Helen, you had posted something about B-17. Can't remember where, but was very interested.
Have you been to this site? http://www.worldwithoutcancer.org.uk/aspreventative.html Where else would you recommend finding information? I did find a very long technical article by, believe it or not, someone named, Earnest T. Krebbs, who I thought was the name of someone from Dobbi Gillis, is that the name of the old tv…

Third treatment option
I met with my primary gyn-onc today re being more aggressive with chemo for my UPSC disease progression. He will not equate 'aggressive' with 'effective'. He is not on board with doing a carbo/taxol treatment (as recommended by second opinion gyn-onc)as he believes negative toxicities far out weigh potential benefits. He…

Rebuilding the myelin sheath to improve neuropathy issues.
Being that neuropathy seems to come in conjunction with chemo, and is reported to be a result of destruction of the Myelin sheath, being who I am, I had to do some investigating, and with googling, found that myelin sheath destruction is also the major component of ms. So, here's oodles of things on rebuilding the myelin…

Questions re Coumadin
I am trying to research ways to fight cancer nutritionally, for my Mom, and keep coming up with all sorts of wonderful ideas to try, however all seem to interact with Coumadin, which is what she is going on (probably next week). It's so frustrating. It seems like anything that is healthy or immune building reacts with it…

External radiation - 1 week down, 4 1/2 to go - so far, uneventful
After 3 rounds of carbo/taxol chemo for UPSC 1A, I started external radiation last week. Had to suffer some indignities for simulation/set up (my 'changing room' is a tech holding up a hand towel; got all sorts of markers inserted in the va-jay-jay with various techs in the room; had photos taken while half-naked lying on…

Olive and Coconut Oils
I generally use olive oil in cooking and baking, and reading more on benefits of coconut oil. Picked up my first container of coconut oil and anxious to start using in my daily routine. Do remember my nutritionist recommending not using olive oil when temps are above 350 or so. Anyone have input on how to use each of these…

Tofu
Should women who have had a cancer that contains both UPSC cells and endometriod adenocarcinoma avoid soy? That's my diagnosis, and for almost four years I have been diligent about cutting out foods like tofu. However, after going from a mostly vegetarian diet to eating chicken and occasional meat, I want to return to a…

Dr. John Boik's (of M.D. Anderson and Stanford) 20 top cancer fighting foods
His was the book that got me started in the usefulness of natural therapies and he is a huge proponent of synergy in using foods. Natural Compounds that help fight cancer In 2001 John Boik of the MD Anderson Cancer Center in Texas launched a book called ‘Natural Compounds in Cancer Therapy’ It should have been compulsory…

Keep those cancer clusters small. Foods that discourage angiogenesis.
Most people have cancer cells traveling around their bodies, but none of those cells can do major harm until they are able to establish tumors that have their own blood supply, which then allows them to grow to a size they CAN do harm. So, one of the most important things any of us can do is to try to thwart that…

Ginger, Beta Carotene, and Anti-Fungals Thanks, Jill, for starting to gather all the pertinent information on foods' anti-cancer properties. A huge job, but invaluable to us! Having read through the responses to her first posting on ginger, would like to add the following: I'm a firm believer in the efficacy of ginger.…

New Evidence That Green Tea Short-Circuits the Cancer Process--American Institute of Cancer Research
Just wanted to say a few quick words on how to brew green tea for the greatest effectiveness. 1. Don't bring the water to a complete boil, but rather just under. 2. Allow it to steep for 30 minutes as this allows the greatest amount of EGCG to be extracted. 3. If you can add about a half an organic lemon to allow the two…

Should I be concerned or am I borrowing trouble?
I have UPSC. I have recently had my one year CT scan. This is the first CT since being diagnosed and finishing treatment, which my oncologist reluctantly agreed to. My CA125 at the time of diagnosis was only 22.1, after surgery it went to 84 and then, during chemo, quickly came down to single digits, where it had remained.…

staging and mestastis question
Hi, my Mom was just recently diagnosed with stage 4 cancer (since they found tumors in both legs, pelvic area and lungs). They told her they were 90% it's a sarcoma or 10% chance of lymphoma. And we thought the primary was in her right leg since it's the largest and giving her so much pain. Well, turns out it's a carcinoma…

Are Your Ferritin Levels Too HIgh? Is IP-6 a Solution?
As if we don't have enough concerns, found out a few months ago a blood test showed that my ferritin levels were way too high. High iron is never a good condition for cancer patients for, as we know, cancer likes iron just as it does sugar. My levels had been normal before two blood transfusions that I needed at the very…

Spices & Herbs
I purchase many of my spices and herbs at local stores such as Whole Foods and Trader Joe's. Wondering if anyone has a few on-line sites they're using for these items? Surely purchasing in bulk is a bit more cost-effective. One site I've been using is iHerb.com, but lately turmeric has been out-of-stock, with no date of…

Any Stage IV success stories?
My Mom's biopsy results just came back and what the doctors had originally thought was a sarcoma came back as a carcinoma, originating in the uterus. My Dad didn't ask any more (which drives me nuts) but her appointment with the Gyn Oncologist is in a couple of weeks. Until then, we are just waiting and feeding her the…

Insurance issues/UPSC
Not me. Very good friend is a 5-year UPSC, Stage 2 survivor. She had both chemo and radiation. Now, at 5 years her insurance company says no more gyn oncologist, you can go back to regular gyn for exams and see the local general oncologist here on out. She has mixed feelings about this and will discuss it with her gyn next…
