How long after treatments were you able to go without a wig or scarf
There is a discussion going about Patti finally getting to go to work without her scarf but just to get a feel, how long after treatments were the majority of you able to ditch the wig or scarf? I finished chemo on 10/15 and I'm not there yet. It's been almost 5 months and I'm just curious. I guess part of it has to do…

No scarf on my head to work yesterday!!
Hi all, Well, I finally decided to come to work "sans scarf!" I was a little apprehensive but everyone was very kind and excited for me! I should say that I work for a congregation of nuns so lots of them have had cancer and are survivors, too. Also, the fact that I work with mostly women, made the transition from scarf to…

Started rads today
Everyone said this is so easy, but I don't really think so and I did already have chemo and surgery. Laying on that table with your arms stretched above your head with your breasts hanging out and not being able to move is not my idea of a good time !!! I'm whining I know...sorry Judy

Last year I was having surgery on our birthday. I will finish Herceptin this summer. Jake helped his MeMe yesterday set the table for a special…

I Laughed So Much That My Ribs Hurt
I believe in laughter and I believe that laughter heals. I laughed so much that my sides hurt and I had to stop reading many times before I could resume again. I hope that this has same effect on you that it did with me. The story begins as follows: After I retired, my wife insisted that I accompany her on her trips.…

Who or What is NED?
At first I thought NED was a man but NED has been referred to more than once by more than one person on this site. So....who or what is NED? I can't figure it out and I am too curious to let it go. Janelle - also known as the "Why Girl" because I ask many questions.

Emla Cream
So port insertion went well, but it is still sore. Has anyone used the Emla cream, and if so, will that really help when I start chemo on Wednesday? The thought of anyone going near my port with a needle right now does not make me happy! :-)

Sedation for diagnosis procedures
I have been diagnosied with breast cancer and had a lumpectomy and will have 6 weeks rad. My question is- Why don't they tell us about the pain related to the diagnostic procedures? The "needle" biopsy was not a needle- It was a drill bit into the breast. It was no needele, it was the diameter of a straw. Pure torture.…

Am I The Oldest One On This Site?
I am curious. Is there anyone older than me on this site? I just turned 69 years old in January. I might be 69 years old in body but my mind is very young. And...I am still working full time as an Administrative Assistant. I am half Italian and half Polish. I do believe that I get my stamina from the Polish side of the…

I had a positve for cancer mamo in Oct 2009, I was then sent for an ultra sound which I was told could be just an infection of the lymphnodes, my primary care immediately became very concerned and refered me for a pet scan which lit up like a beacon on my left breast she then sent me directly to a surgeon who i believed…

Bone biopsy
I just completed a PET/CT scan and bone scan, each radiologist report said the cancer had spread to my rib bones. Then I went to the oncologist on Friday and he said maybe the scans are not accurate - and told me to schedule a bone biopsy. I'm sort of hopeful but mostly confused. I know I just need to wait for the biopsy…

Facial lymphedema
I am very fatigued since radiation finished over a month ago. I was also wondering if anyone out there has had any swelling of their face post radiation, it started almost a month after rads started. I have been to my onc, primary, allergist, no one has a clue what it is. I finally got my onc to refer me to the lymphedema…

Need to get out of "my head"
Anyone else experience this? I'm about 4 days out of my 2nd chemo, feeling lousy all over, and all I can think about is my current condition. I try to read, watch funny movies, take a walk, but I can't get out from under. And the lousy dreams...tidal waves, crashing chandeliers, dying animals. I know I don't NEED to…

Why so high?
Why is the treatment so high? I am on Femara now and my copay went up to $60 a month from $35. There should be generics to help us. Cancer is expensive!!! We go thru so much and then to have to make tough decisions.
