hors d'oeuvres
Since I am going to whine a bit, I thought I would offer some cheese and crackers to go along with it. I read all of the amazing recoveries, marathons, mountain climbing and ocean swimming going on and I need to know if there are others lurking in the shadows that are still not the same as pr-surgery? It's been over a year…

Getting tired
Had my left kidney removed Nov 16th (Open surgery). It was a textbook procedure. Home in two days. Back at work in less than three weeks. pazopanib side effects?
Hi all, I'd like to hear about side effects of pazopanib. Not just the long list that comes with the drug, but what someone on the list has actually experienced. The oncologist tells you all the bad stuff and it's pretty scary. I have the opportunity to get into a study for Stage III RCC. I've had my right radical…

Sarcomatoid
Had my following up with oncologist yesterday. I do not qualify for any trials, because they were for clear cell cancers only. Mine is Sarcomatoid. He said this is an agressive cancer. We will keep a close eye on it. My first scan will be next month followed by another in 4 months then go to 6 months. There is a 50/50…

I need to vent
I need to vent. Please excuse me. I pay $1,100 a month for my health insurance (not mine and my wife’s but just mine) because, as you might think, I am considered a high risk. My wife and I were paying $1,000 a month for both of us while on Cobra. (She is now on Medicare.) But the insurance company (an HMO) was forced to…

Waiting...
I've been reading posts off and on since my surgery back in August and love seeing everyone's positive words and the encouraging situations as I watch many of you go in for your CT scans and come back with clear results. Today I had my CT scan. It was supposed to be last Monday but I got the flu. Since I had to reschedule…

So, those of us in the Lone Kidney Club need to pay particular attention to our blood pressure. In following up on some speculations I'd…

Hi All, Wife and I were having a stay-cation at a local motel on 12/4/11. We were just relaxing and enjoying the hotel amenities. We spent some time in the hot tub and I had the jets pounding my lower back. A few hours later I had blood in my urine. I freaked out a bit,but remembered that had happened once as a child when…

Tis the season...
As the Christmas spirit will be flowing over the holidays I would like to share an experience with you all, about drinking and driving. As you may know, some of us have been known to have had brushes with the authorities on our way home from the odd social session over the years, myself included. A couple of nights ago, I…

Had my first follow-up ct scan since my rcc kidney surgery last June. Haven't spoken to the dr yet, but I got the radiologist's report. No sign of any more rcc. Now have a "new normal" for my kidney, which we'll use as baseline from now on. Do have a kidney stone in left kidney, so that will be something to look forward…

Staying positive.
I'll tell you what. Here is how I do it. And I ALWAYS do it. For the last 40 years... When most people are asked ," How are you". They answer, "Not bad." To me, I think,( Gee if only they whey felt worse, they might be happier.) They have already set themselves up in a negative state. Why not say. " I am great, or fine, or…

MDX-1106
Seemed like a long wait from my initial consult Re: MDX-1106 and finally getting it done. But only 4 weeks. Lots of scans and a biopsy. Enough blood work to keep a vampire family of 4 happy. On Monday, the day began with 6 vials of blood followed by an hour infusion. Had to stay for a 12 hour day so they could cont. to…
