Megace
So I always say if the cancer doesn't kill you...the treatment will. Megace bought me 3 years of NED but I just want to let you know the trade offs. Constant hunger with a 20 pound weight gain (but that seems to be it. Dead or fat? I'll take fat!). I developed diabetes and am on 48 units of insulin plus prandin but it's…

Virtual Visits
How are you all finding your virtual visits? I like them for visits that you really only are talking and it saves me travel time. I agree with others that sometimes you need a "touch" visit and also I'm sure it is frustrating for people that are not tech savvy. But I myself hope we continue to have this option post-virus…

I'm tired of the at risk warning, enough!
Yes, everyone who has an illness and is being treated by doctors have been told this, and cancer patients are extremely vulnerable, but my state is really pushing the stay home if you are elderly or at risk. To the point, that they are hinting that they would open up the economy, but still mandate (or at least insist) that…

Sad news from Cheers regarding her Mother
Cheers just wrote to say her mother passed away from her struggle with uterine carcinosarcoma (MMMT) in January, 2020. Cheers reports that her mother persevered during her long fight with cancer, despite setbacks from her various treatments, but in the end, she couldn't beat back this insidious disease. You can read about…

Scheduling all the doctors
I am finally done with treatment (6 rounds of carbo/taxol) followed by 25 radiation. My oncologist told me I would see one of the three doctors involved (gyn onc, radiation onc and onc) every three months. However, I have appointments with all three scheduled in one week (May29-June3). I was wondering how others juggled…

How long should I worry about developing lymphedema?
I'm now 26 months post-surgery and have no lymphedema symptoms. They took all my pelvic nodes, so I've been worried about it. I exercise vigorously every day and am quite active. I've read that for breast cancer survivors, the risk of developing lymphedema drops off dramatically after 3 years. Does anyone know how long…

My Lenvima/Keytruda experience so far - please share yours
My recurrence diagnosis was Aug 19, 2019. Metastatic UPSC to multiple lymph nodes. Did 6 more cycles of Taxol/Carbo ending 12/30/19. PET scans Jan & Mar indicated some response, but also spread to more lymph nodes. Started Keytrud, 200 mg infusion on 4/6. On 4/7 started Lenvima 14 mg. By day #3 my blood pressure was way…

Two years cancer free :)
I just had my regular follow up 2 days ago. As it turned out, I got a twofer out of it because I had a UTI and she took care of that for me. This marks 2 years post treatment (or close to it)! She scheduled my next follow up for 4-6 months instead of 3-4. It's nice to note that this makes me happy now instead of anxious,…

Coronavirus, cancer and all alone
I guess tonight I'm struggling with all of the above, I am blessed with four years of not active cancer, yet I know I have to stay at home to protect myself. So I stay at home, day after day. But I'm all alone, family is distant, and the phone calls, or emails from family are too infrequent as they are only trying to get…

10 years cancer free today UPSC Brachytherapy saves lives
Had my annual exam today and am 10 years cancer free. Another lady who did chemo with me just found out she had a reoccurance with UPSC at her 10 year checkup. The difference between her treatment and mine was I had the internal radiation (brachytherapy) and she opted not to do it. Her only new symptoms were a reoccuring…
