isn't cancer until they say it is
Jim has a place on his lip that has to looked at immediately. I can only say 1) I am not a doctor but 2) it looks suspiciously like the some of the things we have been warned to watch for. Asking for prayers. *And I don't know about anyone else but I can't adjust the font size today.

through to the other side
Hi everyone, I haven't posted in a while and wanted to thank you for your support and to report good news about my friend. Although I had no idea about his treatment or care, I learned via the grapevine that he's NED - and I saw him Friday at a work function! We spoke briefly, and then we spoke on the phone later that day.…

Today I Celebrate
It’s sobering how we can go through such an ordeal and come out the other side with war wounds we thought unimaginable prior to our battle allowing us to call ourselves survivors. The people on the staged TV series don’t have a clue in the true meaning of becoming a survivor. Two months prior to being told I had cancer I…

My computer or this site?
Am I the only one who has been fighting getting in here the last 3 days? I tend to blame my computer more often than not, but it's not having problems at any other sites....and....it may be my provider, too.....they've been known to have problems with optic-fiber lines and say nothing nor notify a soul of what's going on. p

Chemo option left up to us - 1 week to decide
Hi everyone. My dad was diagnosed with SCC Stage 4 T1N2bM0 back on June 3rd. He had surgery to remove what they thought was a benign cyst. Come to find out it was cancerous, the primary was in the tonsil and it had spread to 3 lymph nodes. His margins were clear and there was no extracapsular spread. We are definitely…

Radiation, DONE
31 radiation sessions later, my husband is done. He was very lucky that he only had to have one side of the neck radiated, so his side effects were very limited. He will go in for a scope in a month, then every 3 months for the next year. I cannot begin to express how much you all helped me ( us) throughout this past 6…

Debbie Downers and Negative Nellies...
Whew..I have encountered some very bitter, negative and downright depressing people lately. I've been easing back into working half days (with my handy dandy spit bag in hand) and of course have gotten some attention from people who did not know I'd had surgery, treatment or cancer in general. Here are a few of my…

Cardiologist Visit
No vent about the doc and the tests he has me scheduled for , in fact he was in the room with me less than 10 minutes , his PA spent more time with me than he did... My vent is, and maybe I'm being a little over sensative ; the PA was asking me about the chemo drugs and radiation treatments I had , she the asked what the…

Neck Dissection
Hello all, My husband’s 3 month pat scan came positive and both ENT and oncologist suggested Neck Dissection surgery. I have read about it here but not sure how it's worked and ENT was also talking about removing neck muscles and I am not sure if I am comfortable with that. Any suggestions and experience would be helpful.…

Delayed Onset Neuropathy?
I'm 9 weeks post Tx. two weeks ago I started getting nerve pain in my upper body from my head to my chest and arms. It's as if my skin is over sensitive, much the way my neck felt for weeks after my selective neck dissection. Touching my skin is painful but not in a deep tissue way. It's more like painful over-stimulation…

Been to hospital about tongue...
Well I've just had my appointment. I was seen by two oral surgeons. The first said he couldn't feel anything so went and got his consultant, who had a feel too. He said he COULD feel a lump but said he wasn't worried and told me he thought it was a tonsil. Apparently they increase and decrease in size now and again. He…

The date is coming and I am getting quite anxious
Hi again to all of you, I am feeling quite anxious as the date of my biopsy is July 2nd. I have to go for pre-op tomorrow and I am so scared they'll find something else. I read the horror stories of finding lung cancer while doing an x-ray for something else. For some reason, this scares the "poop" out of me. My ear pain…
