Hey everybody!
WOW! It seems like it's been forever since I've been with you guys. Thank you everyone who thought of me, prayed for me, called, messaged...just everyone! I'm still in quite a bit of pain, so I'm going to keep this short and to the point. I am so happy to be home. That seemed like the longest 10 days I ever spent! This…

Any suggestions on how to retrain sleep position?
I am getting a colostomy (left side below the belt line) on March 19. As silly as it sounds, one of my biggest worries at the moment is how the heck I am going to sleep...for years have been either a left side or stomach sleeper, and I figure neither of those positions will be advisable or possible after surgery. Anyone…

Here is my list!
Thank you for the reminder: I am not selling anything and certainly not profiting in any way. This is my own personalized plan from my naturalpath who I have worked closely with for a year to get my body rebuilt and a to build a strong immune system from being knocked down by my 2 surgeries, chemo and radiation. It seems…

My husband (Stage 4 recurring colorectal cancer with mets to liver and lung) has recently been prescribed Marinol to help encourage appetite as he is only in his second month of chemotherapy and has lost ten pounds. He has not taken it yet as he has read that it can cause some psychic disturbances and that it is difficult…

An interesting research item from cancerfacts.com
"New Biomarkers for Predicting the Spread of Colon Cancer": "Hangzhou, China-March 8, 2010-Two proteins present in the blood of people with colon cancer may accurately serve as markers to predict whether the disease will spread, say scientists in China........." Assuming they are correct, among the proteins studied,…

Pain treatment update
Friends, Here's an update on the pain I've been having from the sacral met, pelvic radiation, and who knows what else. Yesterday I had the third nerve block, this one lower on the spine, and it is reducing the pain. That is amazing! After weeks of debilitating pain, of spending most of my time in bed just trying not to…

Digestive Enzymes ??
Emily (2Bhealed) mentioned using digestive enzymes when eating meat or cooked foods and I'd like more info on that. When I eat chicken or fish, I'm eating about 2 ounces of meats only. I do tend to have gas after eating huge amounts of some veggies so try to remember to take Beano (an enzyme) for that but I'd like to know…

Burning sensation in lower stomach/colon area after chemo.
I’ve been trying to find an answer to this for months, but after discussing it with my Oncologist and Gastrotoligist I still don't know what is causing this. The day after I have my once a week chemotherapy I develop a burning pain in the lower stomach/colon area right above the groin. The pain intensifies if I’m sitting…

Newbie... just got diagnosed w stage 3 colon cancer.. lots of questions???
Hello, After ignoring stomach problems for a long time, I finally went to see a gastro doctor. At my first visit, I went through my list of symptoms. I was fortunate he just didn’t tell me to eat more fiber like previous doctors. He went ahead and did a colonoscopy (since I am 41 and they are routinely done at age 45). He…

Where's the Beef!!!
Hey Semi-colons, I noticed a few posts recently discussing “red meat” and if us semi-colons should avoid it. Now first let me warn you that this will all be my own personal opinion derived from what I think was valid research on my part. It is not intended to insinuate anything, it is simple what I have thought and done to…

Word of caution
Just a word of caution to some on here, particularly Pat (Jaylo969). This may have been discussed previously on here but it was news to me. In researching my decision to take Xeloda for rectal cancer I did find critical information regarding the use of Xeloda on some patients. In the Journal of Clinical Oncology, Vol.26,…

Farrah snubbed at Oscar's!!
Did anyone else notice that Farrah Fawcett was not acknowledged during the memorial portion of the Oscar's last night? I'm so angry about this! Everyone at my Oscar's party last night says it's because she was not part of the "big" screen cinema scene. This isn't true! She has been in big screen movies. Could it be they…

Farrah snubbed at Oscar's!!!
Did anyone else notice that Farrah Faucett was not acknowledged in the memorial at the Oscar's last night? I was so pissed! Everyone (at our Oscar party last night) said that it was because she wasn't part of the "cinema" scene, which is bullcrap! She has been in big screen movies, so this was not the reason. Did the…

Sometimes I just get tired of it ~UPDATE POSTED~
You know what? Some days I just get tired of the whole thing. Sometimes it hard to be positive when going through cancer. Most days I'm fine but today it's just too much. I know I'll be fine and I'll get out of today’s slump. But does anyone else just get tired of it sometimes? Life is NOT funny sometimes Brooks

Had another great in office check up this morning. CEA (I be smoker) is a steady 1.6 with all blood work better then normal for an old guy. Home on January 13th and had a great February--even though I continued to experience very irregular poops. February was a great month. I had…
