Depends
So I'm getting tired of wearing depends at night because of liquid or mucus or whatever comes out of my butt. I think it's been getting better but it's so slow it's hard to tell. I also know it depends on person to person but can people tell me when they thought their stomach got back to normal with somewhat normal poos. I…

Slight pain present
Hey guys, So I am five weeks out from radiation and still feel a slight discomfort minimal pain about level 1.5 at the place the tumor was and where the radiation was focused. Is this because the radiation is still active? Also does anyone have any details on how it is still active since there is no radiation source…

Today marks 5 years since I completed treatment. I don't have my follow up appointment until 12/2, but will be celebrating the anniversary anyway. 4 weeks past treatment
Hi there, I was diagnosed with anal cancer on October 13th. I had a small protrusion which I thought could be a external hemorrhoid and went to my GI who did a MRI followed by a colonoscopy with a biopsy. I went to him 6 months earlier and nothing was there so it seemed to really come up quickly. Not sure how it would have…

Neuropathy after treatments
I was diagnosed with anal cancer in June 2017. There were squamous cells and small cell carcenoma in the same area, so I was treated with radiation for the squamous cells and chemo for both. That means I received some increased doses of cisplatin. I completed radiation in August and chemo in October. The treatments went…

Radiation Burns and Raw Skin
First, thank you to everyone who has posted questions and answers on this discussion board. I don't know anyone else who has anal cancer -- didn't even know it was a "thing," until I was diagnosed last February (2017). My 6 weeks of radiation/2 weeks of chemo started at the end of February and ended the first of April. I…

Is a colostomy the only option after recurrence?
I'm five years out from treatment, but still have issues. "Tissue: at AIN 3 are removed with greater frequency. A surgeon mentioned, of course, that a colostomy is the next step. I've been reading about innumotherapy, plastic/rubbber spinchters, and other developments. If if returns, is there still hope?

The dreaded “nadir”
First post-I am a (reasonably) healthy 47 year old male, who was diagnosed with squamous cell anal cancer in December. I started treatment Dec. 27, flourfouracil and mitomycin with 7 weeks radiation. 2 1/2 weeks in, other than fatigue right after the first round of chemo, and increasing irritation of the “tuchus“ (I prefer…

PET scan at end of treatment?
I am curious as to what scans, etc. everyone received at the end of their treatment. My insurance is denying my oncologist's request for a PET Scan. (Twice now.) My treatment ended Nov. 2nd, so I am two months out. Insurance is now saying I need a CT scan and then I can do a PET scan. I had a CT scan the last week of…

Today marks seven years . . .
Hi! Today is the anniversary of my final day of treatment back in 2011. Stage IIIB. At age 54, I feel that I am the happiest and healthiest ever. I rarely think about my cancer these days which really surprises me because it once consumed me so. But I am surprised how emotions are still just under the surface as I teared…

Treatment Started
Hi. I started treatment yesterday and everything went well. There was an issue with my alignment at radiation, so I had to get re-alignmed and come back a few hours later for treatment. In between that time, I had my first round (of 2) of Mitomycen chemo IV. (I'm also taking chemo pills on the same days as radiation). But…
