Post Treatment Meds
I had my first round of chemo (taxol/carbo) this past Wednesday. Reading through posts everyone speaks of meds they take after their treatments. The chemo nurse referred to my meds and I told her I wasn't given anything. Reading through the posts and some responses to some of my questions, the "make sure you take your…

Uterine MMMT: Does Your Oncologist Use CA125 test?
My oncologist NEVER mentioned CA125 test in a year of treatment. I did check my blood tests and only occasionally was CA125 tested; it was always less than 15. Are those of you with uterine carcinosarcoma being asked to get tested for this marker every three months? I thought it was not very reliable for this form of…

Does your Onc Use CA125 as MMMT Marker?
Am a bit baffled. For nearly a year, my onc has said nothing to me about CA125. I always checked my blood test results and it looked as if they didn't always test for it. When they did (4-5 times), it was always less than 15. Since finishing all treatment in late August, NOBODY at my center has kept an eye on my blood…

Supplements
A gal in my therapy group who's a stage 3 breast cancer patient sees an integrative doc, plus very much into complementary approaches such as herbs, vit C infusions, etc. Judy mentioned a good book to read per her research and her integrative doc recommendation, so I picked it up at my library. Definitive Guide to Cancer,…

Finished 1st round of Chemo
Had my first round of chemo yesterday. Long day...arrived at 830am and didn't get home until 430pm. The entire process, although lengthy, was uneventful. Started out with Benadry, Pepcid, Steroid, Anti-nausea medicine. Next was 3 hour infusion of Taxol followed by 1 hour infusion of Carboplatin. Like I said, all went well…

Dental care before starting treatments
This topic came up recently. Today I read an article on this topic in CureToday.com Winter 2011 http://curetoday.com/index.cfm/fuseaction/article.show/id/2/article_id/1795 Not quite sure how I came onto their mailing list but I think it was when I joined the discussion board and I did a survey. It is part of American…

Meditation
I have noticed a few posts lately mentioning meditation and I would like to share my experience and compare notes with others. Around the time of diagnosis I asked my yoga teacher for some info on yoga nidra which I had been previously taught in a workshop about sleep problems. I used a 10 minute cd daily and it helped…

Whine bottle emptied, it is what it is.
I met with my gyn-onc yesterday and had long discussion reviewing all possible scenarios for addressing disease progression. My situation is a little more unique in that I have had 2 primary cancers that could be involved, singly or a combo. The only way to know for sure would be to biopsy everything. Not really practical.…

UPSC 1A - Various treatments/odds?
I was diagnosed back in October 2011 after an unplanned laparoscopic hysterectomy. After staging surgery I was pronounced 1A and my gyn onc at the time said I needed no further treatment, but given the morcellation of the tumor during the hysterectomy he'd understand if I wanted to do 3 rounds of chemo. His attitude and…

Deception at Duke
I had heard about this a long time ago, but thought I would post the "60 Minutes" segment (link) here just in case anyone was not aware of this. This is a transcript. http://www.cbsnews.com/8301-18560_162-57376073/deception-at-duke/ Not only was Dr. Potti's research fraudulent, he claimed (falsely) to be a Rhodes scholar.…

LEG PAINS-TAXOL
Can someone elaborate on what type of leg pains these are? I am very concerned because I have suffered from leg cramps for years. When I say leg cramps I am not referring to your run of the mill, point your toe to your nose calf cramp. My cramps are almost undescribable. They start on the side of my foot or in various…

Resolving Insulin Resistance and Reducing Cancer Risk
Insulin resistance is a precursor to type II diabetes. It is a result of a diet high in sugars and carbohydrates. Essentially, the cells become resistant to the insulin that carries glucose into them. The cells are protecting themselves from too much glucose. In response to the elevated glucose in the blood - since the…

Whine time for me :(
Just got my PET/CT report from early this week (which, btw, my gyn-onc was not inclined to order as I was asymptomatic, but I insisted). Up until now all recurrences have been in lymph nodes only. Today's report shows a lesion in my liver and multiple nodules in lungs, some new enlarged lymph nodes, other nodes reduced in…

Anyone with endometrial (stromal) sarcoma (ESS)? Any grade?
Just curious since I understand this is another of our very rare uterine cancers and I unfortunately have it. I've tried joining the yahoo discussion on it and there doesn't seem to be someone in charge of membership there now since it's been a while since I applied. :( Anyway, just curious! Julia

FURTHER DEBATES: PROBIOTICS AND ENZYMES
As I've often said--and try to remind myself--I'd like to gain as much nutritive benefit as I can from wise dietary choices rather than supplements; life's complicated enough without gulping down thirty capsules a day. But although we've gained empowering information about diet from many sources, especially all the posts…

Chemo choices... opinions?
My gyn/onc told me there are 2 choices for my chemotherapy and he gave me his opinions for each therapy were. I wonder if there are similar opinions from your experiences?
