God answers prayers
It's been a while since I've started a thread. I wanted to say that sometimes miracles do happen and the devil loses. I have a niece who has breast cancer that metathesized to other areas and she was given just 2 years to live. She's a school teacher for special ed students. There is an experimental therapy having to do…

Lonsurf
First day on Lonsurf. 75 mg twice a day. 5 days on, 2 days off and then another 5 days on and then 2 weeks off. I slept all day after the first dose. I can't sleep for 2 weeks out of the month. I hope this gets better.

Probably not good
Hate to add the the recent reports of us board members not doing so great. Last weekend, I felt a familiar feeling, that of a slight obstruction in the colon. It was around the site of the last surgery I had. It was enough to interfere with my ability to eat a decent meal, probably many here familiar with that. Could have…

Thanks to all of you for the support
I was devastated when I had to go to the last line drug, especially after reading about it, and lost that spirit of I will do what it takes and my miracle will be found. But with the support and kind words, I have in my head that I can handle stivarga, and maybe will be a candidate for a met removal here or there until one…

Just an Update
Sorry I've been absent from the board. I'm dealing with some personal medical issues right now that I've been going through since April. Just not wanting to discuss it at this time, but I've been seeing one doctor and others since then. I've got another specialist I'm seeing in September. Please keep me in your prayers and…

Oral or Pump delivery system for Fluorouracil
Newbie to the group here, not new to cancer. I was diagnosed with Stage IIIB colon cancer in October 2018. 4 rounds of Oxaliptatin and Fluorouracil (oral) after surgery. In Jan 2021 the doctors suspected that it had metastasized in my left lung and was confirmed in July after I had the 2 spots excised. The larger was the…

Standard of Care
Standard of care. Do you ever wonder how many didn't make it simply because they were at a facility that simply follows a standard, and are not allowed to deviate to help their patients?

Bad things are happening
Papa will go to the hospital today. Since contrast ahent on Friday his digestion is not working. CT did only show bigger liver metastases. He can not eat, so parenteral nutrition. Since Sunday he is in pain, cannot eat which is usually his highlight. I am mad at the doctor. We mentioned it on Tuesday but she did not…

This is happening so fast!
Hello. My ex husband went to the ER with stomach issues just this past Monday. He was admitted, and has a complete obstruction of his colon which they basically said is a tumor. Bug surgery tomorrow to remove half the colon, hopefully no ostomy. Then waiting for pathology. There's some other palpable mass on his abdominal…

A daughter trying to do what's right
I'm new to this network and I'm trying to do what's right and I'm open to advice. My father died in February of this year and in July my mom (76 yrs) was diagnosed with colorectal cancer. She's grieving my dad and trying to navigate what the future looks like. As we wait for treatment to begin, she has lost interest in…

Terrible August
So, we did not gdt good news. The disease is progressing. It might be in the lung. They want to change Avastin to another one, otherwise Lonsurf. Keytruda is not an option. We are searching for 2nd opinions. Cure is not an option. CEA is 80, the highest ever. We are all crying. There is not much anymore to do...

Any Suggestions for a daughter wanting to help?
My mom (76 yrs. old) was recently diagnosed with colorectal cancer and has lost 15 pounds this month. She hasn't started treatment yet and she is down to 95 lbs. We've talked to the dietitian and it's not that we don't know what she needs to eat, it's her lack of desire to eat. She also lost my father this past spring, to…

Solitary lymph node metastasis : what treatment is available?
Hi, My latest PET scan lit up ONE lymph node in pelvic region (external iliac lymph node along right obturator chain). The lymph node in question is 1.2 cm x 1.6 cm (SUVmax=5.8 ). There were no other findings in the PET scan. It has been four years since my first rectal cancer diagnosis. The radiologist calls this a…

Clinical Trial KRAS G12C - Adagrasib (MRTX849) + TNO155 = Acne
Hello everyone, I have searched some terms and found no on point results, hence my new topic creation here. I have metastisised colon cancer with KRAS G12C mutation and have just started a drug trial with the new targeting drug, Adagrasib (Merati's MRTX849) combined with SHP2 inhibitor TNO155. I have 2 main side effects…

change for me
Update. I continue to ride the roller coaster of cancer. My last scan showed mild progression and latest blood work showed increase in cea 18.5 highest for me since the start of all this. Anyway I am off the Folfox and Avastin, not surprising since I've had 45 to 50 treatments of it. Next week I will see the Doctor and I…

Any suggestions about lung mets surgery
I got the news that I have to switch drugs. I asked about surgery, and he said doesn't make sense because I am metastatic. But doesn't it make sense to get them removed if possilble, and continue chemo so others don't grow?

I have to switch to stivarga, and I can't stop crying
I have to switch to stivarga and I feel like it means I will die soon. I can't stop crying. And what really sucks is that they accessed my port so I can't even leave until they take it out.

Updates, ctDNA and more vaccine speculation
I remember in the earlier days of the Internet on a (non cancer related) message board like this there was a guy whose username was "Updates" and he never posted anything personal or funny or anything like he was a newsbot. Just thinking about that makes me grin and probably no one else (except those people who remember…

More chemo?
A friend was diagnosed with Stage 4 colorectal cancer last January - had 15 inches of colon, gallbladder and 1/2 liver removed after almost a year of chemo. Drs always saw shadows on her lungs but now it has progessed. Is chemo necessary or are surgery and radiation enough?
