Test analyzes chemotherapy effectiveness for ovarian cancer Pittsburgh Post-Gazette (PA) 08-26-13 Aug. 26--Despite the many chemotherapy drugs for ovarian cancer, none is fully effective, which means the cancer commonly recurs. That poses challenges for physicians, who must use knowledgeable guesswork to figure out a drug…

Allow me a little closure....Please
I’ve been here a mere three years. Some of you have been here longer than I. Some here are new to me. Some, who were here when I joined, are gone. I deeply miss my dear friend, CarolenK (aka LaudryQueen), who I met here years ago. I still cry when I think of her. She was an amazing, well-read woman. I’ve observed a lot of…

Peripheral neuropathy treatments
I came across this website http://www.peripheralneuropathytreatments.com while researching magnetic bracelets / anklets. They are selling this expensive ($759+) gadget called "The Rebuilder", that claims to cure 95%, reverse or at least reduce pain caused by neuropathy. They are also selling the Magnet Therapy Kit that…

Oncologist/gynecologist Nashville or south
I recently moved and am searching for new doctors. I have in the past gone to an Oncologist and a gynecologist. If I find a gynecology oncologist does this doctor do all of my checkups? Or do I need a separate gynecologist? Also does anyone have a recommendation for a doctor in the Nashville area or south to Pulaski.…

I learned a new word today!
Everything below is kinda embarrassing, so if you have no vagina - stop reading and get out of here. About a month ago I noticed a new curious symptom, like tiny farts or air bubbles coming out of vagina, mostly when I change positions or caugh. It did not bother me until I started researching this phenomena and concluded…

Frustrated, but hopeful
Hi Ladies, I really need some advice/guidance/suggestions... I was diagnosed w/micropapillary serous carcinoma 3C in 9/11, finished chemo just this past February 2013 (I was part of a clinical trial of Avastin, that's the reason it went on for so long) My CA 125 did get down to 9 but started creeping up since past…

New member and searching for answers
I'm new to this site, found it while researching for answers to better understand the tests my dr is ordering and what he is telling me. Basically I am at the point of having a ca125 test done. He says it's just a precaution and that he thinks that the 'complex' cyst I have is probably benign. He said if my numbers come…

A better result for me!
I am thrilled to be able to tell you that finally, after 7 consecutive rises in my CA125, I have had a drop!! Just a small one of 28 points but at least it is now heading in the right direction! This week I had my 6th cycle of Topotecan over three days and my 4th infusion of Avastin. I believe the addition of Avastin has…

Naturopath Update
For those of you who have seen my posts about my naturopath, the one who is a 22 year survivor of stage IV ovarian cancer, and the one who I credit with keeping me NED for 3 1/2 years, and counting, she will not be taking new patients after November, for an indefinite period of time. So, if you've been thinking…

No bowel obstruction, but miserable
Hello all, This is my first post. My mom was diagnosed in May 2011, and it's been a rough two years. She never achieved a full remission, and her longest stretch off of chemo was 6 months (she's in chemo currently...on her fourth drug, I believe). Good digestion has always been a struggle through the chemo. She would find…

You know you're growing old when...
- Your friends compliment you on your new alligator shoes and you’re barefoot. - Your doctor doesn’t give you x-rays anymore but just holds you up to the light. - A sexy guy catches your eye and your pacemaker opens the garage door nearest you. - You remember when the Dead Sea was only sick. - Your husband says, “Let’s go…

Question
Hi everyone. Hope all is well. I was just curious of how quickly symptoms escalated. The past 3 days I've been feeling worse and worse. Cramps, bloating, backache. I am about to get my period as well, does that make it worse? I typically never have SMS symptoms. I just feel so weak and exhausted that even the act of eating…
