Constipation????????
I know just started treatment Chemo and Radiation this week only 4 days in, and I'm so constipated. Eating well, no nausea, lots of gas, and burping. Taking colace in small doses for two days, along with prunes. Lots of water and fluids. Sat in a bath of Epsons salts someone suggested. Didn't work. I don't know if I should…

Just Diagnosed and Trying To Decide Whether To Do the Treatment.
Hi Everybody, I gratefully found this board this morning and have been pouring through the posts. I'm a 55 year old woman with Squamous Cell Carcinoma of the Anal Canal. A month ago, I had 3 lesions removed, all with HPV features. (I'm still suffering the aftermath of that one!) I wouldn't recommend it to my worst…

Shame...anyone else feel this way?
Dear Friends ... I never knew I had HPV until I was diagnosed with cancer. I feel shameful and am having a hard time dealing with my shame and sense of "causing" this in someway. My husband (second husband) loves me unconditionally, however I'm having a hard time with accepting myself right now. Can you share your feelings…

Follow-up testing
I'm curious about what kind of follow-up studies your oncologists and colo-rectal surgeons are doing for you after treatment is done? Do get a DRE, EUS, PET CT, CT only, PET only? And how often? Also, my oncologist requests a PET CT every three months for the first year ... I fear my insurance won't cover this. What are…

pain at excisional biopsy site-delayed healing ?
OK ... I need some support. I had an excision of the anal lesion/ulcer which turned out to be a tumor/SCC and finished chemo radiation 5 months ago. The issue is I'm still having pain in the area of that ulcer/lesion/tumor excision. It burns at times, itches and aches ... mostly when I sit. It is very specific to the area…

Ideas for Pain???
Im looking for someone to please tell me how to help with the pain from radiation. My mother has Stage III rectal cancer and the site where she is receiving radiation is so badly burned. I just feel so helpless when I see her crying from all the pain. She is taking oral pain medicine around the clock and putting Silvadene…

Worried about my treatment, or should I say lack of it.
I had an operation to remove Hemorrhoids, in May 2009, shortly after I was told one of my Hemorrhoids was a Squamous Cell Carcinoma in Situ, which was high grade. I was then referred to a professor at a university hospital (I am in the UK). He told me that it had been removed intact and it would be unlikely to return, he…

Today I took it in the am and I am wide awake at 2:45 am. I didn't nap in the afternoon, even tho I wanted to, thinking that I would…

Not feeling too well
Hi everyone, Tomorrow I'll be at the half way mark. The doctor called me at home tonight and said my blood work is not looking so good this week. She took me off of Vicodin for just plain old oxicotone (I'm to lazy to look up how you spell these drug names). She doubled the morphine this week. Last week, from that shot my…

Glutamine to help with both diarrhea & healing wounds
I wanted to find out if anyone knows anything about L-Glutamine powder. The dietician at the radiologist's office gave me this to take starting right away, before treatment begins. They explained that L-glutamine is an amino acid that fuels the cells of the digestive tract, as well as the immune system. Our body naturally…

Just Diagnosed & Preparing to Start Treatment
Good Morning! I've done a lot of reading on this board and thought I'd reach out for some advice. I went for a routine colonoscopy a couple of weeks ago (just turned 50!), and doc found a cancerous polyp. Good Morning Everyone Well I completed my eight day of radiation yesterday. Only 20 left and I am wondering and scared to death what my vagina is going to look like at the end. first day with sore tush
Started on Tuesday so shouldn't complain if this is my first day with a sore tush. Yesterday I was almost euphoric. It was the lease amount of pain I have had in years. I drove my car for forty minutes with no pain down my legs or in my back. Unbelievable. I called almost everyone I knew last night to just rave about how…

My brain after chemo - and returning to work
'Your Brain After Chemo' by Dan Silverman, MD, PhD is a God-send. The worst side effect of all of this for me has been brain fog aka 'chemo brain' that my doctors and family don't give much credit to. But I know that it has been very, very real for me and the primary reason that I haven't returned to work. I don't feel…
