2 years post treatment and I am really desperate to solve this problem. I just had more blood tests. The good news is that I am no longer anemic and my white blood counts are fine. It boggles my mind that after all the…

hoooooly cow
Well, as a prelude to NYC's next weekend snowfall, we have 50 degrees today, soft, sweet, mild. So what better day than to venture out with my loyal and trusty leige at my side, aka my dog, for our first walk post treatment. Well, I'm just about speechless. This isn't fatigue, this is an entirely different animal. We…

two steps ahead, one step
back. Oh well. I still have a net gain of one. External burns are healing well but hurt more than I think that they should, based on how they look. Internal pain is bearable during the first morning bathroom visit, less so for subsequent ones. But I still feel mentally good.

Vitamins
I have never taken vitamins and supplements before, because they are unregulated and I don't trust products manufactured with no oversight at all. However, my PCP ran some tests and my body is significantly depleted of several essential vitamins and minerals. Could be from treatment, diarreah, or from the surgery I had for…

Hit by Semi
Sorry, this is the only place I can say I feel like I have been hit by a semi. If I say that to family or friends I will have 15 people at my door wanting to brush my teeth for me I havent even started radiation & chemo! Start next week. In the last two weeks however I have been sedated 5 times, port placement, biopsy,…

plateau?
Anyone experience a plateau after an initial improvment of pain and fatigue immediately post treatment? I'm still a lot better than I was during and right after treatment--quite a bit better--but the pain that I still have when going to the bathroom hasn't improved since last week and the level of fatigue is just off the…

Teeth after chemo..
Went to my dentist and was very surprised to find out that tooth decay is prevelant after chemo. I haven't had a cavity in YEARS and now have five! Two under crowns and two behind veneers...... Just saying....
