What happened to faith_trust's post about her oncology nurse?
Yesterday afternoon, faith_trust posted a lovely account of one of her oncology nurses receiving an award for patient care, talked from her heart about the care her oncology nurses gave her, and gave us information on the award foundation, encouraging us to nominate a nurse, if we felt so inclined. I didn't have time to…

Second mastectomy for me
I failed the first mammogram after my diagnosis and unilateral mastectomy. The lump in my remaining breast had innocent and not so innocent features so I had ultrasounds, compression views, stabbed to see if was fluid filled or not. Then had a biopsy. It came out okay but I was devastated anyway. I don't think I can keep…

implant to fail
I thought it would be just another routine appointment for the PS to take yet another look at my taking-forever-to-close wound. Not so. She removes a 'plug' which turns out to be exposed alloderm; leaving a hole where not only can I see the implant, but can actually touch it. This, I think, is not going to end well. Not…

Sitting here 'playing' and just got to thinking about the 'crazy' (to some anyway) jobs I've had over all the years. Right now I'm a dispatcher for a tow company (part time) but in the past I've also been a hairdresser, Army, 'carney', upholsterer, screen printer, CNA, back country guide, apartment complex manager, barn…

HELP! Triple Negative and HER2
I am hoping that one of you will be a supportive friend and guide for me. I am so scared as I was diagnosed 3 weeks ago with breast cancer. Good news is I already had a double mastectomy, clear nodes stage 1 and am feeling sore but rather well. I have been to one consult with an oncologist last night. I thought I was an…

Trying to keep going
Hi ladies! Wish I had better news to write y'all. I am out of the hospital which is one good thing, but am still in so much pain. That was without a doubt the toughest surgery I have ever had. I've never been in so much pain in my life. Things are getting easier day by day though. I just have to remember to be patient. The…

chemo before lumpectomy
Hello I am new here and I was diagnosed with Breast cancer on Sept 20. I am now in the deciding what treatment to do phase. My surgeon and the rest of the breast cancer board agree that I am an excellent candidate for chemotherapy before lumpectomy in order to try and shrink the tumor so the cosmetic appearance of the…

Finally got the comparrisons on the Pet and MRI
This has been a long month since stopping chemo. Yellowstone was wonderful, the fires started the day we were there and it was so clear. 2 days later we drove over the back side of the Tetons to a wall of smoke in Jackson Hole. The wind shifted and by noon it was clear. There was a lake about 8 miles from the cabin and we…

Breast Achey
I had a lumpectomy in January, finished chemo/radation in July and now on Tamoxifen. My question is this... has anyone experienced any pain or aching in their post surgery/treatment breast. It isn't horrible, just enough to annoy me and remind me of the cancer. I am going to see my oncologist in 2 weeks for a Tamoxifen…

OT - Prairie fire - enforced evacuation.
We're fine - only grass burned. We were on an enforced evacuation this afternoon for a prairie fire for a while but it's contained now. Called Hubby to get home in case and got dogs out (and papers) and sat to wait in case I had to run. Neighbor (who likes to freak out over nothing) gave me her 6 ferrets to 'watch' - they…

I am SOOOOOOOO Done with MRIs
I took 1.5 of the Ativan pills and it seemed to work okay. I made it through all 3 of them without sreaming "Get me out of here". I had to tell the tech that I was freezing to death and she gave me a blanket. In total all of the tests took about an hour and a half. I was still pretty groggy when we got home and took a 2…

OT - Recipe for 'Dilly Bread'?
Does anyone have the recipe for 'Dilly Bread' that was on a yeast package years ago? (Or a similar version?) It's getting colder now and Hubby told me he wanted Cream of Leek soup on Sunday (no prob - it's easy) BUT he also wants some Dilly Bread too. It's been years since I made Dilly and I can't find the recipe for it in…

Going tomorrow for my second round of chemo and for some strange reason I am nervous even though I know what to expect. Have any of you had the BRAC 1 or BRAC 2 test done, or, your daughters?
I've read where some insurance companies will pay for it and some say theirs didn't, so, they paid for it out of their own pocket. Also, if you do test positive, does or will that effect any future treatment for you or for your daughters? Could it be used against someone to test positive? Like trying to get life insurance…
