Skin cancer is all gone
Went to the dermatologist today. He had planned to do an excision on the area where he did the the skin biopsy and found a small cancer. The spot that is left is so small that we went with burning it off and doing a follow up in a month to see that it is gone. We could have done a punch and stitches, used a topical cream,…

Off to see the Doc
My first visit tomorrow! Kinda scared,,, but at least I'll know what the plan is. I hate not knowing! And at least 40 or 50 questions. I'll post whatever happens tomorrow. So everyone say a little prayer for me tonight that it's not as bad as I think! There is a really nice lady from the cancer clinic here that called and…

anyone have stage 2 w/positive lymph node w/"extrusion"?
I can't seem to find out what it means for possible recurrance, to have a lymph node with extrusion, where cells are on the outside of the node. I had 2 involved nodes, one with this extrusion issue. Just had a bilateral with tissue expanders (that's another story altogether!) but of course am wondering about the future.…

Hmmmmm...I wonder if we could get our medical bills paid this way too!
A man suffered a serious heart attack and had open heart bypass surgery. He awakened from the surgery to find himself in the care of nuns at the Cabrini Catholic Hospital. As he was recovering, a nun asked him questions regarding how he was going to pay for his treatment. She asked if he had health insurance. He replied,…

Bilateral mastectomy tomorrow -- now I'm getting scared.
I know this is the right decision for me. I will be having bilateral mastectomy with immediate reconstruction using free TRAM flap procedure. But the last couple of days I have been very nervous, and today I feel like things are racing inside my body. I know it will end up okay, but I wish this day would go by quickly.

Any Teachers here?
I am Stage IV and am starting my chemo on Friday. The last time I went through this, I taught little kids who didn't know a wig from a pig. Now, I am teaching high school students. I don't know what to tell them about the wig, my time off from school, etc. My administration is being WONDERFUL and supportive, but they're…

What does this mean?
In July I had lumpectomy and 32 lymph nodes removed. The dx is stage IV breast cancer with mets to bone. I and my family are keenly aware of what this means. We don't talk about it much. The oncologist I'm seeing decided to use Femara and Zometa, and save the "big guns" (chemo & rads) for later. So I healed quickly from…

Hight and Tight, Please...
A guy stuck his head into a barber shop and asked, "How long before I can get a haircut?" The barber looked around the shop full of customers and said, "About two hours." The guy left. A few days later the same guy stuck his head in the door and asked, "How long before I can get a haircut?" The barber looked around at the…

The last fight was my fault. My wife asked, "What's on the TV?" I said," Dust!" What is the difference between a dog and a fox? About 5 drinks. Do you know the punishment for bigamy? Two mothers-in-law. The most effective way to remember your wife's birthday is to forget it once. First guy (proudly): "My wife's an angel!"…

Anyone heard of the Sancuso patch for side effects of chemo?
I just happened upon it while searching the web. I wonder if it works as well as their ad seems to say. Has anyone tried it? Too late for me, but maybe it could help someone else out there. http://www.sancuso.com/pat/sancuso/comfort.html

PART TWO: Thinking Like a Rose
Whether you believe in a higher power or not, there is substance to the "message" that is sent in the parable: The Gardner and the Rose THINKING LIKE A ROSE Every good parable has a message, and this one is no exception. There are actually three valuable lessons to be learned. First, the rose had to learn to trust the…

The Gardner and the Rose-a Parable
Dear Friends, This story was shared with me today and I thought of all of you. I think, in some small way, we could all apply this story to our own lives. I don't know what we are expecteed to "gain" by being "amongst the chosen" to have cancer, but I know that I have personally learned far more in the past four years…

Am now taking Aromisen
Hi everyone, Sorry I haven't been on for awhile. If you will remember I am the one that had a mastectomy, then radiation, and two weeks later started bleeding under the skin. Then went from that to an infection, was put on Arimidex for 36 days but could not stand the pain so went off it. Now the infection is cleared up, I…

Hair Loss
I was just wondering, once the hair starts falling out, how long does it take for it to be all gone? Yesterday my hair was coming out one or 2 strands at a time but today it's more like 10 every time I comb, brush or just rake my fingers through it. My hair is baby fine and has never been thick. Just wondered what…

DCIS
Hi, my name is Robin and I'm new here. I had my mastectomy a few months ago and have been looking for someplace to get info and advise. I had DCIS left breast with mastectomy being my only choice. No chemo or rads and I'm ER-, PR- so no hormone therapy. I never found a support group that fit for me and maybe that was my…

Boy or Girl?
Male or Female? You might not have known this, but a lot of non-living objects are actually either male or female. Here are some examples: FREEZER BAGS They are male, because they hold everything in, but you can see right through them. PHOTOCOPIERS These are female, because once turned off; it takes a while to warm them up…

Too much snow
Too much snow here. I can't open my doors to get outside so I'll have to go out a window in order to shovel off the porches so I can come back in through the door. Looks like the majority of the 2+ feet of snow that we got this weekend fell during the night. Heck only knows when I will be plowed out. My snowplow guy works…

Joint pain
I was diagnosed with breast cancer in 2004. I have taken Arimidex for very close to 5 years just recently stopped taking the drug. I have been off the drug about 5 months. I have as much joint pain as I did the first two years I was taking it. Anyone else have that experience?? My knees and feet and hips hurt so bad…

Getting tired of the pain!
I had a mastectomy (for DCIS)just over 2 weeks ago and 2 nodes removed...all went well and the pathology report is good. But I am still so incredibly sore! Last week when I saw my surgeon for what I hoped would be arm exercises and a dismissal, instead he took out about 20cc of fluid and told me to come back in a week. I…

ALH with "no surprises" on MRI
I was diagnosed with atypical lobular hyperplasia in Dec. Had an MRI which showed "no surprises"..so I guess no new areas of concern. I am scheduled for an excisional biopsy of the 2 areas of microcalcifications on January 23rd. My question is if my MRI came back negative is there still a decent chance they can find…
