today, almost 8 months since I saw my gyn oncologist for the first time, I re-read my surgery report, paying attention to all the details. I feel, boy, have I come a long way! I know my cancer was extensively metastatic at the time of DX, but re-reading this report, it almost sends chills down my spine. Something to the…

UPSC question...........risk factors?
I'm still trying to come to grips with my diagnosis of UPSC. Does anyone know if there is a genetic predisposition to this type of cancer? I can find very little information online. It also looks as if there may be a tendency for women with UPSC to develop breast cancer. I'm having a hard time figuring out how I developed…

Newbie here...Chemo Question
Hi Everyone… On July 2nd, after a biopsy of a large tumor (11x8x7.5 cm) in my uterus I was wrongly diagnosed with Leiomyosarcomas. Four days later I had surgery removing my uterus, ovaries and cervix. No lymph nodes were removed because my doctor did not think it was necessary at the time and I had the impression that it…

Financial setback after cancer treatment
I'm not sure if this is the place to get started on this topic, but you all have become my friends; and I'd rather have your support than the support of strangers. When I was diagnosed with UPSC in March 2008, I stopped working. I am a freelance writer/editor, which for me is very intense work that requires total…

BOOKS AND SUCH
Someone was asking about good books. Could you all (y'all), put your suggestions here so newcomers and those of us on the board for awhile could have suggestions? Thanks Book My first suggestion if you could only read one, would be Foods to Fight Cancer. It is an easy read and explains cancer, all areas of it from…

Is there such thing as too much non refined/ processed sugar? (sugar from fruits)
I am trying to gain some weight, at the same time I am trying to completely eliminate processed food, sugar, meat, and lactose from my diet. I know almost everything, if not everything, has natural sugar. My concern is the fact that sugar feeds cancer cell, and I also know it is mainly referring to processed sugar, but how…

Estrogen receptor
I talked to my onco last week and asked him the type of cancer cells I had in regard to estrogen reception. I am so concerned about eating soy, since almost everything has it. He said mine was mildly and that I can eat soy but not make it the center of my diet. What do your doctors say?

Biopsy
I've read that when you have a uterine biopsy you will bleed some afterwards and you need a pad. Is this true if you have gone through menopause? Thanks for the help.

CT Scans
USPC-hysterectomy next week. My mom had a CT scan which showed no apparent masses outside of the uterus, which was music to my ears. Her chest x=ray showed a shadow that her doctor thinks may be pneumonia. She had a cough and sore throat a week ago. They are now ordering a CT Scan of her chest to rule this out prior to…

new here UPSC stage 1 or 2 (no lymph node testing)
Hi ladies, I'm new here and been reading about this very scary diagnosis. I was diagnosed with UPSC after a hysterectomy in June. My gyn/onc didn't expect cancer..and my lymph nodes weren't checked. She did do a pelvic wash which was negative, and the tumor invaded less than half of the myometrium. But from what I've been…

Expiration Date
On Tuesday my oncologist told me I will die from my endometrial cancer and it won't be years but months. I'm still trying to process this. I was doing fairly well in February with one slow growing tumor and told I could live with this cancer as a chronic disease for some time. Now my status has changed so dramatically and…

Dairy products or calcium supplements?
I've spent days researching the pros and cons of calcium supplements (specifically, Solgar's calcium citrate with added D3) and calcium from dairy. Neither source seems appealing, particularly to cancer patients; but I nevertheless need to get close to 1500 mg. in my diet. My doctor does not want me to take supplements,…

Megace side effects
Hi, is anyone experiencing bothersome side-effects from Megace? On Monday I am having a biopsy. It will take 7/10 days for results. Have enlarged uterus, a thick lining, spotting after menopause. Don't know if he thinks I have cancer or just wants to rule it out. My sister died from uterine cancer. My son and husband are cancer survivors. Last year we had to tell him that his dad had…

For Upsofloating from Songflower Regarding Gemzar
am taking Gemzar and doing very well on it. I don't know if it's working yet. I read you didn't have premeds. Does that mean you didn't have steroids? What drives me crazy is the steroids and hamster nights and then the crash down. It's hard to do weekly. I'd love to try it without the dexamethasone. Diane

Too Little Treatment?
I worry I am not getting enough pro-active treatment? I had grade 1, stage 1b (39% invasive) uterine cancer removed via a davinci complete hysterectomy, 16 lymph nodes - negative, pelvic wash was neg as well. No add'l treatment beyond surgery was needed. I know, all pretty good news. However, I am so worried about a…

what my doctor said re: having one less chemo than recommended protocal
sisters: saw my doctor this morning and asked if my ca 125 were sufficiently low, say below 35, could i, if i wanted, stop at 5 chemos rather than have the entire 6. if it were she, she said she'd have the 6, but she didn't think it was absolutely necessary. she agreed that if there were some migrant cells, or as she said,…
