I’ve made a few informational posts recently “Anticancer info online” and “Vitamin D3 and cancer.” I wanted to post a new thread to articulate something I’ve learned which has helped me put some things in perspective. This may help some of you. (fyi, I have academic training and professional experience as an information…

lower back pain not cancer because goes away with mortrin!
hi sisters, probably alot of you already know that if you have some pain somewhere that disappears when you take motrin, advil, etc., it's not cancer. i was beginning to worry about my nagging lower back pain, and kinda remembered reading something about it not being cancer if it's responsive to ibuprofan, etc., but wasn't…

Well differentiated clear cell adenocarcinoma of endometrium Stage 1 for my Mom
Mom got her port-a-cath and had her first chemo today. She slept through most of the chemo being given as they loaded her up with anti-nausea drugs first plus 50 mg of Benadryl so she was zonked out for the most part, didn't even wake up when they did her blood pressure every 15 minutes. And now we wait. Her nurse gave me…

What tests are required in the first year after the cancer diagnosis?
Yesterday I saw my radiologist-oncologist. Some of you who read my posts already know that I had a big dilemma about radiation and finally I said no to radiation. My radiologist was very nice and not too “pushy” at all. He simply explained that right now it is easier to deal with microscopic (if any left I still have in…

Mom starts chemo tomorrow and I'm scared for her
Hi. It's been a few weeks since I last posted. My Mom has recovered really well from her hysterectomy. She's still tired easily and has to force herself to do some things but overall healed really well. She gets her port-a-cath in the morning and then goes immediately for her first round of chemo. I know she is scared but…

Vitamin D3 and cancer
Is anyone else taking Vit D3-cholecalciferol? There’re compelling data to support its effect against cancer; he (Garland) hypothesizes at any stage. The amount he recommends is having a serum blood level of 40-60ng/ml 25-hydroxy vitamin D [25(OH)D]. Vitamin D Prevents Cancer: Is It True? – This video is for the lay person…

Newly Diagnosed
I received a diagnosis of uterine cancer on Friday morning. Needless to say, I was horrified and saddened and my doctor was also quite surprised. I am a young, very active, 56 year old with a younger husband. I have gone through menopause already, but have been taking biodentical hormones and testosterone and have a…

JAZZY1-Jan
Hi Jan: I was diagnosed in November 2009, had total hyst six sessions of carbo/tax no radiation. Jan, I was so distraught and even my family that we did not have any questions for the doc. The only time I started to ask questions was when I joined the board here. My surgery was a breeze I had the button holes and was…

CA125
So, my sister completed her chemo treatments at the end of April and had a CT scan on May 26 - all clear - no sign of cancer! For the last two months her CA125 levels have been at 15 - this week it has shot up to 38.4! Her gyn/onc has ordered another CT Scan for next Tuesday.....how worried should we be? History: January…

kansasgal I do have a question
Hi Is it true that chemo gets worse the further along you go. If so what kind of worse are we talking about. I have heard some ladies on the board saying they needed a blood transfusion near the end of treatment but is there anything else I should be aware of. The first chemo I had a lot of joint pain and very little…

Ginger
I had my first step with eating fresh ginger. Every morning I eat regular oatmeal with sprinkles of cinnamon and thought I'd try some shaved ginger....not too bad! I didn't cook it with oats, just put a few shaves on top after cooking and mixed with cinnamon. Didn't taste much ginger but when I did wow is it potent....take…

I am scheduled for HIPEC
Hi everyone! I am scheduled for HIPEC (Heated intraperitoneal cancer) surgery. It is very gruesome I know. I will take chemo after the hipec. Sugar - no. Cinnamon-yes
As we continue to discuss diet, here's a tip that will help curb your sweet tooth. I use cinnamon in lots of things in place of sugar - cooked cereal, toast, yogurt, etc. It has a high ORAC (antioxidant) rating. Of course, fruit is also a wonderful sugar substitute. Stevia is a non-sugar sweetener. READ LABELS. Avoid the…

In August I will celebrate three years since I was diagnosed with stage 3C UPSC. I believe I'm alive because I had excellent doctors who performed surgery, chemo and radiation, I had loving prayers, ginger and green tea, yoga breaths and excercise. I have a village of remarkable friends and family who refuse to accept…

green tea, tumeric, ginger
Recently Claudia mentioned that we should at least drink green tea. I thought, wow, I can surely do that every day! I just wanted to invite everyone to mix up this nightly cocktail. I only wish I had started it 6 months ago! Another reminder. My onc. advised that large amounts of green tea can interfere with chemo…

NED ladies: take advantage of remission to see your DENTIST
We are celebrating so many new NED announcements, which is wonderful! I just wanted to suggest that all of you ladies who were just given at least 3 lovely months of no treatments: call your dentists for appointments. Many of us have to cancel routine 6-month teeth cleanings when we go into chemo. It's a good idea to…

anyone think they had uti/bladder infection and it wasn't???
i read in some long prior posts that some women have had symptoms of uti, but urine test turned out negative. no one seemed to know exactly why this happened: some possible reasons cited were effects of chemo or radiation, lack of estrogen, or scar tissue in the urethra. has anyone had more recent examples of uti sensation…

Radiation Treatment YES or NO
Hello everyone, I’m waiting for the radiation, and I’m still not sure if I should do it? I’m so against consciously harming my body (this is how I perceive this treatment) and I don’t really believe that radiation can do any good. It is so hard to make this decision. But I’m too scared not to do it. One day I say no,…
