Masectomy vs Lumpectomy
I was diagnosis 10 years ago with breast cancer in my left breast. I had a lumpectomy, chemo and radiation. Now here I am 10 years later with a tumor in the right breast. I am so confused about what to do. Do I want another lumpectomy, radiation maybe chemo. Or do I just want to have a bilateral masectomy and be done with…

Pink Fire Trucks
Hi, some of you asked about my picture with the pink fire truck. This is a group of fire fighters that tour the nation in them. You can find out more about why they do this and where they will be at pinkfiretrucks.org If they come to a town near you, go see them. You can sign the trucks, but t-shirts, etc. It's pretty…

My visit with my onc, markers, etc
Saw my oncologist this am. He is pleased with how I am doing on the faslodex. Haven't gotten my Ca 27.29 back yet, but my CEA remains elevated but unchanged. No more symptoms, so I am not having any scans at this time. I will see him back in 3 months. For other ER+ with mets, I did ask about fulvestrant (faslodex) plus an…

Does your doctor have a chaperone present when examining you?
How about a courtesy knock before entering the exam room? Almost universally, all medical staff will give a short courtesy knock prior to entering the exam room. Usually before the doctor actually examines me he will get a nurse to chaperone. The last 3 or 4 times I've seen the new NP instead of the doctor. The NP is…

Anyone Else Reading This Waiting for Core Biopsy Results?
I had two Core Biopsy's done last Thurs. Now waiting for the results. I am drawn to this site trying to find out as much information as possible. Ct SCans
I have recently been through the ringer with infections, appendectomies etc.. as most of you know. My question is the CT scans I have been having.. if there were tumor growth in other areas of my abdomen, uterus etc.. would they show up on those CT scans? I am kind of ignorant to that sort of thing. Just curious since I…

Need Good Drugs, 3 MRIs on Wed.
I am scheduled to have 3 MRIs on Wed. Two of my back and one of my brain. I am very claustrophobic. The doctor gave me Ativan but the last time I had an MRI and I took Ativan it did not seem to do anything. Maybe I will take 2 or 3. I asked them if they couldn't just knock my out. They said that they couldn't do that. I…

Low-dose aspirin -- anyone else's oncologist recommend it?
I had my regular 3-month checkup with my oncologist last week, and everything looks good (yay!). He brought up some recent research on patients taking low-dose/baby (81 mg.) aspirin for cardiac issues, which found that it also seemed to reduce their risk for breast and colon cancers. He feels the research is strong enough…

Is it ok to have 5 or 6 weeks in between diagnosis and surgery ?
Hi, I'm new here and on 9/13/12 my radiologist gave me the diagnosis of Invasive Ductal Carcinoma , Estrogen positive and Her2neu 3+. They won't be sure what stage until the surgery but think that it is stage 1 or 2. Of course, the radiologist was pretty sure it was just a benign lump when doing the biopsy. I'm concerned…

Fatigue and dizzy
I am 9 months out of chemo, finished Dec. 1, 2011. All of a sudden I have become very fatigued and dizzy, it is to the point that all I want to do is cry because I feel so bad. I am going to see my PA tomorrow, see if we can get some answers. Wondering if it could be anemia

OT - Princess and Frog
I ran across this gem and thought to share it: The real story of the frog and the princess. Once upon a time, a beautiful, independent, self assured princess happened upon a frog in a pond. The frog said to the princess, "I was once a happy prince until an evil witch put a spell on me. One kiss from you and I will turn…

Hi everyone, Thank you all for worrying about me. I haven't read any of the posts yet, so I'm not sure what is out there...in the beginning of my absence here my parents were visiting and I wasn't feeling great. So all my energy went to that. After my parents went home I kinda fell apart physically. I had been having…

Flu shot anyone?
I have had a rough year with shingles, bacterial intestinal infection and infected cat bite. Just went and got my flu shot, because, I hate to admit this (lol), I think I might be immunocompromised. Katherine went and got hers to at Walgreens. Danny is next. My infectious disease physician friend says that he thinks the…
