My second ZERO in eleven years surviving prostate cancer
I just got the second ZERO in eleven years surviving prostate cancer. This is joyful news but can I celebrate it? The PSA came out as 0.07 ng/ml and the Testosterone 28 ng/dl. These values are lower from a PSA=1.0 and T= 376, taken before HT in Nov 2010. A brief chronology of PSAs along eleven years was like this; Apr…

Had the Urinary Sphincter Installed and Loving it!
I am 50 yo and after almost two years of kegals and incontinence (3 to 4 full pads a day + occasional accidents), I finally had enough. I went to my urologist and asked about the sling. He indicated that the sling was for more of the slow leaker and would not be as effective for someone who leaked like I did. We then…

Six Months - Post CK Update
Well, just took my 3rd PSA test six months following my last CK treatment at UCSF on 9/22/10. Let me preface by saying that my PSA scores have been very disconcerting because I experienced weird spikes following my biopsy in Jan 2010 and after CK treatment in Sept 2010, but, although the readings are NOT as low as I'd like…

Still able to reproduce?
I had a vasectomy thirty years ago and DaVinci surgery six months ago. I am 58 and healthy--my gal and I are considering invitro fertilization because we heard that I still may be producing sperm. Given the time span, is this possible? If so, what does this involve and what does it cost?

Three month post davinci PSA
I had davinci procedure on Dec. 15. Post operation pathology report confirmed "extra prostratic extention". Six week follow-up PSA was .030. Three month follow-up PSA is .050. I am scheduled to see my urologist mid April. My feeling is not to be concerned, just keep checking PSA to see if there is any pattern &/or…

Taking Lupron & Flutamide, but Flutamide Failed moving on to Casodex
My Dad is 80 years young. 1.5 years ago he was diagnosed with advanced prostate cancer. It had already metastasized to his lower back area on the bone. His PSA was 550 upon his diagnosis. He was immediately put on the Lupron shot every 4 month and Flutamide administered by pill daily. The PSA went down to 1.6 and that…

Proton Therapy, Gleason 7, 28 Treatments
It has been recommended to me, that since one biopsy core has been evaluated at a Gleason 7, the other two being Gleason 6, (PSA 4.5) that a proton therapy course of treatment should be 28 treatments, rather than the normal 40 treatments, with the 28 treatments being accompanied by a higher proton radiation dose. Does this…
