Meanwhile this week, I passed two kidney stones, and had a root canal. Busy, busY! Lol. Mom is still in the hospital but stable, unbelievable! She is ready to come…

Mom Stage IV.
I posted here before, and she may even read this post (she saw my other one. Eesh.) Anyway, I'll try to keep this short, and I know a lot of things vary and anything could happen, but I figured I'd be best to ask people who have experienced some of this. My mom was diagnosed about two and a half years ago with stage IV and…

Exercise and tumors
I have mets to lungs. It seems if I exercise couple of days before bloods taken my CEA slowly rises. Is there any chance the blood pumping around the body could cause the tumors to grow? I know they say exercise is good but I don't want to be 'feeding' tumors? I just don't know whether to go for it or do little. Sorry I…

From Tara Whitehill's Family
To: Tara’s Friends This is Tara’s sister, Julie. I am so sorry to tell you that Tara died yesterday, August 29. As many of you know, she walked her journey with strength, grace and humor. Qwik Update
It's been crazy how this round of chemo knocked the stuffing right out of me. I knew it would be rough but had no idea I would be so incapacitated and sufferingf from so many ailments I lost count. I thought getting started after all of this time that things would be not as difficult...especially later on in the cycle.…

Surgery again / updated
Damn... Husband had CT on monday and on first feedback from the radiologist all looked clear... liver, lung, bones... all fine... but there was a indifferent strukture somewhere (and I cannot remember if she said omentum or peritoneum or some other stuff inside) but she said it did not look suspect so I stopped thinking…

Been away for awhile..you know, life stuff! So sorry, Craig, to learn of your recurrance, and that the chemo is making you so sick. Keeping you in my thoughts! Robert still talks about your gift! Robert starts his 16th cycle tomorrow on his trial. To date, he has had 29% shrinkage in the tumors they are tracking, and no…

Talked with Surgeon today
Didn't like too much what he had to say, it seems I'm predisposed to the tumors in the intestine and with them only be able to go up a few inches they have no idea what else will be there. He suggested the genetic test (which my onc is already having done) and if come out genetically deposed should have all the intestines…

ct scan revealed 2.5cm met in liver. what to expect now?
My mom was diagnosed with stage 3C colon cancer in May 2013, had a surgery shortly after (full resection of the colon), and started chemo. She just completed her 6th chemo session and had the first CT scan. The scan revealed a growth of about 2.5cm in her liver, exactly in the area that bordered the colon wall. I just…

Delayed
Ugh... Well I accompainied my wife to her 8th treatment for FolFox this morning. We got settled in and things weren't moving along as "normal." The doc comes in and says they are going to delay the treatment for one week. Her platelets have kind of nose dived on us. Not too terribly low that bleeding will be a problem.…

Folfiri appears to be working
As some of you may remember, I started to have ascites build-up due to my peritoneal tumors. They took off 1.7L about 2 months ago and then 3L one month ago. Well, I went in yesterday after another month and there was too little fluid to try and remove. This very likely means the folfiri is controlling the peritoneal…

Do NED patients tend to leave the forum?
For those of you who have been here for a long time, I'm just wondering if people who get well tend to leave the forum? Also who would be the person who is not around anymore (either passed or got better and left), that left the greatest impression on you? Laz

Radiation after resection surgery anyone?
Although there is no pathological evidence my cancer has invaded my prominent lymph nodes (needle aspiration negative, but of course that is no guarantee since it couldn't sample all the tissue), my surgeon wants to do adjuvant radiation before resection since the bowel function is poor, if radiation follows surgery. Has…

Ketogenic Diet & Targeting Cancer's Metabolism
I know we had the sugar debate over and over, but the letter I just received re my latest blood results deserve a mention: Dear Mr. renw in theses results you see Thymidinkinase going down. This means that the cell dividing is going down. Also the LDH(LDH4+5) is going down, this means, that the damage in the mitochondrias…

Pet, CT, MRI ???
Wondering how these are typically used. If I'm remembering correctly, my husband's last pet scan was in March - before surgery and only showed the rectal tumor. Tumor was removed in April. His CEA has been good since surgery. Though it's been going up slightly, it's been under 1.0 since surgery (.5 in June, .6 in July and…

Experience with Dr. Emily Bergsland UCSF anyone?
Has anyone on this discussion board consulted with this oncologist at UCSF? She was recommended to me by Josef Lenz. She is traveling quite a bit and I may have trouble connecting with her, so I am also wondering if there are other oncologists at ucsf any of you would recommend. Still staging my rectal cancer, but it looks…

For Craig - Sundance - my update and experience with Irinotecan + Zaltrap
Hi Craig, I was the first one on Zaltrap in Minnesota, right after it was approved. I haven't been around CSN, but am very active everywhere else. I heard about your troubles and thought I'd pop in to share my experiences with you in case they may help. I've still not had any organ involvement, but I have been chasing…

All, It's been a while since I have reported on this forum so I thought I'd take a minute and give an update. My 4th surgery (liver resection) was on April 19th. Since the surgery my CEA has come in under one (<1). Treatment 10 of 12 of Folfiri/Erbitux will be this Thursday. Erbitux Achne and extreme fatigue are…

Slight anal bleeding.
The way most of us found out that we have colorectal cancer is that we had blood in our stool. So did I. However 2-3 weeks into the radiation and Xeloda it stopped and so did my pain. I finished radiation about a month ago and I am on my second Folfox. I still don't see blood in my stool, but when I wipe the tissue paper…

1 Year After Chemo
Well today 1 year ago I was disconnected from the 6 months of chemo. I got the port out a few weeks later I cannot believe a whole year has gone by. I did have a small scare in Jan with a poly (pre-c) found and removed, but this is part of the way it will go for me. Most important it was not cancer. I have learned that I…

12 Months post colon anastomsis for sigmoid colon cancer stage 3 b.
My husband was diagnosed with stage 3 b colon cancer in the sigmoid colon in august 2012. A 50 mm adenocarcinoma was found and 2 out of 35 lymph nodes were affected. A treatment regime of 6 months of folfox 6 (5fu and oxaliplatin) followed. That finished in April 2013. A ct was performed at the end of April and that showed…
