Anti Cancer Dietary information?
Many of you are very well-versed in dietary and naturopathic remedies to prevent or increase the body’s resistance to cancer. Could you recommend any good books or websites to start my education on this subject? Thanks for any information you can share!

Is 14 pound weight gain after hysterectomy normal. I just got home from the hospital and stepped on the scales - I have gained 14 pounds between going to the hospital yesterday and arriving home today. My stomach is bloated but my hands and feet aren’t swollen. the Only thing I have had to eat in 4 days is corn flakes this…

Hi Ladies, I've been holding this in but I just have to vent and I'd take a kind word if this all doesn't leave anyone speechless. Fact is, I don't feel good. Everyday is a challenge for me. I have to see the post operative doctor tomorrow. Husband told me to make a list of things. I filled 3 pages. if anyone has any…

Ultrasound results
I got my u/s results from my GP today. (I asked the hospital to send her a copy) Endometrium is only 8 mm, thankfully. I am so relieved. Bladder is normal so she said nothing further needs to be done regarding the 'full' feeling, "for now", whatever that means. Weirdly, they couldn't find my ovaries. Thank you so much for…

Editgrl (Chris) Update
I just spoke to Ron, Editgrl (Chris's) boyfriend. As some of you know, in August Chris came home from treatment in Germany with her cancer in check but not entirely eliminated, especially the lymph nodes in her neck. Her October PET scan showed new activity in her lymph nodes and lungs, resulting in severe pleural…

So Hard Not to Have A Broken Heart
In September I had a Pet Scan before I started my radiation treatment. There was no evidence of any disease and I was so relieved. As the six weeks of radiation progressed, I started feeling progressively worse, but convinced myself it was part of the side effects. I hurt where my gallbladder is and up into my shoulder. I…

Finally found an open-minded doctor who supports integrative therapies
I had a terrific 90-minute (!) consultation with a medical oncologist who started a dedicated survivorship practice within the Women's Cancer Care center at my leading research university/hospital. Do you think they were the ones who referred me? Of course not. It was my endocrinologist who tipped me off that this doctor…

NO ADDITIONAL TREATMENT NEEDED!
I finally received the pathology report from my hysterectomy on Jan. 11th. The past two weeks have felt like two years, LOL! Endometrioid type, grade one, confirmed. It was a tiny tumor. Less than 25% invasion of myometrium. All other tissue, including sentinel lymph nodes, negative for carcinoma! Stage 1a, no additional…

Did You Have Homologous or Heterologus MMMT?
My mother had a uterine polyp removed (2.5cm) and it came back on the pathology report yesterday as "dysplastic chondroid malignancy - heterologus carcinosarcoma (MMMT)". The cutterings from the endometrium were all normal - we are hoping this is a good sign. Gyn/onc has her scheduled for full hysterectory next week so we…

Diarrhea... help
I’m getting radiation treatments everyday and have suffered with diarrhea since the first treatment. It has gotten progressively worse to the point where I am barely eating. What do you wish someone had told you?
Hello, everyone. I've spent quite a bit of time this afternoon reading through past messages. You're a wonderfully supportive group and it looks like I'm going to need that. My gyn called today to tell me I have endometrial cancer (don't get angry at her for calling - I asked her to call if the biopsy results came in…

Post Hysterectomy Swelling
Anyone tell me their experience with the swollen tummy after their hysterectomy? I went in with skinny jeans and now I'm wearing stretchy yoga pants that are too (or were) too big. My stomach is a big bulging mess. The nurse told me 2 weeks but seeing I developed a blood clot, she said longer for me. Aren't I the lucky…

AARP E-mail
For those of you who are AARP members, be sure to see the e-mail AARP sent last night. The title of it is about 12 must-read books for 2018, but within it, there is an article about how "the FDA has approved the first gene-profiling test for this disease," which when I looked into it, turned out to be cancer. Foundation…

Toenail fungus? Or just nailbed changes from chemo
On another posting I noticed that SaltyCandy13 had to pay $1000 out of pocket for an antifungal prescription for her toenail fungus. A while back I went to a podiatrist because I thought I may have gotten a nail infection from pedicures. I expected to be told that I needed to take an oral antifungal medication which is…

Avastin - Updated Treatment
Recurring Uterine Cancer here. This has been going on for two years now. Never have been NED, have been told no cure. Did the chemo carbo/taxil, radiation (second time), hormone therapy and then started Doxil in Sept. of 17. Doxil after the third treatment burned my upper body, blisters, etc. Feet began to peel but not…

Need some advice - encouragement
I have been doing Avastin as a single agent maintenance drug since I was taken off the Carbo/Taxotere/Avastin combination when it tried to take me out in early July (nearly zero blood counts and neutropenic infections every infusion). At this time, we discussed doing Avastin until I either had a recurrence or side effects…

Getting ready for the big show
My CA-125s are now 19.2 They went from 121.6 to 43.7 to this new number. Woot! My fibroids might STILL be mucking things up a little, but just a little, and not enough to prevent the CA-125 from going under the preferred 35 normal range. There will probably be one more CA-125 scan on the 5th. It's a little greedy of me,…

Have You Read this article?
it's on a website titled: "Patient Modesty for Hysterectomy." It upset me, it sounds very degrading and humiliating. I am one of those women that MUST gave female staff. Female nurse, etc., with me. I do not let the men near me. With the exception of this doctor, I (really don't like it) but he has the expertise and has…

Count Down Has Come
Well, ladies, Friday, January 19th, my hysterectomy is scheduled. I got over my flu so my pre op is on Wednesday 1-17 and I think I should pass their approval. Don't know what time surgery is yet. I called my Priest. My mother and of course, husband will be there. I am afraid even though everyone tells me to chill out. If…

The case of electronic records and war of the hospitals
ok I’ve been awake since 3:00 am and this feel the need to vent. Yesterday I went to my gynechological oncologist at a new hospital for the first time. Since this was my first time at a new hospital I wasn’t given a CA 125 blood test. At the time I didn’t think much of it, but then after getting home I thought oh yes I…

A fascinating read
OK. This is my last post. Sorry for spamming the forum. I just came across this NY Times article by the author of "Emperor of All Maladies: A Biography of Cancer". I think I have heard others on this forum mentioning this book before. I now have to read the book. Learned so much about the work on cancer stem cells. I just…

A potential new treatment for Type II endometrial cancer
https://www.medicalnewstoday.com/articles/320254.php Paper in Nature (one of the top medical journals) https://www.nature.com/articles/s41565-017-0009-7 . Researchers then fueled the nanoparticles with two anti-cancer drugs: paclitaxel, a type of chemotherapy used to treat endometrial cancer, and nintedanib, or BIBF 1120,…

A way to block treatment-resistance in the stem cells of endometrioid tumors
Came across this paper: http://jem.rupress.org/content/214/9/2715 Basically, they prove that CD55 protein is necessary and sufficient for the self renewal and cisplatin resistance. Here is a summary of the paper, I find this version easier to consume: https://www.medicalnewstoday.com/articles/319148.php The researchers…

I’m new at this and have a question maybe someone could help me with.
I was diagnosed with uterine cancer just over a year ago. I had a radical hysterectomy and had radiation treatments. I have been back for check ups and everything appeared to be good. I have started spotting a small amount and I am wondering if this is something I should be concerned about or is this normal? Thank you…
