Surgery or "wait and see"
I went for my annual check up in June and was sent to an ENT doc due to my voice being hoarse. As my husband had passed away from head and neck cancer on 10-31-09, I thought the hoarseness was due to stress. Turns out my left vocal cord is paralysed. The ENT doc had a CT scan and an ultrasound done. He found a nodule in my…

Very confusing one year after TT & RAI
It seems that I'm lost and I need advice. I got my TT on April 13th 2009 and RAI on May same year. Now finally after a year and half I get to prepare for my whole body scan. The problem I'm facing is that none of my doctors told me that despite I don't have any more cancer I need to go under RAI, when I asked the tech the…

Hurthle Cell questions
I am going to be having surgery since Hurthle cells were found on my biopsy. Haven't had the appointment with the surgeon yet. I read here somewhere that this cancer is slow-growing and aggressive. Isn't that contradictory? I have osteoporosis. If this is malignant and I need treatment, it sounds like your TSH level gets…

Low TSH?
I've been off my levo and on the LID for 23 days and my TSH level is still only 6.6. My oncologist says it needs to be >30 for me to take the RAI. I'm still feeling fine, just sick of the diet. I'm following the thyroid cancer survivors diet very strictly. I have recurring Hurthle cell cancer. This will be my first RAI…

Loss of Saliva glands 7 months after RAI
HI all I had a total TT last October for Papillary CA and then RAI in February. My jaws hurt a bit after the RAI and I was completely exhausted for months. Then in June my mouth just dried up and my paratoid glands got really swollen. The swelling and pain in mostly down now - although after I eat the glands swell up…

Will be going for my 2nd surgery
I have had TT and neck dissection back in 2008.Had 2 RAI done in the past, 150 mci and 100 mci. Recently, i had 5 FNA on my lymph nodes around my neck. The result show that only one of the nodules show up as thyroid cells. A surgery is set on 9/24/10. By the way, in my first surgery, i had 96 lymph nodes removed. Believe…

I am responding back to your response post. I had my biopsy and it came back negative. My Tg after thyrogen was 5.5 but everything else is coming back negative. When I had my surgery 2 years ago they took out all my thyroid and 8 lymph nodes. Could it be someplace else? Now what?

After RAI, where should I go?
I have an RAI treatment coming up soon, and while visiting with the Dr. she said that I would have to use a seperate bathroom than my husband for several days. I told her we only have one bathroom, and was there any other option. Her reply was."Oh- well I guess you'll figure out something." then she left the room. Does…

Reoccurance options...someone help me understand
I've posted recently about me having papillary cancer and had a total thyroidectomy w/lymph node remove (6 out of 8 were cancer) 2 years ago. Had RAI after that. My Tg levels have always been nondetectable. Had a sonogram done and it showed a small mass (7mm) that the sono dr very well thinks it is thyroid tissue. (I've…
