I found a comparison of Intensity Modulated Radiation Therapy (IMRT) with Conventional Radiotherapy
There was recently some discussion on whether there were any benefits for using the more costly IMRT as opposed to the conventional radiation for external pelvic radiation. Since I started IMRT today, I did some research this afternoon and came across this article that seems to justify seeking IMRT as your external…

Tamoxifen
Help! Has anyone on here gotten Uterine Cancer from the drug Tamoxifen? I beat 2 different forms of Metastic Breast Cancer already, plus I am Her2/nue positive but allergic to the Herceptin (Anti-body) and I have HPV. They put me on Tamoxifen almost 4 years ago and during chemo they put me into full blown menopause with…

Pre-diagnosis confusion...seeking answers
Hello everyone. I have had a very hard time finding someone who understands what I am going through...maybe I can find someone here (I have tried cervical cancer forums and only got answers to the cervical portion). I'm 32 years old. I originally went in to doc presenting with pelvic pain that worsened with menstruation,…

Ankles and legs really swollen the last 2 days. Serious?
I only have a couple of days before my external radiation starts and I plan to drive down to see my sister and step-mother tomorrow for an overnight visit. My problem: after taking the grandkids to an Amusement Park yesterday, and being on my feet all day, my ankles and lower legs ballooned up quite a bit. And even after a…

Chemo
If all goes well, I will have chemo # 5 today! So close to being finished and hopefully for good! Also hoping to get CT results from the doc today. Hope everyone is feeling well. In my prayers always! Love and hugs, Deanna

Billed cost of treatments (chemo, CT-scans, PETs, radiation, Neulasta)??
I'm just curious what everyone's insurance is billed for various treatments. My insurance had been paying pretty good, aside from my crazy-high deductible, but I am shocked at what they are billed for each treatment. Each round of carbo/taxol was billed at close to $16,000. Each CT-scan was billed at approximately $11,000…

Geting back into routine
Well I don't know how many of you have gone back to work or stayed working while doing treatments and had a rough time of adjusting to it all. I just recently went back to work on Wednesday and worked 8 hours that day and the next. I was so bone weary tired on Friday I had to call in. You don't really know how it's going…

afraid of radiation
I have stage 4 uterine cancer- have had carbo/taxo for 6 rounds. Started radiation then freaked out because of the burning sensation. Stopped after 4 days. Now the burning is worse, so I think it's the tumor - not radiation. Should I go back on radiation. I'm afraid it will give me more problems. The radiation is just to…

Friday's CT-Scan 'official' results & pre-treatment mtg. today with radiation oncologist
I met with my radiation oncologist today for the first time since right after my surgery. You may remember that initially I thought we would be doing my radiation first after the surgery, but instead they wanted to do all of the chemo 1st, since at Stage 3, UPSC is just as likely or even more likely to recur at a distant…

Newly Diagnosed and Lost
So I am 28 years old. I have never had kids and they told me Wednesday that I have uterine cancer and need to have a hysterectomy. I'm so angry right now but at the same time relieved. I've been looking for chatrooms or someone to talk to and I wound up here. I feel like God is punishing me but at the same time I am…

I am new here, and am currently on day 17 of first Carbo/Taxol chemo round. I had radical hysterectomy Feb 25 and was found to have stage 3c endometrial carcinoma. I start internal HDR after next chemo. Will start External beam after 3rd round of chemo, then 3 rounds after. THought I would share my little experiment...and…

question for anyone re: my mom
Linda, Ro Deanna, anyone on this discussion board, i have a question. My mom had a complete abdominal hysterectomy march 12th 09, had UPSC stage 1a. She is doing quite well for her being 85, but now today (she lives next door) said she thought she may be worrying for nothing, but she had a slight itch so she looked to see…

CT scan results
Hello to all you wonderful people who have helped me through a rough time. I had endometrial cancer stage 2b grade2, had a radical hysterectomy in 2007 and 26 radiation treatments (external). All was going well until a CT scan caught some nodules in my lungs 1 year later. Mets in my lungs, so now it was time for chemo and…

the knickname kimosabe, (chemo-sobby)
I saw that "kimosabe = chemo-sobby" pun this morning on the Breast Cancer Discussion Board when I was searching for information on Taxatere, and just had to share it with you. That's what someone said they called those chemo-induced nights of depression and crying: chemo-sobby. Get it? I must be a twisted, but that really…

? on pelvic radiaton
Hello fellow cancer persons I have a question for any one who has had or is now going thru external beam pelvic radiaton. I just completed #9 out of 25 and was wandering about side effects. My doctor is very proactive on treating side effect before they start. I use non fragrant soap and lotion and squrit bottle to clean…

Gene therapy & P53, and Anti-HER-2/neu-targeted therapy
This piece of research is really hard to understand, but builds on some earlier research I did on epidermal growth factor type II receptor. This 'factor' can be tested for with fresh tissue samples taken during your hysterectomy, and KNOWING you had this factor would be VERY important information, as there are drugs that…

New 'March 2009' ENCOURAGING research on UPSC
I don't know what gets me in the 'research mode', but I just had to spend the time this morning to try and answer my questions about how 'curable' UPSC really is. I came across some new research that I found very encouraging and want to share (I am Stage 3-C, and this is for Stage 2 UPSC, but I still felt personally…

Had my '7-days-after-last-chemo' safety checkup today.
I just got back from having my blood drawn and meeting with my oncologist. I had my last chemo last Thursday, and have to appear every 7 days for a 'safety' monitoring, to make sure my already-low counts don't fall into the scary range as that last round of chemo kicks in. Everyone seemed pretty happy about today's blood…
