2 RNs said, "I didn't think you could have recurrent thyroid cancer after thyroid removal"
I know I need to wait until my body scan is done and I get the results, but I had TT in Aug. 2008. Thyroglobulin always 0.2 Now it is 14 with body scan scheduled Friday 2nd. I've heard 2 nurses (not at my drs office)say that they didn't think you could get thyroid cancer reoccurance after having TT, the ablation and body…

Anyone else had numerous lymph nodes removed in addition to their thyroid?
I was diagnosed with papillary thyroid cancer in June of 2009 and had surgery in July to remove my throid and 88 lymph nodes on both sides of my neck...22 of which had some type of carcinoma involved. I'm a 23 year old male, and being in pretty good shape, I thought that I would be able to conquer this thing without a…

Numbness & Heavy Feeling in Legs & Arms
Hi! After the Thyroidectomy in November 09 I was having issues with my calcium levels so I have been taking 6000 mg of Tums everyday plus 50,000 IU's of Vitamin D once a week(they had to take out a crap load of Parathyroids also since the cancer had spread) My Doc thought at that time that my body would start producing…

Need some positive Hurthle Cell Stories
Had my visit with the endo on Friday. Based on the fact that I am 49 years old, my tumor was vascular and non-encapsulated, I have lymph node mets (1 of 3 tested), it was a pretty bad appointment. I know that it isn't going to be easy to beat this. That Hurthle Cells are resistant to RI, but I need some positive survivors…

Endo visit wasn't' so positive
Both my husband I feel like we have been run over by a truck. With the cell type being hurthle cell Carcinoma, we really have to wait to see if the radioactive iodine will be taken up by the cells. If it doesn't, then we are up the creek without a very good paddle. Of course without the body scan we are at stage 3 cancer.…

Just got back from my doctors
The second biopsy of the right side showed no cancer in the thyroid, lymph nodes, etc. I did get copies of all biopsies to read. My doctor got a verbal when he told me the diagnosis. He said I had follicular cancer, but when I got the official report it says Follizular Oncocytic Carcinioma (Hurthle Cell Carcinoma). The…

I'm new here!
I'm new here and still trying to muddle through this whole thing. As an intro I should tell you that I am 49 years old and a Registered Nurse. If you had RAI for thyroid cancer, what was your TSH before RAI?
I'm scheduled to have RAI on Monday after a TT on 2-3-10. I've been off my medication since 2-2-10. My TSH was around 50 on Monday and yesterday it had dropped to 45. Is that unusual or anything to be concerned about?

Do I need the second surgery?
I was recently been diagnosed with papillary thyroid carcinoma after a 3.8 cm tumor and the right lobe of my thyroid was removed on December 16, 2009. The ultrasound and needle biopsy couldn't determine if the tumor was benign or malignant, so the doctors recommended surgery to have it removed. I got the cancer diagnosis…
