Explanation of NED or Dancing with NED
I know that the newbies don't know what NED or Dancing with NED means. NED means no evidence of disease. I don't know if the doctors really say that now, but, it means that your mammo, ultrasound, PET, CT scan or any other test you have comes back clean or clear. They found no cancer! So, NED is very good! I hope this…

How do I know if Tamoxifen safe for me?
I was diagnosed in Sept of 2010 with Stage 3 bc. 2 tumors in right breast with 4 out of 18 lymph nodes involved. After undergoing a lumpectomy, 8 rounds of chemo (every two weeks) and 30 rounds of radiation, my dr has prescribed Tamoxifen for the next 5 yrs with an AI for 5 yrs after that. After researching the drug, I am…

What, If Anything, Have You Learned With Your Diagnosis Of Breast Cancer?
This journey with bc is difficult and long. We all started with the initial diagnosis of bc, had surgery's, taken chemo and rads and some are on hormone therapy. Be it good or bad, what have you learned? About yourself, your friends, your family, your job, or just plain about life now? Thanks!

Adolescents and moms with BC
Our youngest, a DD, is 11. Our two oldest are 23 and 20, all are still home and know I have BC (was diagnosed this January). So far the boys have asked a few questions, one frequently will just clean the house if he is off (I think his way of coping since he was never asked on those occasions) and the other and his GF made…

Other teachers here?
I teach Kindergarten and was diagnosed this past January. So far I have only had a lumpectomy and re-excision. The only thing I told my children before I was out was that I was having a little operation and when I would be back at school. I found out on Friday afternoon I will be receiving chemo so needless to say, these…

I'm baacckk -
from Retreat! It was probably the best and most intense (for me anyway) that I've been to. For me, the negative 'highlight' was locking myself out of my room this morning at about 2:30 - 3:00 (we have to give up watches for the duration so I'm not sure the time). Tomorrow - I'll tell more - going to sleep. Susan

Trying to get up to speed - Need Info
Hi folks, I've been looking all over the last few days and this seems to be the best breast board (BBB) around. A little history. I was diagnosed with kidney cancer ('03) and thyroid cancer ('04). Been NED in both cases since then. The first part of March, my husband and I were both sick with some sort of flu-like deal. As…

Ringing in my ears :(
Ok warriors, I'm going to go absolutely crazy!! I went to my Onc. last week for blood work and the usual....I asked her if ringing in my ears (it's more like a vibration and I'm not sure if it's my ears or the back of my head) is a side effect of Xeloda (the chemo I'm on). She looked it up and it's not a known side effect…

Zoladex
Hi, Wondering if anyone has had Zoladex injections to go into menopause to help reproduction come back when finished with chemo? We decided not to freeze embryos and have a baby naturally after I am done with treatments. Too expensive and another big process. If anyone has, can you tell me the results, side effects, etc..…

Then last night, 4 1/2 months after my last chemo, I hiccuped for over 1/2 hour. Has anyone else had this problem? Could it be the Femara? I…

I don't know how many of you remember me posting about my cousin also having BC. I have been keeping in touch with her and she has finished her treatments. She had a lumpectomy, 4 chemo treatments and 33 rads. She did really well with all of it and had very little side effects. She never joined our group but she did join a…

Just dx with Bell's Palsy this afternoon!
I woke up today and my life once again took a turn for the worse. At first I thought I had a mini stroke but after speaking with the oncall dr he told me it sounded like Bell's Palsy and I should go to a clinic to see a PA. My right eye won't blink or close, my mouth is droopy and I can't smile. My ear hurts as well as a…

Demographics & Cancer?
I know there are many contributing factors causing cancers, but it's just so hard to ignore how many people in our subdivision growing up have been diagnosed. The subdivision was built back in the late 50's not far from an air force base. This was of course, your typical neighborhood back in the 60's & 70's where all of us…

What a great group
I've been away visiting the grandchildren and returned to see the great pictures of yet more CNS gatherings. It just does my little heart good to know that this is such a truly warm and caring group of individuals - who care so much for each other. Just had to say that. Love, Suzanne

Hope you find this encouraging.
I went to the Komen Race in Ft. Worth this morning and they had a 50-year survivor there.
