Off Topic--Social Security Disability
Calling on my friends here with a question. I couldn't find an answer in the Social Security website. My husband has been on SS Disability for about 12 years. Does anyone know when you reach the actual SS age(66 in our case), whether or not you remain on disability benefits or just transfer to regular SS, and also would…

First colonoscopy
At 42 years of age, one finds that there are fewer and fewer "Cherry" experiences, but last week was a good reminder that I still have a LOT to learn... My surgeon schedules me for my followup colonoscopy last wednesday, and gives me a script for "MoviPrep" to take the evening before the procedure the following morning.…

STupid CEA keeps rising
Darn it, was down to 2.1 CEA in Feb, and every three weeks it goes up 2 to 3 points. Now up to 3.2, so Onc is increasing Xeloda to 5 pills in morning 4 pills in evening. This is normal amount for Europeans because they don't eat a lot of bread. Since I don't eat bread either, he thinks this will work fine. If not, then…

Capsaisin and Cayenne
Does anyone know anything about capsaisin (an ingredient in cayenne) and neuropathy? I have read some articles on it and even it's use in cancer treatment. It seems the articles talk about the apoptosis of cancer cells in the treatment and something about confusing the sheaths in neuropathy. I am wondering if anyone has…

Having the blood test today
Well, knew that my blood testing was going to be for the immune system but when the nurse sat me down and said I'll be right back, it took her about 7 minutes to come back (heard her tap, tap, tap in the computer), knew either she was doing extra work while I'm still sitting in my chair or something. Never wanted to say…

Starting New Treatment...
Well, time to get back to the battle. My CEA continues to rise....high enough now that anything else has been ruled out except recurrance. Even though the scans show nothing.... that nasty crap is out there lurking...somewhere. Onc said no sense in letting it grow till we can see it so we might as well nip it in the bud…

I broke the pattern
I broke the pattern- my recent CEA pattern, that is, of up-down-up-down. Last time it was drawn (4 wks ago) it was up to 295. Following the pattern, it should have gone down this time but it didn't. It wasn't a huge jump, but a rise all the same- it went from 295 to 319 this time. I was bummed. I did my sauna detox last…

I have read many postings on here and this is my first communication to anyone. My husband was diagnosed with colon cancer in January of this year. Low iron
My last two blood counts has shown my WBC, HGB and HCT lower than the normal levels. My doctor is only talking about my HGB, though. He said if it was this low or lower next times, he would hang a bag of iron during my chemo. Has anyone had a bag of iron? How is it? Does it make you sick or hurt? My doctor won't answer…
